Birch Point is a real gem. Wonderful waterfront views from the house. The island had a nesting pair of I think Osprey and young hatchlings that kept us watching for views of the chicks. Our grandson fished everyday and he an his sister paddleboarded too.
A lovely home with gorgeous views in a quiet, rural neighborhood on the ocean. House has everything - I didnât need half of the things Iâve been conditioned to travel with after so many items that are missing from other rental properties. This spot has it all, plus a dock! Canât wait to return.
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The location was perfect. We rented kayaks for the week, which we really enjoyed. We loved the property. It was clean and well furnished.
Terrific, comfortable home on the water with a private dock and great outdoor space. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here as long-time visitors to the area. Our host couldn't have been more welcoming or responsive and we are hoping to return again.
This was our second stay at the property and we loved every second of it. Amazing views, cozy, clean, well stocked house, lovely neighborhood and neighbors. Located close to Bath and Brunswick which are both great towns that donât get as much tourist traffic as some other places in Maine.
Loved the location on the water ⊠great for kayakers. Overall the house was good but needs some new mattresses especially in the two twin room! Great views from windows and yard.
We needed a break from our own 4 walls and wanted a place with a beautiful view. This spot was perfect. The house was comfortable, well stocked, and perfectly situated. The host was super-helpful and communicative, even looping in other family members for some questions. We had a great week.
Great stay at a great location! Bald eagles, osprey, seals and lobster boats, can it get any better? Turns out it can. Took a scenic cruise out of the maritime museum just down the street, we saw a rare humpback whale in one of the inlets. Captain said sheâs been doing the cruise for 8 years and this was her first!
This home is charming, clean, and well-appointed, and the setting is lovely. My husband and I and our daughter enjoyed the beautiful views of the water and boats, as well as a variety of birds. And while out in our kayaks, several curious seals popped up to have a look at us!
Birch Point is far enough off the beaten path to be quiet and peaceful, yet still convenient to a variety of attractions. We spent time in Portland and at the LLBean store in Freeport. We explored Bath, Wisscasset, Boothbay, and Damariscotta, and visited Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, as well as Popham Beach.
Michelle was welcoming and responsive and our week in her home was a wonderfulâand much neededâcombination of fun and relaxation. We hope to return!
Spent 2 glorious fall weeks at this West Bath property. This older, well updated house nicely accommodated the two of us. It was very comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed. There were plenty of dishes and flatware. We cooked in for most meals. There are black out curtains in the main bedroom, so you can really sleep in if you want to! We did! The backyard views are wonderful. Jennieâs Nubble has an active eagles nest. Lobster boats and sail boats were frequently in the area. The house is well off the main road and we had complete privacy. This house is a true gem. Just wait until you see the spectacular starry night sky! Michelle was very helpful with answering questions. Just loved our stay.
This property is in a delightful location right on the water at Birch Point, with its own dock, for easy access to the sheltered water. No matter the air quality anywhere else in town, with an onshore breeze, this place always smelled fresh and clean. It was very quiet, with the only noise being the slap of the water on the shore, the birds, and the occasional lobster boat coming by to manage their traps. Just sitting and gazing out the large living room window at the expansive water view, provided a lovely experience.
We had a delightful time walking on the local roads and trails, and also at the Hamilton Audubon sanctuary not far away. We very much enjoyed renting kayaks from a local business, as the process was simple, with them dropping off and picking up the kayaks, so we could focus on having fun. The nearby town of bath was a pleasure to wander, with a lot of history and interesting businesses. We did venture as far as to the L.L. Bean store, which was a fun highlight of our vacation.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience, that I would highly recommend to anyone.
We've stayed in this home a number of times over the years and the owner is very helpful. It has everything we need and has always been perfect for our summer family get-togethers. The view from the house and dock is beautiful, and there's always a nice breeze coming up the bay from the ocean. The location, about 8 miles south of Bath, is convenient for most things in the area. The airport in Portland is about an hour's drive, and it's just 15 miles to beautiful Popham Beach or to Brunswick.
We watched seals playing, and eagles, osprey, herons, and cormorants fishing. The kitchen has all the tools and pots and pans a cook needs. You can easily have a wonderful family vacation as long as everyone can handle stairs. The dock is a huge plus for us. This was a return visit for, and we were thrilled to be back.
This is a beautiful property located right on the waterfront. A large window in the living room looks out on an amazing ocean view. The house is clean, tidy and has all needed conveniences. A high tide dock tops it off! There are close neighbors to the left. However, none close to the right and that's where the deck is located so you still maintain your privacy. The owners were very available by email and phone. They also went out of their way to make sure we were welcome and content.
Michelle, was great to work with. The home met all of our needs and then some. And then there was the view. We have stayed at a number of properties in Maine over the years and none have come close to this home when it comes to the view and the great breeze that comes off of the water. Canât wait till our next visit.
We travel to Maine usually once a year, and this is one of the top spots we have ever stayed! The pictures do not do it justice, the views were amazing! We loved watching the tides, all the birds, (and one seal!) and we literally saw lobster on the rocks during low tide. Kids had a great time in the water getting hermit crabs, etc. We had access to kayaks and this was one of the better spots to launch from to to explore the mid coast. The home itself was the most well appointed home we have stayed in through Vrbo, it had everything to make our trip comfortable. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for a great stay on the coast of Maine!
Our house is in West Bath towards the northern end of Casco Bay. We are nestled in the waterside community called Birch Point. Most of the homes on Birch Point are year-round owner-occupied residences. Many of the homes were originally summer homes for residents of the nearby city of Bath and have remained in the same family for generations. Our home was originally built as a summer cottage in the mid-nineteenth century. It was substantially rebuilt and converted for year-round use in 1975. Purchased by our family in 1985, our home was limited to family use for many years. Although our family has been geographically spread out over the years, from nearby New Hampshire and Massachusetts to as far away as California and Texas, we, as well as our grown children, vacation each summer at this home as we continue to have deep attachment to it. We are delighted to watch our young grandchildren enjoy this spot as much as their parents did. It was after our own children were grown that we began to offer weekly rentals through VRBO during the summer and fall months.
In all these years we have never tired of the view. When looking out to the water, Phippsburg is to the left and Harpswell to the right. Just offshore, is a small tidal island called Jennyâs Nubble. Out in the bay, sailboats are often seen coming in and out of The Basin, which is to the left and is a popular shelter on the coast of Maine. Most days one wakes to the gentle hum of the lobster boats as they set and pull their traps.
While you are here you can enjoy swimming (if you donât mind the cold water of the north Atlantic), leisurely walks, or watching the boats and sunsets along the watersâ edge. Kayak and boat rentals are available locally and our private dock provides access at all tides. The Bath area offers a variety of attractions (for guests who can tear themselves away from the water!) ranging from golf to shopping to the Maine Maritime Museum (where one can explore the areaâs rich and ongoing shipbuilding heritage) to Popham Beach and Fort Popham at the mouth of the Kennebec River.
