GREAT STAY! You could not ask for a better location! Sunrise in the morning on the Bay and Sunset at night across the street. The Pacific Ocean is less than a 10 minute walk. The unit was clean, the bed was comfy, linens nice and pillows were wonderful. Kitchen had everything to get started except a modern working coffee maker. Everything you need is within walking distance, grocery, coffee, laundry, souvenirs. Unless you plan to do "tourist" things around SD, you really don't need a car. If you have a car, the garage is tricky, I scraped up my rental and hit the actual garage. John told me to just enjoy my stay and he would deal with it. All I needed to do was pay for the damage I made, reasonable price. The unit has been updated since these pics. Nice cabinets and sink in kitchen, new sink and wonderful tile shower in bathroom. I experienced a few maintenance issues but nothing that really affected my stay. John was quick to respond and things were taken care of the same day. All of the owner communication was outstanding from booking to leaving. I would stay again and recommend this location to anyone looking in Mission Beach. LOVED IT!

The host failed to communicate ahead of purchase that the adjoining unit was under heavy construction. This made working remotely incredibly difficult and inconvenient. Would not have rented here if we were aware of this going in.

While we were pleased with the location, the home could use some updating. The kitchen window was covered in dried bugs, the couch had a hole in the front of it and could use a cleaning or replaced. There could also be some sort of window blinds or curtains in the kitchen area windows.

Arrived to the unit at 9pm to no bedding for the pull-out sofa. Had to run out to Target (only store open at this hour) to purchase sheets and a quilt for my toddler. Sheets were dropped off the following afternoon, but quilt/comforter was not dropped off until day four. Construction in the next door unit made for a less-than-peaceful experience during day hours. My toddler and wife, who were feeling ill, were unable to rest mid-day.On the third morning, the plumbing work next door caused our toilet to flood, filling the bathroom with urine and wastewater. We were then without water and a bathroom for the next six hours while the issue was remedied. Ongoing construction also caused the lights to flicker off and on regularly.The unit's furnishings and floor did not feel very clean. No broom and vacuum was provided to help clean up sand and other debris tracked into the unit.Parking in the garage is difficult, but not a deal-breaker. Something to be aware of if you struggle with driving.Pros: the location is great, steps from many restaurants, shops, trails, and the beach. Perhaps the rest of the items can be addressed for future stays.

We truly enjoyed our stay. This was exactly what we were looking for. Being able to walk to beach and bay but far enough away for peace and quiet. It was a perfect base camp for all of our adventures. Also when they say the garage is for a compact car that is what will fit best. We had rented a compact SUV and it took a little maneuvering but we made it work.
