My family enjoyed our 2 weeks here, we loved the large living room, huge backyard and very nice patio for outdoor meals.
The owners were extremely communicative and helpful.
Cute Beach House, close to downtown Vineyard Haven
We had a great stay on Martha's Vineyard. The house was in a great location, close to downtown VH. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking essentials, but the fridge could use some cleaning out of expired items prior to guest arrival. The bathrooms were all updated and clean. The two main bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The guest bedrooms were on the small side, but everything you need for someone staying just a few nights. We were told when we arrived that using the air conditioner and microwave at the same time could result in a power outage, but we learned the hard way that running a hair dryer upstairs with the AC running also resulted in electrical issues. Unfortunately this left half of the upstairs without AC one evening when it was unseasonably hot outside. It did happen twice more during our 3 week stay, which is a bit frustrating when you're trying to get ready to leave for dinner! We figured out how to operate the switch board in the basement, so the problem was solvable. All in all, this is a great no-frills house for a fun beach getaway.
The highlight of our experience, was our interaction with the owners; they were lovely! They are so accommodating and responsive. I've never stayed at a home that was so well stocked. The only thing you might need to take into consideration is seating. My husband has a very bad back and found it difficult to find a chair/sofa to sit in to read a book. But heck, we're getting old!
We loved staying in this house and we loved Martha's Vineyard. The house is well located and stocked with beach stuff. The kitchen has plenty of gadgets that you could easily cook a whole meal. The yard is beautiful and it is pleasant to sit outside. It was an easy wall/drive to Vineyard Haven and the island is easily accessible from the house. I would recommend a rental car if you want to see the whole island. Although there are bike trails, the roads are very narrow and I think it could be challenging to get to other parts of the island consistently by bike. We loved our stay and hope to return next summer!
Our check-in was delayed because the cleaning crew was delayed. The owner was notified and made an attempt to provide a gift card at the Black Dog Tavern. Communication at the Black Dog failed and no card was there (after two attempts to retrieve it). So the owner added an hour to our check out time.
Upon entering we discovered dirty, stained cushion pads on the dining room chairs. Many surfaces had to be wiped with Clorox wipes and we laundered some towels that had sat too long in a storage basket. Large area mats on the floors in the dining room and living room areas were old, fraying, and worn. Bed sheets were wrinkled and uninviting.
The house itself has great potential but could use some upgrades. It is situated close to downtown. The deck was lovely. Kitchen appliances worked although one of the air conditioners had to be turned off when using the microwave to avoid power outage. So we avoided using the microwave. The downstairs bathroom also lacked a functional electrical outlet.
Good location, quiet area, but close to vineyard haven shops and restaurants. Short drive to oak bluffs and beaches. Nice house, nothing too fancy, clean and simple. Decent size bedrooms, air conditioners in each, but didn't need to use them. Nice backyard with hammock and chairs for lounging, and a good size deck with table for eating outside. Keep an eye out for the neighborhood turkeys, fun to watch! Owners were extremely pleasant and accommodating, before and during our stay. We were able to use their beach chairs, towels, etc. They also provided us with a list of recommended activities, attractions and restaurants, which was a big help, since this was our first stay on the Vineyard. We had an enjoyable stay! Thank you!
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at this house. The owner was in frequently contact with us before, during and after our stay. She created detailed instructions from everything regarding traveling throughout MV to how use the appliances in the house. The house was located about 6 blocks from a bus line and a 20 minute walk to the downtown/ferry shuttle area. The house was spacious and inviting. The beds were comfortable. There were extra towels and linens in each room. The bathrooms were updated and the kitchen was okay. Everything was labeled and easy to find. The children really enjoyed the basket of games and puzzles on the days that we stayed in the house. There were also some convenient beach chairs that we took along to our trip to a local beach. We truly enjoyed the house and look forward to visiting next year.
We came to celebrate the wedding of my niece. We were 4 people. The house was old inside but spacious and 2 full bathrooms had been updated. The kitchen was well-supplied and the grounds were very relaxing. The rug should be replaced on the stairs and upper landing, the beds are hard and the pillows are very flat. Everyone had to find two - I had brought my own. The Internet connection worked well but the electricity went off a few times. The air conditioning was fantastic for sleeping! Could not have survived without it since it was very hot and humid.

Our three generations range in age from teen to 80+. We've loved our home in Vineyard Haven since 2002 and are pleased to extend hospitality to others when we're not able to be here.
We love spending summer days by the garden, reclining on steamer chairs, swinging in the hammock, or playing croquet. Hydrangeas, lilacs, daylilies, a magnificent rhododendron--something is always blooming throughout the summer. Mature trees provide shade and privacy all around the property. We love to relax with a book while the kids play with friends and neighbors, and we make frequent use of the beaches all around the island.
We love riding our bikes down to the Net Result for fresh salmon or swordfish to grill on the barbecue. Nothing better than dining under the stars on the deck, overlooking our perennial garden, and then a stroll town for fro-yo at Tisberry. We love the Vineyard in all seasons--we love midwinter walks on the beach, amid howling winds and silver light. And we happily welcome the Martha's Vineyard Museum, which relocated to our neighborhood from Edgartown in/around 2020.
