Dog-friendly, oceanfront home in the dunes with observation deck & WiFi

New in our program, this home has many great reviews from past guests.

Nestled in the dunes on Bold Dune Drive, you'll find this beautiful little beach cottage just waiting to provide you with lasting memories of the Outer Banks.

All on one level, this bright and cheery home features a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious living and dining area, three bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. Grown-ups can have the queen primary bedroom while the kids crash in the bedroom with two sets of bunks. The third bedroom has two single beds for any other family members or friends.

Gather on the spacious, oceanfront deck or climb a little higher to the observation deck, where you can sip your morning coffee while watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is just a short walk over the dunes.

Big Break is the Outer Banks in its true form - simple, serene, sun, sand, and surf.

THINGS TO KNOW
Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility, located at the Avon office address: 41156 Hwy 12, Avon, NC 27915. The pool is generally open from May 24 to September 8, from 10 AM to 6 PM. Please note that the operation of community pools is subject to the discretion of the state inspector, management, and/or the HOA. As a result, the availability schedule may change without prior notice.

Great Family Getaway

We had a terrific stay at Big Break with the family. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The views of the ocean from the top deck were enjoyed during morning coffee and the star gazing in the evening was amazing. We were surprised to see a Space X rocket one night soar across the sky. We would definitely recommend this home and hope to visit again soon.

Great house. Did have high sand dunes to cross to and from the ocean but so did all other houses there. Does need some minor electrical work done (power cord would fall out of the sockets) but overall very nice house

Perfect vacation

Very comfortable beach house with easy access to a wonderful part of the beach. My dog chases the birds up and down the beach and says hello (politely) to everyone fishing. I love having coffee up top at the house looking at the dunes and beach in the morning.

Beautiful

Very nice, definitely dated, which did not bother me. Reminded me of growing up in my home in Connecticut. I wasn't able to climb dunes,missed swimming, didn't want pool time. But from 1 to 10, overall Id say 8.

Adorable home away from home

This house really is a cute little home away from home. It’s not the grandest but you’re ON the BEACH! The top deck has a nice view of the water, and you don’t have to look at anyone on the beach to enjoy the ocean view. Kitchen was well equipped. Internet and TV worked great for quiet evenings in. Bedding was adorable. The whole place has a very homey feel. Gate to the back deck worked out great for pets, but you could never tell a pet had been anywhere around! Washer and dryer on ground level, not the most convenient but again ON THE BEACH. Several lines for drying items outside very nice! Lovely neighborhood, quiet streets plenty far enough away from the highway. If you need a smaller sized home, this is a winner!

Clean and efficient home with excellent help

While we were there, at 430 am I woke up to realize the ac was not working. I started messaging vacasa. After checking the breakers, they had someone out there by 9am. Additionally, the microwave started sounding like a firework. They had someone there within an hour to give us a different one until they could replace the over stove unit. Overall, vacasa was very on top of concerns we had. The house was very clean.

OBX escape on the dunes

This property consists of an older home with all living amenities on one floor except for the washer and dryer which is at ground level. It has a great location just off the dunes. The kitchen was very well supplied with proper cookware (I really appreciated this!). The living room and kitchen area were adequate for our needs. The cleanliness of the home was average. There were cobwebs from the light to the ceiling, mildew/mold between the tub and surround and the foot shower handle outside and a leg of the Adirondack chair was broken. I really enjoyed having breakfasts on the top deck which overlooks the dunes, and watching the sunrises and NASA rocket that flew over!

A little disappointing...

Beach days were great and home is convenient to stores and great local spots. Appreciated the provided linens. Cons: mattresses were so bad we left a day early. Couches were also incredibly uncomfortable. Ant issue in the kitchen. Dust an inch thick on ceiling fans and dust around ducts worsened allergy symptoms. And you have to go outside and down to do laundry. The immediate dune access was almost a 90 degree angle. Fortunately, there are other paths nearby. Wanted to like this house more, but it needs some TLC and investment.

Was not what I thought

The little walk that is stated is not what they claim. Its like climbing a mountain full of sinking sand. The vents are black with I hope was just dust. The tub in master bedroom had mold come out of the drain. I attempted to clean it as best I could. Door lock worked half the time. Had to resubmit the code several times before it worked. The location was good. Not one regular grocery store anywhere close. More than likely I will not rent this home again.

If you enjoy quiet adventure, you will love climbing this BOLD DUNE! Cottage sized house was decorated to thrill any surfer! Linen service was fantastic! Picnic table on the deck perfect for our family Low Country Boil dinner!

We loved Big Break! The house was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Love all the decorations in the house and the screens on all of the windows and sliding glass door! Never experienced any problems with the house during our 2 Wk stay. Very pleased with Big Break!

Fantastic Vacation Spot

We were welcomed to a very clean and cool house! The views are amazing and the location is perfect! The dunes are big, but totally doable! Questions I had before the trip were answered quickly and thoroughly! We hope to rent this house again!
