Aloha! I'm Kathleen!
In 1980, as part of a 3-person crew, I set sail on a 42-foot catamaran off the coast of California. After a 19-day voyage across the vast and majestic Pacific Ocean, I arrived on the sandy shores of the Big Island of Hawaii. But, it was the island of Maui that ultimately captured my heart and where I called home for 43 years.
While the ocean and beach were my ultimate playground, my career years were spent as a registered nurse, a boat captain, a dive shop owner/scuba instructor, CPR business owner/instructor, a college professor and established a foster family care program for seniors as an alternative to nursing homes.
As a haole (non-Native Hawaiian), I embraced the Hawaiian culture and learned to hula dance, play the ukulele and deepened my appreciation for the beautiful landscapes and marine life that Maui offers. Over the years I met many fascinating travelers and formed many friendships throughout the island community.
Before I knew it, I was part of Maui’s Ohana (family). I hope you enjoy my little piece of paradise as much as I have and I hope that you too, will become part of the Ohana and continue to visit for years to come! --- Aloha e komo mai, Kathleen
