Very sorry for your disappointment with your stay overall, and the grills being the main complaint. I had that remedied alreaddy as I passed your info that you gave me at the end of your stay on to the site manager. I would have certainly jumped right on it and gotten them worked on (or replaced) had you mentioned your troubles with the grills, especially if you had told me your whole vacation time was going to be ruined without having them working right, and possibly, I could have saved this condo from getting 3 stars due to the grills. It would be quite the challenge getting the smoke from either set of grills clear to your lanai, and I have never heard anything like that before. No complaints of grill smoke in all the years I've had the unit. The photos really represent the condo well and I'm sorry if you somehow thought it was larger. And the photos are very current, so I'm not sure what wasn't as neat as you wanted, but I don't see that in reviews either. Oceanfront units do often show signs of wear due to the constant misty salt air getting on everything all the time and in my opinion, there is always room for improvements in these oceanfront places . . but this unit is really loved by most, even without A/C, and they choose to come back to it over and over so hopefully it will continue with that with the majority of guests staying in the unit and happy with their choice.

And thank you for your nice compliment!😊 Just so any readers aren't confused on location, I wanted to clarify that the condo actually is not located in a busy neighborhood in downtown Kona. It is located about 2 miles south of downtown area on the oceanfront drive. The resort (Kona Bali Kai) is popular, so can be busy at times, but most the time it's pretty calm there! (Except the ocean) The closest restaurant is about 1 mile from the condo (I wish it was just 1/2 mile!!!), but also a great specialty deli right on site as well as a coffee shop/breakfast sandwich shop too. The condo doesn't have A/C and is not listed as having, so if visiting in our hottest months of the year, it can definitely be more of a tropical feel with just the ocean breeze and ceiling and floor fans to cool you off. I'm glad you decided to stay in the condo and enjoyed what it did have to offer!!

In this business, of course, this is one of the worst situations . . a breakdown in the system, and then a surprised and unhappy guest. I was available to these guests immediately, and apologized, and actually had another lovely, actually an upgrade, oceanfront all ready for them just 1 floor down. They would have loved it. The condos photos depict it perfectly and it is a nice spacious property with a very large lanai compared to most of the other oceanfront properties in Kona (it is well know for its lanais and proximity to ocean and spaciousness) Can't blame anyone for being upset at the initial discovery, but to have the property manager at your service immediately, and have a more than comparable solution (I offered them to stay in the new place either just the one night and then move to their original the following day, or, they could stay in the alternate unit their whole stay) but there was no working with them at all and they wouldn't even look at it (their loss). It was a much better solution, with less trauma than looking for another place at that time of day/evening, and it was an offer that any other guest that I've worked with in the past would have at the very least, considered and helped in trying to rectify the situation, and their vacation. Unfortunately, these things happen. even in hotels, and most of the time (nearly all the time) the guests would be happy to accept an upgraded room at the same price. Under these circumstances, they had an awesome alternative to the error made by myself and crew. They knew from the reviews (that was one of the reasons they booked the condo were the reviews of it and myself) that the condo was very well liked, and that I was an excellent host, so they knew they were not dealing with an uncaring large property management company. I was available immediately and wanted to fix the error and provide them with a great stay (all with in literally 15 minutes and there would have been no waiting, just walking to another condo on property) Please read through all the reviews for this condo to see the drastic difference between this one experience, and everyone else's. These accidents do happen with human error and it is all how they are responded to and remedied that makes the difference. I'm afraid these guests were not understanding, reasonable people. I will definitely say, other hosts, beware. Look at what they wrote in title knowing that it was a one time error. So silly to say Do Not Stay Here!
