We arrived in middle of snow flurries and wind but settled in until 730 at night when power went out. The owner was not available so we had to contact his sister locally for candles and flashlights. No idea when power would be restored so a family of five and dog the day before thanksgiving. No hear, no water ( pump out) and no power. The owner suggested we check into a hotel but no options for dogs. We spent the night in cabin with no insulation and it was about 55 degrees. The next morning Thanksgiving we arranged another rental as vrbo customer support had not been helpful. We thankfully landed in a nearby home sufficient for our holiday. The owner has refused to give us any refund despite â power going out once or twice a monthâ in winter according to his sister. He offered a free stay in 2026, but we live six hours away and didnât plan on returning. And it also presumes we have funds to pay for two vacation spots. Vrbo support initially said their hands were tied to offer us any financial support since the owner refused but after prolonged discussion they have promised to refund some of the funds. The owner not helpful at all and said we had â abandonedâ our rental ( at 28 degrees, thanksgiving holiday and loads of food this is absurd). Hoping to resolve this asap. Also be aware the fourthâ bedroomâ is the living room which I didnât think was allowed.
