The views were outstanding! We have been coming to the Georgetown area for years and love the area! The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The outdoor decks were wonderful for watching sunsets after busy days at the various beaches in the area. Carrie was a great communicator and very accommodating! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful property!
Our family has rented a number of places over the years & this was one of the very best. Clean, comfortable, functional, well stocked. We even made a list of the good things about it & we exceeded the number of steps, tee hee. GREAT VIEWS, from inside and out, big decks, sheltered table, working grill, window treatments that kept out the dawn's early light, binoculars, towels &&&
Magnificent home! Fully furnished with everything you could possibly need for your trip. The views were gorgeous. Upstairs bed was comfy and you wake up surrounded by the gorgeous views that I am very much missing now! We used the home as a base to explore up and down the coast of Maine. Truly a magical home. Carrie and Paul are fantastic hosts.. even got us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary! A bottle of wine for a birthday, complete with cards for both. Super sweet gesture! The stairs arenât bad⊠but you definitely get a workout in! Super quiet neighborhood. Looking forward to booking again in the future!
We celebrated our 30th anniversary here. The many stairs were well worth the view of Popham beach, seals, and the ocean! We were super relaxed just watching the water. There were plenty of things to do in the area. Maine Maritime Museum just over the town line in Bath had a wonderful 3 hour lighthouse cruise. Included in the tour we saw many seals, osprey, herons and an eagle. The cottage is located within easy driving distance to lighthouses and harbors along the coast, such as, Portland Head, Cape Neddick(Nubble Light), Camden and Boothbay Harbor. We saw seals every day from the porch and also watched them while dining on Popham Beach at Spinnys. The neighbors we ran into were all friendly and there is a nice down home feel to the area.We cannot say enough good things about Carrie and Paul, our hosts. They had the cottage fully stocked with everything we could possibly need or want and they communicated throughout our stay to make sure things were going well. They truly care about you when you stay here!!!We absolutely recommend this place!
Concluded another lovely stay at the Topsider - our 3rd year. The feeling of being recharged and relaxed after a visit is why we keep coming back. There is something to be said for the remoteness of this place, situated on the high outer peninsula of Georgetown, surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic and Kennebec River, it can feel like you are on the bow of a ship. Carrie and Paul consistently do a great job providing a clean house, with all the basic accessories to enjoy a home away from home. We appreciated the new king sized bed in the one-bedroom second-story bedroom with its panoramic views of the water greeting you each morning. We also enjoyed the addition of a telescope we used to monitor the comings and goings of various ships and water craft into Bath and to stargaze into a night sky unobstructed by light pollution. We enjoyed multiple 4th of July fireworks displays while sitting on the deck this year. Note, this is not a luxe property and the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are small with minimal personal storage. What the Topsider IS is a well-kept, charming, rustic house with a host we have found to be extremely thoughtful, responsive and easy to communicate with.
This was the first time we stayed in the same rental for out vacation. The location is beautiful, the views are amazing, and the house had everything we needed for our stay. Would highly recommend this house.
Wow! This was our first impression as we walked into the Topsider. The openness, simplicity, and non stop views had my husband and I in awe. The pictures do not do this cottage justice. I had booked this cottage before I knew I needed knee surgery. The reviews that spoke of the stairs had me a bit worried. There are a lot, but there are rails and landings on which to rest. I did fine. Pack carefully as you will have to get everything up the stairs. But, on that note, Carrie has made sure that so many needs are met. There are plenty of towels and bedding. All paper products are in abundance, including plates, cups, and napkins. There are spices, condiments, shampoo, conditioner, soap... We honestly just needed a bit of food, which is easy enough to grab in Bath. We have never rented a place so accommodating. And the extra touches, including a birthday card and a reservation to The Osprey made us feel so welcome and at home. We love Georgetown because of it beauty and quietness. The Topsider is the kind of retreat a person needs and deserves after a hard year of work. Just sitting on the deck, reading, watching the wildlife, watching the sunset... it is magical. We can not thank Carrie and Paul enough. The memory of our restful week will linger. We can not wait to be back next year!!!
