This cabin was a great ski getaway. The Location is as good as it gets, to ski, and drive into Ruidoso downtown. The views are amazing and the hot tub at night, wow! We will be back. Thanks Alex, we had a blast.
This was a truly epic vacation for my husband and me. The cabin was comfortable and had very stylish decor. The mountain side property is gorgeous with breath taking views, great trails and an excellent site for photography. The property managers were friendly and helpful. The whole property is free of smoking, probably due to the recient wild fires, it's good to see they're protecting Lincoln National Forrest! We will definitely stay again.
This was a cute and cozy little cabin. Beautiful and semi-remote area. Drive up to the cabin is very steep. Host was very responsive. Would stay here again.
I have many complaints about this cabin. #1 NO LOCK!!!! We had to stay our while trip with out a lock on the door( no lock , no handle, just a hole where it should be) when I talked to the guy about it he said the someone broke in a few days before but reassure me there is nothing but good people around and said we were safe...... Wow!! #2 UNLESS YOU HAVE A BIG TRUCK.... YOU WONT MAKE IT UP THE HILL. We had to hike up a 1/4 mile up a very steep hill...IN THE SNOW AND RAIN!!! With all of our luggage and groceries for 4days. #3 if you are claustrophobic in any way.... Don't get this cabin. Bathrooms are as big as airplane bath rooms and the showers are 2ft by 2ft#4 the shower heads are gross! And pressure is bad. Kitchen sink as well. #5 the lofts are a joke. You WILL hit ur head more then a few times, even if your crawling. #6 most outlets don't work#7 Wi-Fi is very bad...
This place is extraordinarily small - living room and master bedroom are each 6'-6" x 10' with a 6'-6" ceiling height. Bedrooms upstairs via a ladder have a maximum 3' ceiling height (you will still hit your head on your hands and knees). The only storage for clothes is a small cabinet partially blocked by the bed. Freezer has not been wiped out in several years, pillows in the living room were covered in hair and a white substance, and the outdoor picnic table was rotted and could not be used. Several electrical outlets in the kitchen were not operable, both showers barely drained and there were no outside operable lights. The road up to the cabin is extraordinarily steep, is mud, and has numerous holes or gullies that will damage your car if your wheels find their path. The sign at the bottom of the hill states "Travel at your own risk - wrecker not on duty". Though of no consequence, one example says it all - the ice tray was broke in two and individual ice cells that had holes were marked "do not fill".
This place may be suitable for ski bums trying to find a place to "crash", but if you are an adult - look elsewhere. In 40 years of travel, this place was the worst.
Property owner was responsive and worked with us on our dissatisfaction but, that being said, there are quite a few issues here. First the path to cabin cannot be called a driveway. It is very steep, loose dirt and gravel, with deep holes. Four wheel drive would be suggested but all wheel drive might work. Our half ton 2 wheel drive pickup made the ascent but with much difficulty and peril. Go fast as the neighbor suggested.
Second the cabin is cozy and efficient but needs some basic repairs, a little money and time would take care of these. Furnishings are adequate but dated, chief complaint was uncomfortable mattress in master. Not good for bad back and only bed on ground floor. I would have loved this place in my youth but not so much in my latter years.
Once again, the owner was super accommodating and refunded our money for the remainder of stay not used, a very nice gesture not required of him, it has a beautiful view and wind through the pines is certainly a peaceful sound. Just wasnât right for us.
The cabin is great, had cooking ware, dishes etc. The large porch with the large gas grill is great with a nice view off the back. If you walk/climb up the hill a little ways behind the property there is an incredible view of the mountain range. If youâre looking for a small cabin in the mountains for a get away, itâs ideal. Weâd certainly stay again.
beautiful location and fabulous views. I can see the road up to the Jesse James cabin might give some problems in bad weather but we made it fine when it was warm and dry. The only thing keeping me from giving this a 5-star rating was how the interior was laid out and arranged. A foot or two bigger in width would have helped a lot. Also it did not have a closet. There was a wardrobe cabinet that was at the foot of the bed but the space only allowed for it to be facing the foot of the bed. To use the cabinet you have to climb on the bed. But we were there four days and made do all right. Other cabins close by but still had the feel of being away from everything.
great place to get away from everyday life, the cabin is far from town but not to far. The private hot tub was great looking into the mountains. make sure to show up during the day the drive is very narrow and steep, we showed up late at night and it was a hassle to get to the place. overall great place we will be back!!
Fully equipped. The kids loved the upper level beds. Beautiful views. I give 4 stars just for the inconvenience to get to the top of the hill where the cabin is located. It is a steep hill that along with loose gravel can get difficult to get to. 4x4s should no have a problem. Other than that we enjoyed so much our stay. Family time has no price.
Cabin was very small but perfect for
Our needs. Sunrises and sunsets we spectacular. We were visited every evening by a herd of mule deer and often were greeted at the entrance by the wild Horses. If you want touristy this is not the cabin for you but if you want quiet and amazing views this is the cabin . Driveway is tricky and not for the faint of heart but worth the effort. Loved the new hot tub deck that allowed for spectacular star gazing.
This was the most relaxing getaway on the side of a mountain. There were a few things that need some work but overall the peacefulness and relaxation in the hot tub was amazing. We are coming back.
My husband and I were looking for a place to relax and get away from the hot temperatures of Texas. The cabin provided just that and yet had all the comforts of home. We spent our days hiking and checking out the nearby towns of Ruidoso and Cloud Croft. We spent many hours on the peaceful porch just reading and listening to the elk bugling. The hot tub on the new deck area was another place to relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery around us. One morning we even had an up close visit with the wild horses.
Thank you Alex, for sharing your little gem of a cabin.
Ruidoso is a great getaway in the summer to escape the heat and to hike in the cool mountains. In the winter Ski Apache is only 10 miles away and offers a great place to mountain bike and zip line in the summer. You will be blown away by the views from the deck. There are two bathrooms in the cabin along with Direct TV. The Village of Ruidoso is 10 minutes away and offers unique shops and restaurants.
You will be far enough away from the lights of the town to feel like you are secluded but close enough to town for last minute shopping. The hot tub is a great way to spend your evening under the stars.
