The apartment does not face the street, so it is very quiet for NYC, and the large private patio makes this place an absolute gem. Exciting Bushwick neighborhood near many world famous attractions! Our apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Top: - NĂ€he zur Metro-Station DeKalb Ave.
We are from SC and know nothing about the neighborhoods of NYC. I want to make sure others like us have more of an accurate idea of this part of town than we did. This listing and its glowing reviews gave me a very different impression of what we would find when we pulled up to this unit. It is not in a nice part of town. There were sketchy looking people milling all about, there were bars on all the lower story windows, and there was absolutely nowhere to park for blocks in any direction on the overly crowded streets. We were traveling with our four children and did not feel safe enough to get out of our car to go into the unit, so we never even saw the inside. We kept driving and stayed in a hotel instead. When I told the host about our concerns and that the unit didnât seem to match the description online, she told me I was âliterally describing the neighborhood of Bushwick.â Again, I admittedly lack knowledge of the neighborhoods in NYC, which is why I was having to trust reviews. Maybe this can help someone else in our position. This unit might be great for someone wanting to be in this area, but it was the one disappointment on our amazing American History road trip up the east coast. One other little thingâit was a bit odd that the address listed on VRBO was not the same as the actual address of the unit that the host gave me.
Overall, we enjoyed this property and do not hesitate to recommend. Access to the subway was simple- just down the street. There was a second station just a short walk away. There is a grocery store, a restaurant, and a hospital within walking distance. The apartmentâs beds were reasonably comfortable. There are 3 window ac units- one in each bedroom and one in the common area. Plates and bowls are sparse, and pans are dented. Although an automatic coffee maker is listed, one was not available. We ran the dishwasher a couple of times to ensure enough dishes for our stay. Two towels were provided for showering, so we had to locate a few more. The deck was nice with a fun view of the buildings behind. The bathroom was remodeled, but attention to mold buildup in the tub caulking and a slow sink drain should be addressed.
The flight was awesome. The location was perfect, a three minute walk from the DeKalb subway station. Only about 25 minutes to Manhattan. Is great, and we found a couple of great secondhand stores nearby. The market that is on the corner is fantastic. Everything was great.
Newly renovated apartment was clean and met our needs nicely. It was very convenient to the L subway line and quieter than expected. It felt somewhat basic or minimalist.
The owner of the apartment was very informative, he gave us all the information well in advance. Access to the apartment is perfectly solved and comfortable. The apartment is clean, tidy and very well equipped. Special thanks for the sandwich maker :) Nearby, you can find everything you need for a maximum of 2 streets, as well as public transport. We spent a perfect 4 nights to visit New York City. Thank you for your hospitality from Hungary!
Great place to get away with the family. Spacious for NYC and at a great price. Conveniently within a block to the subway and a grocery store for supplies (prices not too different from Seattle area). More PROS:Rooms were clean and spacious. Towels were soft.Shower had good pressure and hot waterComfortable bedsNice sized TV and space to relax at the end of the day Free WiFi We didn't use the terrace, because it was still too cold. But, we did take a peek out there and it looked amazing. Would love to go back and enjoy it on a summer day.The taqueria at the corner was sooo good. We would stay again just for those carne asada tacos. ConsNo welcome book so we had to msg to learn wifi password and check out instructions.Blow dryer didn't work, but informed the host so hopefully there will be a new one for the next guest.Upstairs lobby smelled like smoke, but the door blocker kept the smell out of the apartment. White curtains in the second bedroom let in a lot of light in the morning. My kids seemed to sleep through it fine, but it would've been hard for me if I was in that room. Nothing that would stop us from staying again. Definitely recommend. Would stay again 100%
We really enjoyed our time here. Had all the amenities you would expect and was put together nicely. The porch is great too. Highly recommend staying here