We had a wonderful 5th visit to Topsider. Terrific view and cozy interior makes it on our short list of favorite places ever. This trip we especially enjoyed the Maritime Museum in Bath and first visit to Pemaquid peninsula and lighthouse . We also discovered Maineâs own Gifford ice cream enjoyed on Tooside deck with sunset.
This place is amazing with its view over the Atlantic ocea and the surrounding islands.
A really cozy cabin that suited the whole family.
Can recommend!
Topsider is a wonderful place to stay, clean, comfortable, and a view that is worth every step. Carrie has thought of everything one might need and was always available to answer any questions we had as well as providing information about the area. We truly enjoyed our week there, it just went by too quickly. Hope to return and would highly recommend staying here.
Our stay was wonderful. It was our second time in the cottage and we had a lovely time. The view were perfect, the cottage is comfortable and the weather was perfectly Maine. We will be planning our fall vacation soon.
Wonderful location with welcoming hosts? The house is cozy and invites relaxation. The views are spectacular. Even the location was perfect, and we took short trips up and down midcoast Maine.
This was our second stay at The Topsider, and we enjoyed this visit as much as we did the first! We were out and about most days exploring the area, but always looked forward to returning back to our home away from home to eat a delicious meal and relax. On a couple of dreary and rainy days, we were just as happy to hang out, play some games, relax, and take in the views! This is such a special place, thank you again to our wonderful hosts!
First and foremost Topsider is like walking in to your home away from home. Truly, like it is yours. Carrie and Paul have ensured you have absolutely everything you need to be there minus groceries (they do have the cooking basics tho which is really nice) When you finally hit the deck after treking 55 stairs you take a deep breath (mostly to catch your breath) and just relish in the beauty that being on top of the hill has to offer. Sadly it isnât handicap accessible because of the stairs but my 72 year old mother was able to get up and down pretty easily. The home is immaculate in all the right ways. Not fancy or frilly. Nothing exaggerated or overdone, it is the perfect beach cottage- the right size, the right amount of rooms and spaces, the right views. All of it. We were traveling with our two young kids (3.5 & 9 months old) and the house had everything we needed from a pack n play to baby gate to portable high chair (which came in clutch to bring to 5 island lobster for dinner). Because we were traveling with 2 young kids we opted to do most of our cooking at the house. Grill worked great and we were able to cook breakfast every morning and whip up sides for dinner each night no problem. I even baked a coffee cake while we were there on a rainier day to occupy my toddler. There was a snafu with the shower on our 2nd or 3rd day and Carrie and Paul had someone come address it very quickly which was great. I canât rave about this house and Carrie & Paul enough.
Amazing, accommodating hosts at a one of a kind dreamy summer oasis with views and fun like no other⊠almost afraid to say too much cuz we donât want the competition to get it again⊠Paul and Carrie are the best host and hostess! So responsive and kind!
We had a wonderful week. The property and area were great for relaxing and having fun at the house and local area. The house was one of the best stocked places we have ever stayed in and the air conditioning was wonderful luxury during our August stay.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Topsider! The view from the property is spectacular, and the wraparound porch is just perfect for relaxing. The property is in a great location, and Carrie and Paul have provided everything at the house you might possibly need! We canât wait to come back!
This beach rental was amazing...fully stocked with supplies, activities for kids and exceptional views of the ocean. The beach is a short walk and was great first swimming, collecting sea glass, or just soaking in the beautiful
We loved our stay at the Topsider! A really special property in Georgetown with amazing views. The house was cozy and while the stairs are steep the payoff is worth it! We loved the little beach and all of the small details. Thank you!
Paul and I love the mountains and the ocean. We have created an amazing space where you can relax with your family, play cornhole in the yard, lay under the stars, and go for many adventures.
Built in the early 1900s, this quaint cottage has been completely renovated and updated to include a huge wrap around deck to enjoy all the view has to offer. The Topsider has remained in the family for over 100 years and we can't wait to share it with you.
