Second time weâve stayed here. Itâs hard to beat this location. We brought kayaks/SUPs and were able to kayak the platte river right from the rental. Itâs a small place, but has been perfect for our little family. Peaceful, quiet.
We just love coming to this quaint little cottage on Platte Lake. Itâs clean, cozy, and a reasonable drive to Frankfort, Empire, and Glen Arbor. While the home does have air condition, the shade of the maples and cedar trees allow a cool breeze to move through the home on a hot day. The kids spent hours in the lake and the water was warm enough to swim every day. Special thanks to Susan for sharing this gem of a place with us again for our summer 2023 vacation!
Beautiful Platte Lake waterfront cottage. Sit on the patio or in the living room and watch the lake while listening to birdsong, gentle waves and the wind in the trees. We had a fire in the outdoor fireplace and looked at the stars. House was spotless and had all the kitchenware one needs to prepare meals. Beds were comfortable. Nice gas fireplace inside to take the chill out of the air. Plenty of outlets for charging phones, watches or other electronics. Great property and Susan was very responsive to questions.
Small, well loved and used cabin. Inside- clean and fairly well furnished. Furniture and appliances dated, gas fireplace non functional. Water heater needed repair while we were there. Owner took care of problem
Immediately. West side of lake inundated with black flies 9/17-24) - made lakeside fun buggy. Sunrises were spectacular.
Nice time, beautiful lake, cozy home, property owner responsive to needs. Kitchen with plenty of dishes, kitchenware, nothing like blenders or slow cookers. Nice to have trash bags and leftover saran wrap, napkins but nothing else like spices and oils. House was clean but needs a deep clean. Very musty smelling even when opening silverware drawer. Nice shower. Couple of things could be improved/changed is bringing your own sheets and towels. For the amount we paid this should of been included. We did appreciate the two kitchen towels. I have never stayed at a cottage in MI where we had to bring these items but I understand it is easier not to have to do laundry. Although the service fees where over $600.
We had a great time and loved being right on the lake. Our children could easily play in the water without us stressing about boats or it getting too deep too quickly (our dog equally loved playing fetch in the water).
The neighbors and homeowner were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. The house is in a great location, tucked away from m-22 and a perfect jumping off point for all the things we love to do in the area (Frankfort, trails, Lake Michigan), although we did enjoy being at the house so much we rarely left.
Tips to future renters: as stated in the agreement, bring your own sheets and towels (except kitchen), bring anything youâd want to cook with or store food in, extra tp and pt is recommended. Iâd also highly recommend water shoes due to zebra muscles. There are fans for added comfort in each room and AC in one of the rooms, all of which kept the whole place comfortable. Pick up wood from deadstream road.
For those unfamiliar with the area, Frankfort is a charming downtown, where the platte river meets Lake Michigan is our favorite place to go for a beach day (no dogs), and is right around the corner, benzonia has a nice grocery store and a super yummy little medd lunch spot (the eatery) or Beulahâs brewery. If you travel north check out Glen arbor, if you go south check out the marsh in Arcadia and bowens creek for coffee and crepes or ketch 22 for lunch.
Weâd definitely come back and have found yet another lake to love in the area.
Lakefront cottage in a small, quiet neighborhood. Sandy bottom and shallow for quite a ways, which is great for small children. Youâre close to so many things to do in this beautiful part of Michigan. Our 11 year old grandson was never bored. No Internet, but you can tap into your phoneâs hotspot for excellent reception. If you plan to cook, all utensils are stocked, but youâll need to bring your own spices, oil, etc. . Donât forget to bring beach towels.
Quiet and charming, with spectacular views and a convenient location.
Slipping off of M-22 onto Wonderland Drive down the long dirt road, enveloped in Cedar, Birch and abundant other trees gives the feel that you arriving someplace special. And as you round the turn and can see the blues and greens Big Platte Lake, the rest of the world immediately fades away.
We had a memorable time and enjoyed every bit of this clean and quaint cottage. Even though it rained a couple of days the kids were in awe of a spectacular lightning display that outperformed the holiday fireworks as it passed to the south. The kids also spent entire days in the warm shallow water a dozen steps from the home. The home, on a quiet road with about a dozen other houses was the perfect place to relax and escape the daily grind of our lives back home! If youâre looking to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature along with the benefits of swimming, fishing, and board games at night, youâve found your little slice of heaven.
The cutest lake home around. Took us back to a time where family and fun was treasured. A just right spot for the two of us. Could not have been any closer to the water. Crystal clear and calming.
House was immaculate. Everything you would need. A cute welcome bag was left by our hosts for our enjoyment . Close to all the quaint little towns of the north woods. Plenty of easily accessible outdoor activities.
WE look forward to our next visit
My husband and I spent the week here at the end of September. It was the perfect time of year with nice weather and leaves changing. There are so many outdoor activities around. We brought our dog and took her on hikes, on the rowboat, swimming in the water, etc. The sunrises on the water were so serene and fires at night were relaxing. Susan was welcoming, Greta to communicate with, and gave so many great suggestions for activities in the area. This home and area are great for a family getaway or even if you want to just do a quiet getaway with your spouse.
Beautiful lakeside cottage with everything you need. Quiet and convenient to our favorite places. Susan was great to communicate with. Can't wait to stay here again!
We had a very relaxing and quiet stay at this Platte Lake home; just what we were looking for. We loved launching our kayaks in Platte Lake and heading on down the Platte River. Home was clean and kitchen well stocked with great pots & pans, dishes and serving pieces. The "welcome packet" was a nice touch! The owner was very pleasant to work with; great communication. We will return!
We totally enjoyed time away from our busy schedule.
Had time to check out the area for possible future ppty purchase. Frankfort was super friendly. (even for dogs, we brought our "pet friend") We'll be back!
Very Cozy, Relaxing, Updated Cottage on Beautiful Platte Lake
Although we could spend only two days at this cottage, we found it to be one of the
nicest places we've stayed at. Everything was clean and in order with many extra things
to make it feel "at home". The view of the lake was very enjoyable along with the many ducks and loons putting on a show for us. Neighborhood was very quiet and the long, wooded road coming in and out was really neat.
Susan was great to communicate with. She showed much concern for us and answered all of our questions promptly. Much appreciation to her!
We would surely return to this beautiful cottage and lovely area of Michigan.
