IdĂ©alement situĂ© pour visiter la Costiera Amalfitana, Capri, Pompei, Ercolano, l'appartement occupe le rez-de-chaussĂ©e d’une vaste villa du XIXĂšme siĂšcle entiĂšrement restaurĂše dans le style original. En pleine campagne, entourĂ©e d’un grand jardin d’oĂč l’on peut accĂ©der depuis les chambres, la Villa Castellano comprend quatre chambres grandes et lumineuses (soit un total de neuf couchages, plus un), une vaste salle de sĂ©jour-salle Ă  manger, deux salle de bain, et une grande cuisine d’époque. Á l’exterieur un parking (deux emplacements) un grand jardin, une vĂ©randa adjacente Ă  la cuisine, et un belvĂ©dĂšre offrant une vue unique sur le Golfe de Naples. L’appartement est complĂštement Ă©quipĂš autant Ă  l’interieur qu’a l’extĂ©rieur. Le jardin est partagĂ© avec la famille du premiĂšre Ă©tage; la terrace qui est devant la cuisine, avec table Ă  manger/barbecue est utilisĂ©e exclusivement par nos appartement.

Excellent location and accommodation

On a tour of Italy this was a fantastic first stop. We felt very privileged staying in this beautiful old apartment. Overlooking Sorrento the apartment comes with spectacular views and a very welcome cooling breeze. The walk down to Sorrento and back was no problem in sensible shoes. The accommodation suited four adults and three children perfectly. It was spacious and cool. Luca was very helpful and provided us with a lot of useful information. If I had any criticism it was that the cleaning charges are not included with the cost of the apartment and at 18 euros per person it was a substantial further sum to outlay on arrival.

TrĂšs belle maison au-dessus de Sorrente avec une vue magnifique sur la cĂŽte et le VĂ©suve. Les amis de Carolina nous ont bien accueillis et nous ont donnĂ© d'excellentes adresses. Ils nous ont rendu service au moindre problĂšme. Au printemps, la maison doit ĂȘtre encore plus accueillante car nous avons eu de la neige et il faisait froid dans la grande maison. C'est la seule rĂ©serve car nous Ă©tions six et nous avons adorĂ© notre sĂ©jour Ă  Sorrente.

SĂ©jour de rĂȘve dans une villa hors du temps

Cette villa est tout simplement superbe et notre sĂ©jour en famille -9 personnes - fut inoubliable. Maria Pia et Carolina ont su prĂ©server tout le charme de cette villa familiale dans laquelle nous avions quelquefois l'impression de voir surgir devant nous l'un ou l'autre occupant des annĂ©es 1800 assis dans le salon ou jetant un regard sur le repas en prĂ©paration dans la cuisine. Lorsque nous sommes arrivĂ©s -accueillis en trĂšs bon français par Maria Pia- mon Ă©pouse a dit "c'est encore plus joli que sur les photos". Que dire de la vue depuis le jardin! Dans le fond, Sorrento, en face le VĂ©suve et la baie de Naples. MĂȘme sans climatisation, la villa reste Ă©tonnement fraĂźche. Il faut dire que les murs font presque 1 mĂštre d'Ă©paisseur. Merci Maria Pia de nous avoir laissĂ© profiter de vos tomates et citrons.

La maison est vraiment magnifique ainsi que la vue sur la baie sorrentine, le vĂ©suve et iscchia.Mme C. est extrĂȘmement accueillante et trĂšs gentille.La localisation de la maison est parfaite (avec une voiture) pour visiter les alentours comme naples, pompei, herculanum, amalfi, positano..."

Es war ein schöner Urlaub in der Villa, das Haus ist von 1889 und hat sehr viel Charme. Manuela war sehr hilfsbereit und hatte immer gute Ideen und sorgte sogar fĂŒr Standspielzeug fĂŒr die Kinder. Sehr unkompliziert und freundlich. Die Fotos sind nicht geschont, man hat einen super Ausblick und riesig viel Platz in Haus. Mit schöner antiker Ausstattung der Möbel, fĂŒhle man sich wir herrschaftliche Leute. Wir können das Haus, auch mit Kindern empfehlen. Manuela ist spitze.

