Cette maison est un vrai bijou. PrivĂ©, confortable, spacieux, paisible et relaxant; Vous apprĂ©cierez la luxuriante. paysage luxueux dans ce paradis paisible, loin de la foule, mais proche de nombreuses plages immaculĂ©es. Ce domaine d'un acre est situĂ© dans l'un des quartiers les plus recherchĂ©s de Kona, Ă  quatre miles au nord du village de Kona, Ă  900 pieds d'altitude oĂč les jours sont 10 degrĂ©s plus frais que la cĂŽte et l'humiditĂ© est beaucoup plus confortable. Island living

If you're looking for an authentic island vibe, this is the perfect place to stay.Sandra was a fantastic host, and the property—nestled up in the mountains—offered stunning ocean views and lush, tropical surroundings. The outdoor kitchen gave us a true taste of island living, and the area was filled with beautiful wildlife. It was incredibly private and peaceful, a true escape.Our favorite part of the day was enjoying breakfast outside, taking in the breathtaking scenery and listening to the natural sounds around us.Highly recommend this magical getaway!

Paradise indeed

By far the best VRBO we have ever been to. Yes the kitchen is outside. Does it matter? No! It’s Hawaii! Delightful property, owner is very friendly and helpful. She was always prompt when answering any questions we had. Free tropical fruit and eggs. Pool is deep enough to practice your snorkeling or free diving techniques. Lovely neighborhood. Loved staying in the hills above Kona, it was always a little cooler up there. The standard by which we will judge all future VRBOs.

Amazing oasis!

My family and I stayed for a week at spring break and enjoyed our stay. This stay is the bottom floor of a large house and a giant back yard full of fruit trees. We enjoyed spending time outdoors, the ocean view and especially the fresh fruit and avocados. The hot tub was also very nice and we made use of the badmitton set and basketball hoop. Unfortunately the pool was broken during our stay, but we were given a partial refund for this and I'm sure it's fixed by now. After the crowded beaches, it was always nice to come back to this peaceful oasis. It felt very private even being in a neighborhood.

Memorable Kona Stay

Our family enjoyed our stay, with family members reporting that this was our best trip yet to Big Island. Sandra greeted us warmly upon arrival. She kindly left a few homegrown goodies for us in the fruit bowl, which was a big hit. The outdoor kitchen is very well appointed, and we did not eat out for any of our meals. Sharp knives, basic spices, proper cookware-we were not disappointed. The family grill master enjoyed having all the tools he needed to get the job done. Of course the backyard pool, toys, sunset added to the wonderful experience. The beds were a comfortable place to land at the end of the day. Plenty of linens, a spare toothbrush for the one who left his at home, toiletries-all much appreciated. The provided beach towels were thick and absorbent. The washer and dryer worked well, and it was so helpful to have cleans clothes when needed. And the location. Surprisingly convenient, to Costco, to the highway up the hill and down the hill, plus so many attractions with an easy drive's distance. Our family of 4 highly recommends a stay here while in Kona.

Fantastic Stay

This is a wonderful property with great views, beautiful pool (and hot tub) and a very comfortable home. Outdoor kitchen was well-stocked. The gardens are gorgeous too. Central location to this side of island. Highly recommend.

VRBO advertises that when you rent through vrbo you are renting the entire property & not sharing your vacation with owners. That is not the case with this property. You are renting 2 rooms in a basement of the house they live in. You see and hear them every day and are expected to adhere to quiet hours to not disturb them. We rent through vrbo vs. others so we can have a house to ourselves. In addition the room search parameters were 2 bedrooms, 2 FULL baths and a living room. There are only 2 rooms - a bedroom and a living room that has a bed in it & 1 full bath. If someone wakes up early & wants to use the living room you can’t because people are sleeping in it. When I asked the owner, who was at the “house” we rented, where the 2nd full bath was she told me there was an outside shower. That was a shower head with no privacy walls so you’d need to take a shower in your bathing suit or be ok showering nude in the open. When we got there we explained the property was not advertised accurately and we specifically searched for 2 bedroom/2 full bath house and got a 2 room basement and asked to be let out of the rental - even offered to pay a portion of the rental-so we could find something like what we searched for- she refused. Was not empathetic at all. We stayed away from the property as much as possible because it felt awkward sitting out by the pool when the owners could see/hear us from their deck. The property was beautiful and we would have loved enjoying it privately

Wonderful Stay

This property was the perfect home base for our family's first trip to Hawaii. We wanted a mix of relaxation and exploration, and Sandra's property made both of those fantastically easy. Our whole family enjoyed downtime in the pool, hot tub, and yard playing badminton while the location made it a good jump off point for trips north or south along the coast or to head towards Hilo. Also convenient for airport, groceries, and restaurants. The house was immaculately clean, the kitchen was well stocked for cooking, & the beach toys, chairs, and towels were much appreciated. The memories of the lovely ocean view looking over the gorgeous yard's diverse and beautiful foliage mixed with the bird sounds will always linger when thinking of our time there!!

Family Vacation

We had a great time staying at this beautiful home. The views are absolutely incredible. Property owner very kind and even kept out luggage after check out since we had a late flight. Outside kitchen and pool were really nice. Great place to watch the sunset.

Big Island Heaven

A perfect home base for a small family on the Big Island. Beautiful pool and hot tub, don’t even need to dry off to cook in the outdoor kitchen while still enjoying the incredible view. Owners are super nice and the property is absolutely impeccable.

