Heart of the Village

This nautical-themed condo in the manicured Monterey-Gage community will put you right in the heart of Carlsbad Village for your next small family getaway! Take a short walk to the beach each morning, where you can spend the day swimming, boogie boarding, or sunbathing. In the evening, the kids can frolic on the lawn as you barbecue summer favorites on one of the complex's two shared gas grills. Afterward, you can curl up with a good book or watch your favorite movie or TV show.

What's nearby:
You won't have much need to drive at Monterey-Gage, because you're already in the heart of the village! Within a couple blocks, you'll find the beach and an assortment of shops and restaurants to peruse. There's also a convenience store right across the street. Public transportation is available, as well, with the train station only a half-mile away and a bus stop right in front of the property (which connects to such local attractions as Oceanside Pier and the Birch Aquarium).

Quiet Retreat close to Everything!

This unit is in the perfect spot in downtown Carlsbad. You can walk to all the nearby restaurants and the beach. The unit has everything you need plus beach gear! We will be back! need plus lots of beach gear!

Great family beach stay

Great location only 5 minutes from the beach and local to cafes, restaurants, and shops. Nice to have the beach gear available especially the umbrellas and towels. Kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking tasks like making some breakfast or the pot of Mac n cheese when you just can’t fathom taking exhausted kids to a restaurant. Just a note the laundry on the property is shared and coin op or app-pay; throw some detergent pods and dryer sheets in your luggage if you think you need it.

Great location!

This condo was in a great location. Walking distance to the beach and restaurants. It’s an upper level unit so there are some stairs to climb up. Overall we had a good experience.

Garbage disposal was not working. Frying pans were rusted out. No cooking/baking sheet was available. Besides that everything was great!

Great trip. Clean and comfortable. Easy to get to everything you want. That parking spot is super tricky plan on walking once your parked.

Awesome location!

This property/unit is located within walking distance of just about everything you could want! Shopping, restaurants and the beach are all within minutes! Please note that if you stay in unit 17, the parking space is very very tight (against a wall and a pole and a small wall behind it that doesn’t allow for good range to get in and will break your entire bumper panel when you accidentally back into it in the dark
ask me how I know 😭). I would say if you have a large truck or large suv, the parking is pretty close to impossible. Unit was clean and very well stocked. I had a glitch with the entry code they sent me. It was the wrong one and after backing into a wall and breaking my SUV, not being able to get inside without calling their call center for assistance was frustrating. We’d stay again but pick a different unit for parking or just park at the lot on the end of the street like we ended up doing!

Needs TLC, Rough Neighborhood

We reserved for two nights and left by 10 am after the first night. A few reasons why. First, the lock code given to us was for the interior door, not the lockbox on the outside of the door. We couldn't see the interior door to know there was another code lock/handle because the outside safety door was too rusted over. We had to call and sort it out with the help line. That would seem like not a big deal to most people but we have a special needs kid that was losing her mind with all the waiting. Second, the property needs attention. Housekeeping certainly did their best but when things are run down it's hard to make anything really sparkle. Disappointing since it was our first "vacation" since 2018. Third, while this is a fantastic location if you want to be close to the beach and easy-peasy walking to restaurants/shopping, we experienced three unsavory events in less than 12 hours. An individual was captured on our vehicle camera looking for a spot to do their drugs at about 2 am (left quickly when our sentry mode kicked in.) Another man in hot pants and little else picked a fight with my husband who was outside near the street minding his own business (early evening). Finally, he also witnessed a guy pick pocket another person on a bike he (the assailant) was assaulted by the person he stole from while getting his wallet back. (about 9 in the morning, seriously.) I don't think we will stay in Carlsbad again, just bizarre. High points: this condo has a bunch of beach stuff for use (chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas), kitchen full of stuff (coffee pot, toasters, knives for cutting, seasonings/coffee filters, stuff like that to help make simple meals and feel more comfortable), games/DVDs, etc. The parking spot is wonderful, easily accessible, and as I said above the building is right in the middle of all the fun.

Great location

Great location, nice condo. First impression though when walking up to the place the security door looks awful. Needs paint desperately. I’m sure it’s due to the ocean moisture but would help to make a better impression. Other than that the place was very comfortable.

Fantastic place to stay!

We loved the whole place! It was perfect for my little boys because there wasn't another apt beneath us and it was so close to the beach. We walked over there 6 times because of the convenience! We would love to use this place again.

Great location just 5 minutes from the beach. Very comfortable and you did not hear the street noise. There was the coastal train that went by. We had everything we needed there.

Beach rental

We loved the location and the home was very cute and comfortable. Unfortunately we weren’t able to enjoy it as much as normal due to all the shut downs . I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to friends and family.
