This country home is in a beautiful setting..very clean, spacious and airy. The peacefulness and charm creates an atmosphere that makes you want to stay forever. I would highly recommend this home for one or two couples. Will certainly return next time we are in Tuscany/Chianti!
Words can hardly suggest and describe the overall value of this place!
It's full of charm and calmness - perfect for a relaxing vacation longed for!
The house itself has all the appliances necessary, it's clean and tidy and it's built and equipped with furniture in line with the traditions of the typical Tuscany rural stone houses.
It even has a flower garden around, which tourists could take care of by themselves. Amazing sunsets make it quite inevitable to enjoy lots of glasses of local Chianti, while having a dinner under the skies :-)
You are surrounded by trees (with typical olives also) and vineyards spread ahead on the hills around this marvelous place. We even witnessed the tracks of deers, roes and wild boars (cinghiale) on the dirt roads close to the house. Location is aside of tourist routes and sites, yet very convenient as a base camp.
One of the most precious things during our stay were our hosts and their son's family - beautiful, inspiring people of finest class. We could hardly notice them around unless we sought for them. They were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure for us to have the opportunity to get to know each other.
We wish them wealth of health and lots of luck and hope we meet again!
Een heerlijk rustige omgeving. Ruim huis van alle gemakken voorzien. Inclusief airco.
The house and property were beautiful. The house has exposed wood beams and feels like youâre in your own little Tuscan villa. Well equipped with small kitchen and everything you need for the stay. I was with my adult daughter (just the two of us). Loved the nearby town of Castellina in Chianti.
Our host, Mariolina, was wonderful too.
We had a lovely holiday in this beautiful old barn, despite rain for 10 of our 14 days. Arriving, because signs are restricted in Tuscany, use Marias instruction, the yellow house is opposite a gravel fenced car park on the right coming from Poggibonsi, with barrels, flower pots and a brown sign for the vineyard Piemaggio pointing towards the red/white barrier down to the villa.
The setting is perfect, half way down a white road on a fairly steep valley slope, with perfect views over the vineyards and olive groves through the valley to the town at the end. The backdrop is woodland resulting in sighting of deer, a group of wild boar and their young in the field in the evening, constant birdsong, insects and one evening we were visited on the patio by a long green/black snake (Maria assures us it is not venomous).
The Barn has everything you need. Maria kindly left the Central Heating as the weather was cold at the start of our holiday. Personally, we found the internal stairs from the bedroom & bathrooms challenging as there are about 20 steep stone steps but there is a handrail to help with the climb, so it is worth remembering when booking.
The outside patio is extensive furnished with large white plastic table and chairs plus metal sun loungers, this affords the ability of moving the furniture to chase the sun. The front door on the patio receives the morning sun and the afternoon sun by moving to the other end overlooking the valley with the stunning views for evening drinks/dinner.
The nearby town of Castellina in Chianti has some nice restaurants/shops/bars and the main town of Poggibonsi has a railway station on the Florence Sienna line with a frequent service, about 15⏠return. Buy ticket from a machine and validate, then you have 3 hours! to travel. In Florence customer service people around ticket office to help, Florence is very busy so train is the best way to go, Santa Maria Novella station takes you right in to the City. Also Poggibonsi has the best supermarket I have been in anywhere, the big Co-op in the Centro business area (not the one in the centre of town).
We drove to Siena and parked in Porta Camolia shopping centre part of the bus station on the left in a red brick building as you approach the city. Parking was about 6⏠for 4 hrs and you access the escalators raise you up to town starting from the food court on the top floor.
We had a lovely visit with Maria and Gianni , thank you both.
