Sweet Retreat at Mark Twain Lake! Historic 4BR/2BA Dog & Family Friendly Home!

Welcome to the Sweet Retreat! Built in 1910, this magnificent dog and family friendly historic home has lots to offer! Our home features 4 large bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, with room to comfortably sleep 8-12 people; two moveable twin mattresses, two air mattresses, a child mattress, a pack n' play, and 5 couches increase sleeping capacity. Boat and trailer parking available! Hunters and fishermen welcome! Ask us about our whitetail deer and turkey outfitting packages!

On the patio, you will find a fire pit and outdoor seating where you can relax after a long day on the lake. A gas grill is provided for you and your guests to use while relaxing in this quiet lakeside town. The large open lot to the east side of the home provides an area for yard games and outdoor activities.

Once you step inside our home, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, complete with new appliances for 2025! Our large kitchen has everything you need to prepare a cozy dinner for two or a large family meal. I have also supplied you with a regular coffee maker, toaster, blender, foreman grill, and air fryer. The dining room is furnished with an over-sized table and has enough room to seat a gathering of ten. We haven’t forgotten about the little ones in the family, as we have provided a high chair and children’s dinnerware! The china cabinet provides information on the area as well as a variety of reading material to enjoy.

Two spacious living areas allow you and your guests plenty of room to spread out, relax, watch TV, or play a variety of board games. We have provided a mix of family friendly DVD’s for your enjoyment as well as a Roku you can log in to for your own content. For the gamers out there, we have a PlayStation4 and a Nintendo Classic – make sure you bring your favorite PS4 games! A sun room is located just off the living area and is stocked with toys to entertain children on a rainy day, or can provide a quiet area to read a book while enjoying the view of the serene setting.

The grand entry and stairwell has a cozy office nook for those who might need to sneak in a little work. Our high-speed WiFi will keep you entertained and connected during your stay! The spacious downstairs bedroom offers a queen bed with a large walk-in closet. Just off the dining room, you will find a full bathroom with a tub/shower combo. We provide a baby bath and potty training stool for our little guests as well!

As you go up the grand staircase, you will find a small sitting area on the upstairs balcony landing with a window overlooking the beautiful front yard. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have queen beds, closets, and dressers for clothes. The fourth bedroom/laundry area has a full sized futon for extra sitting or sleeping capacity. The brand new stacked LG Washer and Dryer allow you to do laundry during your stay so you can minimize packing to make room for great souvenirs from the area! An iron, ironing board, and drying rack are also stationed in this room. Also on this level, you will find the second full bathroom with tub/shower combo. We offer two movable twin mattresses, a child mattress, and a pack n’ play for use anywhere in the home; sheets and waterproof mattress provided. (Coming soon – BUNK BEDS or trundles for the young ones!)

The large yard provides plenty of room for your four legged friends to enjoy!

**PLEASE NOTE: We charge a $50 pet fee with a limit of 2 dogs (additional dogs considered upon request). Please send a message letting me know the breed of dog(s) you are bringing. Please pick up dog waste and do not allow dogs on furniture. If leaving dogs alone in house, please crate them to ensure their safety and to reduce risk of damage to the property.

Rentals: We offer bicycle, kayak, and fishing pole rentals upon request.

The home location offers many opportunities for fun and relaxation. The home is located just minutes from Mark Twain Lake, boat ramps, the state park, and much more. Mark Twain State Park is nearby with hiking, swimming, disc golf, and many outdoor activities. Jelly Stone water park and outdoor gaming area is just down the road. Come escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life; slow down and fall in love with Perry, Missouri’s small town charm. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the opportunities to fish, boat, hike and more. Shopping lovers can enjoy the variety of small shops located in downtown Perry. History buffs can explore the birthplace cabin of Mark Twain at the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site. All this and more is within easy reach of our location.

**SMOKING, VAPING, OR MARIJUANA USE IS NOT PERMITTED INSIDE THE HOUSE! IF YOU SMOKE INSIDE THE HOUSE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED $350 TO HAVE THE HOUSE TREATED.

**NO ILLEGAL DRUGS OR UNDERAGE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IS ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY!

**NO HOUSE PARTIES OR LOUD MUSIC WILL BE TOLERATED!

**DO NOT MOVE FURNITURE! Moving furniture can cause damage to the furniture and to the flooring, not to mention someone can get hurt doing so. If you have a request regarding the furniture arrangement, please contact us for consideration. There will be a fee charged for moving furniture without permission from the Host or CoHost. This does not include the movable twin mattresses, child mattress, and pack n play.

**You are provided with a start up of toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags. This is usually enough to get you through the 1st night of your stay. You are responsible for providing any extra items you may need for the remainder of your stay.

We are happy to bring you firewood for an additional cost if you have no way to transport it. We do not provide firewood for the fire pit unless requested. You can purchase firewood at local grocery and convenience stores as well as firewood stands located throughout the area.
