The town is located on the western shore of the Orava Reservoir (Oravská priehrada in Slovakian) and was first mentioned in writing in 1558.
A large car park with a tourist information centre, an amphitheatre for cultural events and several guesthouses built in 2004 and 2005 are located directly on the lake shore. A prefabricated housing estate was built in the north of the town under the socialist rule of Slovakia, in which almost half of the population of Námestovo lives. Due to the hillside location, however, you have an excellent view of the reservoir from there.
The town is connected by a bridge to the south-eastern part of the municipality, Slanická Osada, which was formed from the village of Slanica, which disappeared into the reservoir and was incorporated in 1953. This part of the village nestles along the shore of the reservoir and consists mainly of one of the largest hotel and catering schools in Slovakia (approx. 1000 students) with a public restaurant and hotel, several guesthouses and holiday homes as well as private holiday homes. In summer, boats also sail from here to the museum island on the Arva reservoir.

Idyllic nature cottage with covered terrace and cosy fireplace for a pleasant price
The holiday home is located in a holiday park in the beautiful forest surroundings under Orava lake in the quiet part of the Slanica recreational area. The village belongs to Namestovo. Thanks to the great location of the cottage with a meadow, a small pine forest and a space for children's games, you can enjoy the unique panoramic view of the Magura Mountains.

The ground floor of the holiday home has a living room with a dining table for up to seven people, a fireplace, a TV with CD/DVD player and a music system with Bluetooth and radio function. Directly adjacent to this is the kitchenette, which is fully equipped with an oven, a (freezer) fridge with freezer compartment, a glass ceramic hob with an electric oven, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, a jug and a coffee machine and leaves almost nothing to be desired. In the house you will also find two bathrooms with a shower cubicle, a toilet, a washbasin and a washing machine. The house also has a bedroom with two single beds (0.9 m wide). The 2 bedrooms have a double bed (1.40 m wide), a single bed (0.90 m wide) and an extra bed (0.7 m x 0.22 m). 2 120cm mattresses are located in the loft. Electric heating and free WLAN are available in all rooms of the house. The landlord is happy to provide board games for young and old and children's toys.

The garden is completely enclosed and therefore also suitable for four-legged friends and children. Next to the cottage is a covered terrace with a cosy seating area, a barbecue and an outdoor seating area with a fireplace. In the garden shed
awaits you with a table and chairs where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. One car can be parked free of charge on four private parking spaces. Pets are allowed on request.
