Even though this home sits across the street, it has an excellent view of the Mississippi River, is very clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch and watching the river activity. Communication was excellent and the only complaint is the trains going by at night and some squeaky doors, but to be expected with an older home. Be aware that there are no bedrooms or shower on the main level and the downstairs bathroom and shower upstairs are very tiny, but nice and clean. There are also a few stairs at the street and to get into the front porch of the house. We enjoyed our stay.

The Mississippi Hideaway is a beautiful home right along the Mississippi River with beautiful views from the screened in porch. The home was perfect for our family of 5. The home is very clean and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Highly recommend to anyone needing a home away from home!

Excellent stay except for the broken washing machine. It caused us to have to buy additional clothing. The kitchen was excellent! I appreciated all the special touches. The location to the Mississippi River was a plus. Watching all the boats and barges sail by while sitting on the front porch was neat.

The Mississippi Hideway was just as charming as its little town of Princeton Iowa. The host did not miss a detail with the added little amenities - from condiment packets to personal hygiene items. The house was clean, the decor was on brand and the beds were comfortable. We loved seeing the trains and the boats. We can't wait to visit again.

The kitchen had everything we needed and two cooks had plenty of space to work. The living spaces were open yet cozy. The beds were very comfortable. The screened in front porch was lovely with a nice view. There is also a nice back porch area. The property was very clean. The quiet neighborhood suited us. It was easy to get to surrounding communities like LeClaire and Davenport. The host was very easy to communicate with and accommodating. We would absolutely stay there again.

Wedding Weekend

We had a lovely visit for the Frazer-Johnson wedding at the barn. The kitchen was well appointed for making breakfast. The porch swing with a river view was a serene spot for morning coffee. This historic home was charming and the hostess communicated quickly when we had a question.We highly recommend.

Our Mississippi stay!

The Property was classic for our Mississippi River Stay! We even got to see the boats and barges going up and down the River from the screened in porch! However, we didn't see the stairs in the pictures and had one person unable to climb the stairs up to the bedrooms. Maybe add one photo of the stairs so people find it obvious. Just a suggestion to make the stay even more excellent!Kindly

We came up for a wedding and had trouble finding a hotel room because of a concert being the same weekend! So we looked on VRBO, and I’m so happy we did! Chelsey was super accommodating and flexible and made an exception for our *slightly* larger group to stay since it was mostly kids and let us check out late on Sunday so we didn’t have to find something to do for 3 hours in between check-out and meeting a family member for lunch! The house was clean, she had snacks waiting for us in a basket on the counter when we got there, the beds were comfy, and her check-out process was super easy, with just a few simple requests listed. The two main rooms on the upper level have mini splits installed which was really nice because I like a very cold room to sleep in at night. We spent 85% of our time on the screened-in front porch, which was my favorite part of the house! I loved the porch swing and spent both mornings out there reading. The house is adorable and has so much old home charm! We also loved the big bathtub to soak in! Dollar General is less than a mile away and Casey’s is even closer, which was great when we forgot to grab a couple things. There Is a pocket park across the street to sit and look at the river and we also really liked having the bags game set up in the basement! It was something different to keep our bigger kids entertained. Can’t say enough good things about this stay! We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend and we would definitely stay here again!

This property was very clean with very comfortable beds. The property had a couple nice areas to enjoy the outdoors with one being a screened in porch. This part is for informational purposes only and worked for us but maybe not for others. While I do appreciate a 2nd bathroom especially on the 1st floor it was very small and should reflect that in pictures along with pictures of staircase. My sons are over 6 feet and would not have been able to use that toilet sitting down if it would have been a family trip. It also might be hard for older people to use the steps to get to bedrooms. While I also was not bothered by the trains (they go by very frequently) I definitely would not have felt comfortable renting this place if I had small children. No fenced in yard to keep them away from the train tracks.While disappointed in not finding out the washer or dryer was broken last week it would have been nice if told that at time of reservation not 2 hours before check in. I still think it was a 5 rating overall for us but just wanted to mention other things because renting a place for vacation details and descriptions really do matter to us.
