We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The beautiful location offered stunning ocean views, and the spacious deck expanded the outdoor living area perfectly. It was the ideal spot to relax and enjoy meals while taking in the scenery.
We are return guests and each year, we just find ourselves wishing we could stay longer! The house is just the right size, clean, lovely ocean view and cool in the shade. Diane has been so accommodating and friendly. Can't wait for next year!
This was a very comfortable stay, just across the road from a fantastic beach. There is a hose right by the door to wash off sandy feet. The wrap around porch has ample seating and the picnic table was well utilized for food and card playing. Our one glitch was that we didnât notice that linens were not included until we went to bed, but Diane got an ample supply to us by the morning. We really enjoyed our stay.
We had a great time and the cottage was sweet. The location was awesome, the deck is also awesome. Everything about the reservation went smoothly. We had a minor plumbing issue and the owner took care of it wimmediately. All in all a great spot and a great week !
This small vintage cottage has rustic charm and is a short stroll to Fortunes Rocks Beach. We enjoyed sunrise walks and sunset cocktails on the huge, flat beach. You can see and hear the ocean from the cottage, and the wraparound deck gets the warm morning sun for coffee. It's located only a 10 minute drive from charming Cape Porpoise and 15 from downtown Kennebunkport. A big plus is access to the beach via an opening in the stone wall -- avoiding the need to find parking. We loved the cottage and hope to return!
Had a great week away with my wife and our dog. The house is as described and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. The owners were quick to respond and able to help us. Short walk to the beach with small crowds during the week. Biggest downside was the low ceiling; they are quick to admit the place is small. (I'm 6'2" and it was fine but wouldn't recommend to anyone taller). Hope we can go again
The location is convenient and quiet. The beach at low tide is big and wonderful for early morning walks, but this cottage is not as advertised. There's a difference between rustic and a place that is not well maintained. The bathroom is gross especially the tub, kitchen cabinets are not clean and doors are made of rotten wood. The place needs a makeover.
The location of the cottage was excellent but is in serious need of repair, maintenance and cleaning. There was a strong odor of mold, mildew and rodent urine. in the bedrooms. The grounds were unkempt and the cupboards and pantry were disorganized with doors falling off hinges. Floors, furniture lamps, windows were dirty and and there were dirty dishes in the cupboards..
We arrived on a beautiful day in Maine to an excellent location on Fortuneâs Rocks. The cottage is bright and breezy and has the basic necessities. We were greeted by a welcome note of wine and blueberry jam. The views were just wonderful and we had a lovely week of weather. However, the cottage was in serious need of a deep clean as we encountered spider webs with dead bugs in every corner, mouse droppings and glue traps, and an odor of mothballs consistent throughout our stay. All fans and screens had dead bugs in them. Dirty pots and dishes had been stored in the cabinets as well. I have stayed in many âquaintâ locations but non in so desperate need of a a cleaning and refurbishment. Cleaning a beach house on my first day of vacation is not the definition of relaxation. Perhaps those in the future will find a clean and breezy quintessential Maine cottage.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Being steps from the beach and enjoying the spacious deck with our dog were the highlights. We enjoyed not being caught up in the hubbub of more touristy areas, but getting to a restaurant or store was a bit of an effort.
Living quarters inside were a little tight with two adults and teenage son, but we made it work.
The location was perfect. Steps from the beach. We were visiting with family who had a large house nearby so the cottage was great for our needs. We enjoyed the deck.
My husband and I have summered on Fortune's Rocks Beach since 1970. We fell in love with this cottage and it was the perfect spot to vacation with our daughters. We have spent hours on this family-friendly beach: looking for sea shells, playing in the waves, and building sand castles. Now they look forward to returning to this special place ever summer - more and more appreciative of the beauty of Fortune's Rocks.
It's affordable, cheerful and has a beautiful location - steps from one of New England's best beaches. The spacious deck is great for entertaining, morning coffee, and happy hour. While campy and older, updates are made to help update the property and improve guest experience!
