Take a walk and you find yourself tracing Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway. Garage Included. This time we wanted to design something elegant and fun. This Kettlestrings' Home, built in the 1880s had a wonderful attic, that had been untouched for a 130-years. We brought in Errol Kirsch, a renown urban architect. The village of Oak Park made sure we combined the old with the new meeting all historic requirements. The result is an elegant space with an exquisite bathroom for the sophisticated guest.
The loft was beautiful and the location was perfect. We didnât have any issues, but there are several stairs to get up to the loft and stairs in the loft. We walked to the park and Courageous Bakery. Would stay here again!
Very clean and recently updated loft. Plenty of room for a family with a separate bedroom for parents. Tree lined and safe neighborhood in beautiful Oak Park. Bathroom is spacious and clean with amenities. This was not a problem for us but there are three flights of stairs to reach loft and three inside steps once you enter premise.
The Oak Park loft pictures donât do it justice. It is very large and all the special little touches, from the design and furnishings to the beautiful crib, rocking chair, and games for kids were all chosen with love and caring. Every kitchen supply was available, the bathroom massive with plenty of room to spread out (we women have lots of stuff!), and I could access all my favorite tv apps. The neighborhood was gorgeous and it was so fun to walk around such a historic area. Just be prepared for hiking up many steep stairs!
Kettil and Caroline have been short term rental hosts since 2021. They put a lot of pride in what they do having the ambition to make every guests stay a success.
On the 4th of July in 2021 the couple walked in and fell in love with the Kettlestrings' Home, a central piece of Oak Park History. Them acquiring the building started a development that is still going on. This remarkable piece of American Architecture has seen a soft but firm renovation. All historic features have been kept intact. The Oak Park Loft is now a combination of historic details and modern elegance.
This is the building were the Village of Oak Park got started. The Kettlestrings capitalized on the demand created by the 1871 Chicago Fire, - the rest is history. A cascade of bankers, executives and architects soon flooded their Farmland. At the turn of the century Oak Park had become the cradle of American Prairie Style Architecture spearheaded by Architects like Frank Lloyd Wright and EE Roberts. Ernest Hemingway would soon be born right next door to the Kettlestrings Property.