Amazing hospitality! Communicating throughout my stay through WhatsApp was easy and incredibly helpful for taxi, restaurant recommendations and general info about Sorrento. We enjoyed beers with our family while gazing at the sea in the outdoor space. It’s about a 20 minute steep downhill walk into town but we found taking the bus was quite easy.

Fantastic property

This villa is set in the most incredible location with views out over sorrento and Vesuvius. It is spacious and clean and the perfect location to explore Sorrento and the surrounding area. We hope to come back and stay again as we had the most perfect week.

Magical Villa above Sorrento

We stayed here for five days in December 2024. This historic villa is in an absolutely breathtaking location, high over Sorrento, with unobstructed 180 degree views over the entire Bay of Naples to Vesuvius from the back of the garden. The villa is surrounded by a large old garden with flowers, lemon and olive trees. The owner’s son Guido gave us a tour of the agricultural building next to the villa, where his family has done a beautiful restoration of the vaulted ceilings in the lowest floor and of an old olive press. He was so friendly and welcoming. The same as Manuela, the property manager. She could always be contacted by whatsapp and was very friendly and responsive. She came exactly at the agreed upon times for check-in and check-out. The apartment consists of the entire ground floor of the villa. There are four bedrooms, a large living room, kitchen and two bathrooms. We had temperatures of about 10C at night and 14C during the day. The apartment was warm enough with two portable heaters on, while we were home, wearing a warm sweater helped too. The sunset hour every day on the overlook in the back of the garden was magical, an absolute highlight of our Italian vacation. A few issues, such as lack of restocking sugar and oil, and lack of thorough cleaning by the cleaning lady were addressed by Manuela right away. She even brought us some homemade olive oil! Overall we spent five beautiful days at the Villa Castellano! Molto grazie!

Eravamo 6 amici che hanno scelto di soggiornare in questa stupenda villa a pochi minuti da Sorrento. Il personale ci ha accolto con calore e gentilezza ed era a disposizione per ogni evenienza. La casa era pulita e in ordine e il giardino ben tenuto. Sicuramente torneremo in futuro🙃

Majestic house on top of a hill with fabulous views over the bay of Naples

Villa Castellano is a very large house built in 1889. It has remained true to its origins with original features and furniture. The bathrooms are modern and the kitchen has modern gas and electic cooking with plenty of pans and utensils to cook a family meal. There is no air conditioning for the hot weather in August but the ceilings are very high, fans are provided, and large doors and windows to open to make it airy. We loved the quirkiness of a past time. Sorrento centre is accessible via steps and there is a good mini grocery store at the bottom which stocks every thing you need. However if you don't have a car, which many choose not to in Sorrento, getting shopping back up the hill is a challenge in high season. We managed this by never going back empty handed and timing our shopping with the busses. Getting to master the busses isn't easy as there is much conflicting information on the internet, but they do work when you fathom them out. We had a great stay and got to visit Pompeii, Herculaneum and Capri.

Authentische Villa mit Flair und atemberaubendem Blick

Uns hat der Aufenthalt in dieser familiĂ€ren Villa sehr gut gefallen. Uns fehlte es an nichts! Der 20-minĂŒtige Fußweg von Sorrent ist auch mit Kindern gut machbar und wird durch den außerordentlichen Ausblick belohnt. Die Betreuung durch Manuela und Rita war vor und wĂ€hrend unseres Aufenthaltes sehr wertvoll. Vielen Dank!

Great location

The downstairs area of this house is very spacious, with ample car parking. The lawns however could do with a mow and it would have been great to have a key to the side gate for safer access to the bus stop and laneway to Sorrento.

What a view!

We were eight friends staying in this property which provided lots of room for all. The villa was well equipped with a large kitchen, an outdoor dining space, 4 bedrooms. Having two bathrooms for 8 of us was sometimes a bit challenging but we managed. The view from the back garden is absolutely stunning - you see Mt Vesuvius, Naples, Sorrento and the whole bay area. As others have mentioned, you can walk to Sorrento in 20 minutes (but a bit steep in places) but you need to be fit to walk back up - you can take a local bus. The property manager did a great job of arranging tours for us to the Amalfi coast, Pompeii and Capri. This property is great value for money - the only thing that might have made it nicer was a bit of attention to the garden (not mowed and not updated) but overall a great spot.

