Great location, butâŠ..
Iâll start with the positives. Weâve stayed at Island Winds for 10+ yrs, great location and walking distance to restaurants and shops. The one bedroom is the perfect size and cost for 2. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and easy to work with.
Now, the negatives. Cleanliness was a big issue with this unit. We noticed the refrigerator handle was sticky, but thankfully the inside was spotless so we bought cleaner and a scrub brush. When I sprayed the cleaner, immediately brown, dirty ick started running down the door. It made me mad that I was having to do this on my vacation! I wiped the cleaner off the floor where it had pooled. It had turned into goo with all the dirt and grime on the floor. It was gross. We decided to wear socks instead of going barefoot because our feet were filthy by the time we unpacked and put everything away. However, my socks are now stained and wonât come clean even after treating them with stain remover.
The bathroom fixtures need to be replaced, the tub ones are falling off. Need shelves in the bath. Only one tiny frying pan in the kitchen. Kitchen shelf paper looks like itâs from the 50s. Some occupants refuse to follow the no smoking rule, so balcony use was limited. And Iâll have to stop there because Iâm running out of my allotted space for the review.
We will return to IW but not to this unit until it receives a deep cleaning and some updates are made.