Exceptional property and location

The pictures do not do the property justice. The yard is a Hawaii botanical garden. There’s fresh fruit (that you get to enjoy!) and flowers of every kind. The house is perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to town, restaurants and airport. The sunset views are so stunning, we made a point to try and be back on most nights for that. Further, the house was spotlessly clean and very well stocked in the kitchen, with towels and beach equipment. We were 2 couples concerned with privacy for each. However, we found that the house worked very well. Sandra and Ken were responsive and generous hosts. This is a place we want to go back to again.

Perfect hilltop retreat!

We had the best time at Sandra's place - it's a wonderful place that was incredibly relaxing. We took advantage of the indoor/outdoor space, the pool, hot tub and amazing views. Sandra was responsive and welcoming. We'd love to go back!

A Piece of Paradise

We had an amazing stay! The space was perfect for us and the kitchen was very well stocked. We loved watching the sunset on the 180 degree ocean view from the hot tub. The landscaping is beautiful, and we enjoyed walking around the huge yard. We snapped a photo of a green lizard with blue feet resting on a bird of paradise flower...incredible! We would love to stay here again!

Recommend neoprene vests if planning to use pool in winter

We had a great time. We found the host’s description and prior comments to be true. It is that private. Since the pool is a major feature, here is some info for planning that might be useful. We stayed during the first half of November. We travel with a kitchen thermometer (not calibrated but reasonably accurate) which I used to measure the pool in early morning and late afternoon which is when we swam. The morning temperatures ranged between about 76F and 71F as the days progressed. The afternoon temperatures were 3 – 4F warmer depending on the weather. We travel with 3 mm neoprene vests. We used the pool every day. The pool might have been too cold for us (we're both retired) without those vests. If you’re coming in the winter and don’t already have vests or shorties to keep you warm in the water, amazon lists many at very reasonable prices.

A Dream Experience

I was excited prior to arrival due to the amazing photos online, however, the photos truly do not do justice to how spectacular this property is from beginning to end. When we arrived, we were greeted by Sandra and Ken, who were welcoming. The home had so many amenities, including coffee, fresh fruit, and hygiene items if you missed something. The view is simply beautiful. Overall all, this was truly an experience. We loved the hot tub, lounge areas, and the steam room! You don't want to pass n this property...you will certainly make wonderful memories!

A Quiet Peace in Paradise

Our nine nights in this peaceful place flew by too quickly. The property, room, kitchen, pool and hot tub were perfect. Birds greeting us in the morning and gorgeous sunsets from the lanai. Amazing property for a family

We spent 5 days at the Hapuna Beach Westin, then wrapped up our 10 day trip with 5 days at this property. It is close to Costco, and just over 10 minutes from Kona, for access to other stores. We loved the property, and it has gorgeous sunset views. We were concerned that the pool might be a bit cold (we stayed in early April), but it was quite bearable, and all of us were happy to swim throughout the stay. And you always have the hot tub, which we used throughout our stay. But the kids loved the diving board. Sandra and Ken were very accommodating, and like other reviews on VRBO, you wouldn't notice them around, even though they were on the property upstairs. Certainly didn't affect us in any way. The kids also enjoyed playing badminton and basketball on the property. Love the garden, and definitely recommend a quick tour from Sandra. She'll let you know what fruits/veg are ripe & ready for harvesting. The avocados and papayas were simply amazing! Would definitely consider staying again - it's a great location, and very peaceful. Thanks Sandra for welcoming us on your property!

Great Hosts & Property

My wife and I sought out properties that we could stay at for our honeymoon trip. We were previously going to travel to New Zealand then COVID-19 happened. Then it was Scotland/Ireland/Norway, then travel restrictions remained in place. Then we decided to visit an island that we had not traveled to which brought us here. During our stay on the western part of the big island, we chose this place. It was phenomenal. The owners provided us with all the privacy we needed. We had a spacious living area, outdoor dining kitchen to make our meals, perfect pool, and a great hot tub. The views were tremendous for being up on the slopes of Kona. They had everything outlined to us in easy-to-read booklet. My wife was able to pick some fruit from the garden down on the hill. No AC is needed in this area. the ceiling fans did the job and the nights get cool enough. you get a nice breeze in at night when you sleep. Everything was well thought of when it came to Sandra & Ken's place. Of all VRBO's I have stayed at in the past, this was the best when it comes to value, accommodations, communication, and amenities. I have nothing to offer for the owners when it comes to improvements to make. I would love to stay here again in the future on future trips to the big island. Best, Mike & Devyn

My name is Sandra and I have lived in Kona since 1970. I came from California in search of cleaner beaches to ponder my future. As it turned out, I stayed - and have loved living here ever since. I have traveled the world and must say 'there is no place like home'. When my children grew and moved out I discovered that this home was too big for me, so I turned downstairs portion into a vacation retreat, which includes the pool, yard and downstairs kitchen and I'm so very happy to share this precious, peaceful place with visitors and share my knowledge of the Island as requested. Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

This particular area of Kona is perfect as far as climate and location. I have lived in many different areas of the Island, and this location is, by far, the BEST.
At 900 ft. elevation, the great views are expansive and the climate, temperate. Coastal living can be very hot in Hawaii, while we are enjoying soft trade winds to keep the temperatures perfect. I also love this location because there are approximately 12 world class golf courses within a short drive, and the harbor is just 3 miles away, a launching place for many water activities. We are on one full acre , a beautiful park with no neighbors below us, which gives us all the privacy you could ask for.

Wake up to the sweet sounds of songbirds, lounge around your private pool and soak up the warming rays of the sun. Leisurely prepare some breakfast in the outdoor kitchen while enjoying the peacefulness and beauty all around you. IF you feel like going for a little walk, this is one of Kona's most beautiful neighborhoods with safe, quiet roads and little hills or steep ones if you would like a challenge.
