This is a beautiful property right on the river with plenty of space and a comfortable home. We had our extended family stay and there’s plenty of room and so much to do. Thanks so much to the property owners for a beautiful stay!

My family and I had such a great time at Steve's home and are already planning our next trip back. The large shaded yard and the cold river helped us bear the August heat and we were able to have fun outside all day. The water is deep for swimming and fishing and my kids loved the rope swing. The river felt like our own private space the entire weekend. We also enjoyed our nights in the hot tub and the view of the lightning bugs and stars. There were 4 bikes on property but only two were able to maintain air. My husband and I rode into town and I got to relive a childhood memory as I had not riden a bike in years. Don't hesitate to book your stay.

The property is beautiful with well manicured grass to the river bank. The cypress trees provide a natural canopy of shade and there is a picnic table on River bank that is convenient. The river is not very wide but it’s deep enough to jump off rope swing. It’s also spring fed so it’s cold, but not unbearable. The kids had a great time fishing, swimming, jumping off rope swing and catching fireflies at night. We had 15 in our group ages 5 to 87 and the house was big enough to accommodate all. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals and there is a large pit/smoker outside for your grilling needs. The hot tub was unfortunately not operating, but Steve let us know about it ahead of time and allowed an early check in, due to the inconvenience. Truth be told it wasn’t an inconvenience at all as I don’t recall our group asking about it one time. The town of Utopia is just up the road and the general store has anything you need in case you forget something. We had an excellent time and everyone was bummed about having to leave. If you’re looking for a beautiful private rental this is an excellent spot, especially for larger groups. 5 star review.Scott

The pictures don’t do this place justice! La Hacienda in Utopia was everything we needed for a perfect vacation. It’s the kind of spot where you never have to leave to eat, swim, fish, play, relax, and sleep all in one place.Our group ranged from ages 13 to 75, and everyone had a great time. Within the first five minutes, the family fisherman caught a 2.5 lb bass! The water was clear, flowing, and perfect for private swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The property is beautifully landscaped with shady cypress trees and wide green lawns for relaxing or playing catch.The adults loved the hot tub, the big kitchen made family meals easy, and the four bedrooms had plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably. Best of all it was just a short drive from San Antonio. Truly a 10/10 stay. Something for the whole family to enjoy.

I do not often give outstanding reviews of anything but La Hacienda deserves it. I first stayed at this property 10 years ago when it was under different management. Steve, the new manager, is a wonderful human and gave great service and knowledge of the local area. You know how you can't ever capture the majesty of mountains in a photograph? It's the same here; the pictures promise a delightful stay, but when you are there, it's so much nicer and peaceful than the pictures convey.The river is swimming depth year-round, and my friends and I had fun on the rope swing and hanging out at different areas on the grounds all with some great natural beauty. This house and its grounds are large enough that, I suspect, even if there were 20 people here, one could find a comfortable moment of aloneness in nature. clean hot tub kitchen is very well stocked strong wifi (but I recommend putting screens down while here!) fish, deer, rabbits, and more wildlife galore cool, shaded riverThe only minus I can think is that the porch railing all along the backside is in need of repair. If you lean on it, the entire railing bends; we thought it would break when 2 people leaned on it at the same time. I am confident that Steve is the kind of person who would take this seriously, and if he deems it unsafe, he will take care of it.Overall, this is a rare and true gem among Hill Country properties; take it from this native Texan and Hill Country enthusiast. Thanks, Steve!

Great place for a family gathering. Enjoyed the spacious layout. Quite peaceful and secluded space. Really enjoyed our stay, can’t wait to go back! Steve was very communicative pending weather updates and was very nice. For future travelers make if you want a Walmart or HEB go before you arrive. Closest store like this is 45 minutes away.

We are so very appreciative to have had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful property on the pristine Sabinal River. The house was very comfortable and spacious and we loved that the kitchen/dining area faced out to the absolutely breathtakingly beautiful bank of the river. We enjoyed the rope swing and lots of swimming and the bird-watching was amazing (lots of hummingbirds). Deer were plenty, too. Absolutely would stay here again. We didn't want to leave!!

We had such a great time here! The property was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. The host was friendly and responsive, and check-in was easy. We loved spending time at the river and relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. The kitchen was large and well equipped, and the entire property felt welcoming and well cared for.It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. We made some wonderful memories during our stay and would definitely return in the future.

The house was very clean, well stocked kitchen and linens/towels. Two full size refrigerators was really convenient, we had food in one and drinks in the other. Check in & out was simple. The Hacienda decor inside & outside is nice and had a relaxing vibe! The hot tub on the patio was perfect for hanging out, we kept the heat down to more of a room temperature feel for entertaining the grandkids while taking a break from the river. The views of the river, giant trees, butterflies and birds is spot on as well. We all loved watching the mass quantity of fireflies each evening, with all the native plants and trees it made for a magical experience! A great place for a large group because of the house size, the extra large patio area and vast, separate fire pit seating area, volleyball net and multiple swings, picnic tables throughout the shady lawn area between the deck and river with thick green grass you could walk barefoot through! It’s a large property with total privacy! Also, a shout out to The Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia, incredible food, pie and excellent prices and service!
