Marc's home makes you feel as though you've lived here for a long time. The photos on the VRBO listing match what you see when you walk in. The home has plenty of room to prepare meals and eat at the long dining room table. He has supplied just about everything you could need to create them. Pots and pans in multiples, spices, oils, napkins, candles, hundreds of dishes and silverware, even TWO Bic candle lighters. He has thought of everything. The bathroom separates the two bedrooms, allowing for quiet. It has a large hot shower, with shampoo and conditioner in case you forgot some. The stairs to the upstairs rooms are near the front bedroom but only occasionally did I hear the other guests coming. The bed was comfortable, and felt relatively new. The porch and small enclosed patio area are meant for a cup of coffee, glass of wine or even an outdoor meal. Marc has maintained the home very well. Very very clean. I met a few neighbors as they were working in their yards on my walk to my daughters home.
Great restaurants nearby. Try the French food cart at Growlers. Get a bowl of French onion soup and a salad, bring it home. Then return the bowl the next day. Try a beer from the vendor selling over 50 beers. Or a smoked turkey leg. Chaing Mai for excellent Thai food. Chez Machin for soup and crepes. McMenamins @ the Bagdad Theatre for burgers. These are all within a two block radius--except Chaing Mai.
Fred Meyers is across the street. The parking lot has many trees, plus the trees at the house block the view. Never felt its presence. Not having a car, I used the buses and Uber. Easy payment set up with your phone for both. Rain prevented some plans, so we went to Powells on Hawthorne, Noun on Belmont. Or walked in it. Since my daughter has moved to Portland, I have stayed at 5 different VRBO locations. By far this home is number One. I would recommend this rental to friends and family. Marc left a few notes on the trash, the keyless entry way and the laundry. You won't need further instructions, as all has been taken care of. He provided his local number should you need it, which I didn't.
Oh he has an eclectic collection of artwork, which adds to the comfort. The front bedroom has an entire wall covered in reproductions of The Blue Boy, 1770, Dutch. (had to look it up) Yet I didn't notice them initially, as the door to the hallway opens in to partially cover it. Fun diversion.
