We thoroughly enjoyed our month long stay! The property far exceeded our expectations in every way. Fully equipped to meet your every need, the online pictures do not do it justice. The Host accommodated our every need and the caretaker staff were a pleasure to deal with. We drove away looking forward to our next extended stay!
From the very beginning, and throughout our 6 week stay, we couldn't have been happier! The owners were incredibly kind and responsive, and the neighbors were super friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the sidewalks and nature trails right outside the door to condition ourselves for larger hikes in the magnificent Madera Canyon. Sunrises and sunsets were awesome! The location of this neighborhood is ideally far enough from the busier parts of Green Valley, yet just a couple minutes away from shopping, dining, golfing, etc.
First of all, the photos don't do this place justice. I thought it would be very nice from the photos, but it is fantastic! I entered through the front door to a hallway that opens to a great room, complete with high ceilings and clerestory windows that add just enough light to make the room bright and airy feeling. The master suite is large, as is the master bath. There are two extra bedrooms and a guest bath just across the hall.
Back to the master bedroom - the bed is heavenly. It's a tempurpedic bed that is so comfortable that I slept like a log every night. If you simply can't go to sleep, the head of the bed rises for better tv viewing (not that I ever needed that).
The kitchen is well stocked with every kind of dish or pan you may ever need. The appliances are all newer models and work wonderfully. The washer and dryer are also newer models with all the bells and whistles.
The back yard has grass - almost unheard of in the Tucson area - and the grass adds both ambiance and coolness during the summer. This was so appreciated during the hot end of June and beginning of July. Out back is an additional space with an additional full bath. I used that space as a work studio and got so much more work completed that I would have without a private space.
While the home itself is lovely, the area definitely has lots going for it. This is a bird lover's paradise, only 10 miles up the road is Madera Canyon, one of the US top birding spots. This trip, I saw a trogan which is a brilliant colored southwestern parrot! Madera Reserve itself is also an area with both abundant birds and wildlife.
The owners are gracious, and quickly responded to any questions I had. I will definitely return to Green Valley, as my mother lives there year round. When I do, I will try my best to snag this place as my base for my next visit.
Nature Abounds in Comfortable Madera Foothills Home
Our rental home in Madera Reserve provided us with everything we were looking for in a warm winter retreat. Located in the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains, the immediate yard and surrounding neighborhood was beautifully designed with Sonoran desert naturalized landscaping; giving us the feeling of being "away" in an exotic location.
As birdwatchers, we truly enjoyed the variety of birds that came into the yard, visiting the feeders or just passing through on their daily routines. The location of the house also afforded us close by and convenient driving to several mountain locations where we could hike and bird watch more aggressively.
A private yard was nicely appointed with comfortable patio furnishings and a huge gas grill.
The home's interior was very comfortable and roomy with all the amenities we were looking for including a large master suite and bathroom. The owners were very welcoming and responded immediately to any and all questions that we had.
We highly recommend this property!
We very much enjoyed our month's stay. It's a most tastefully decorated, yet very comfortable vacation home in a peaceful quiet neighborhood. The house was equipped with everything we needed. The backyard is a little oasis in the desert with many beautiful blooming flowers.
Neighbors on both sides introduced themselves upon our arrival, and offered any assistance we might need.
We were here for a month, and we hated to leave. The home was clean, comfortable, and fully equipped with what we needed. There are three nice-size bedrooms. The Master Suite is large, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our daughters, who visited for a weekend, reported their beds also were very comfortable. All the bedrooms have 2-inch wooden blinds. The front yard is landscaped with pretty shrubs and cacti. The big surprise was the green grass in the back yard--a rarity in Arizona. As we sipped our coffee from the kitchen nook, we enjoyed looking across the grass to the Casita (a separate building used for extra living space with closet and pretty bathroom). There is no bed in the Casita; however, if the owners allowed it, a blow-up bed could be put in it. The living room has an extremely large television, about 60 inches, which we enjoyed. The house is light and airy because of the many windows. We were so impressed with the southwestern colors in each room that we plan to do similar painting to our home in Colorado. The outside furniture was comfortable, and the bar-b-que grill worked great. Green Valley has a Farmers' Market each Wednesday, and we found some treasures there that are nowhere else. We found good Mexican restaurants and a variety of fun sight-seeing things to do. We especially liked the quietness of the neighborhood and the lack of traffic everywhere. We also liked how close to Tucson this area is, and we went to the Gem Show that is held each year in Tucson. After 45 years of looking, I found two pieces of lavender jade (lavender is rare) at the show. I highly recommend this house and the Green Valley/Tucson area for a fabulous vacation. We will always remember this trip.