A sublime experience

I don't really know where to begin. I was joined at the villa by my three adult children and their partners in mid-Sep for a two week stay. I wish it had been much longer. The villa with its 19th century charm, large space and with most of the important modern amenities gave us everything we needed. What it didn't have we didn't need - such as A/C (always comfy in mid-Sep), clothes dryer (had a clothes line), TV (come on now, you're in Sorrento). The hilltop setting is extraordinarily beautiful - we could not get enough of the rear terrace and its panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples (day or night), the church bells, the rooster, the occasional woodsmoke. Unforgettable. Carolina and especially her guest manager, Rita, are marvelous hosts and wonderful to work with. Rita helped arrange car services for our trips to Naples and then Positano, offered other assistance and was always responsive to our queries. I'll say no more, because if I do I'll grow more wistful about not having spent more time in Sorrento and the villa. But I highly recommend it and we'll be back.

Die Villa Castellano atmet in all ihren Strukturen, Formen und Materialien die großartige Schönheit und Historie des Golfs von Sorrento: die wunderschönen alten FamilienerbstĂŒcke in Mobiliar und Bildern, der atemberaubende Blick ĂŒber den Golf von Neapel auf den Vesuv und die malerische SteilkĂŒste, der wunderschöne alte, terrassierte Garten inmitten der Olivenhaine und die freundliche Gastgeberinnen, in deren Familienbesitz das Haus seit 130 Jahren ist. - alles strahlt eine großzĂŒgige und lebendige AtmosphĂ€re aus, das schönste Haus, das man sich ( nicht ) vorstellen kann! Poor maintenance and uncomfortable

Property has wonderful views and large rooms. The problems stem from the unbearably hot temperatures with no air conditioning. This shortcoming could easily have been offset by fans available to circulate the air. Screens on the windows would also help. Furniture is rickety and beds are uncomfortable. As an added bonus to make the stay unpleasant, the place is infested with mice with no apparent attempt at controlling them. It was unanimous in our party of six that we do not recommend it until improvements are made.

The Views!!

The views of this property are everything. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful! We were unclear that there were limitations on the outdoor space, as the property was being shared with others until arrival. Also, while the views are unmatched, the inside could use some attention, especially the beds (hard and rickety), pillows (flat, not fluffy) & towels (scratchy). Our overall rating would be 5 stars if the beds were replaced with high quality mattresses, pillows and towels in keeping with the quality of this historic home with the most spectacular views.

Can see Villa on hill from all over

Would love to know about the history of this Villa. We used the bus most frequently up and down , to and from Sorrento. Have to purchase tickets at tobacco shops or bus station. Nice space with 4 bedrooms/2baths. Would like screens on a few windows to let in fresh air and no critters/bugs.

Our stay in the villa

Our group of seven friends had a wonderful week in the villa at the end of September. The location was excellent with a twenty minute down hill walk into Sorrento and a thirty to forty minute walk back (but a bus stopped very near the villa for anyone who didn’t want to walk). There was a supermarket near the start of the walk back to the villa which we used to buy food to cook at the villa and there were many cafes in Sorrento to sit in to watch the world go by. We also found a wonderful ice cream parlour in one of the Old Town side streets running parallel to the main road Corsa Italia. We used public transport from Sorrento to get to the beautiful villages of Positano, Amalfi & Ravello and also to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius. We found the prices of the buses & trains very reasonable. The ferry to Amalfi was more expensive at €16.50 for one way but worth it. The only drawback was that public transport could be very crowded at times. We felt the villa was very authentic and characterful and a charming, relaxing place to stay with exceptional views overlooking the Bay of Naples. Amazingly it could be seen , perched in the hillside, from many areas down in Sorrento including the port and Corsa Italia. We can thoroughly recommend the villa to anyone who would like to stay in a charming property, with superb views, out of the hustle & bustle of Sorrento but still with easy access to the town.

Breath Taking Views

Beautiful villa with views beyond belief! Luca was extremely accommodating and attentive. He arranged for private transportation from Naples to the Villa (highly recommend this) and purchased some groceries for our group to have upon arrival. The location was wonderful but be prepared to walk around 15 minutes downhill into town and a 20-40 minute uphill walk back (depending on how in-shape you are). Our group walked most of the time. Kitchen has all utensils needed to cook meals and a dishwasher. This Accomodation is truly a gem and we hope to stay here again in the future!
