If you love old houses you'll live this place. It is loaded with character. Spacious, comfortable and in a nice quiet neighborhood. The kitchen is supplied with everything you need to make your own meals, and the kitchen tools are high quality. There is a large garden with plenty of room for children to run around if you are bringing the family. A short walk to the small shops and coffee cart
We had a great weekend at this house for my partnerâs birthday weekend! The house was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. We loved all of the decor, plants, backyard, and kitchen supplies. We had never stayed somewhere that had a cuisinart for us to use! The cabin is within walking distance to a cute coffee shop and a beach. We would definitely come back.
A lovely old home with a giant fenced in yard, comfortable beds, and easy neighborhood strolls. (Side warning to those less familiar with Vashon, while there are Ubers, taxis, and buses on the island, they are not reliable on a Saturday evening!)
This is a wonderful property. Only here for a short stay so really just slept but plan to come back with friends and family to relive my Vashon days. Lived just south of Burton from1981 till 2002. Nice to take my same walk!!!! Thank you so much.
Lovely setting, beautiful blend of old and new. HUGE lot, HUGE house, HUGE kitchen. Nicely located for the south end of the island. We especially enjoyed the deer walking through the neighborhood. It's a beautiful work in progress. But not ADA friendly...which was not noted in the description.
Our recommendation for the next planned project would be hand rails on the stairs to enter/exit the house. There are 5 steps down and 3 steps up, just to get from the driveway to the house, and nothing to hang onto...and only one bedroom on the ground floor. The owner was wonderful to work with. It would have been a shame to miss this wonderful house, but we might have made a different choice for lodging to accommodate our octogenarians for whom the stairs were a true hardship.
Lisa, thanks so much for your hospitality!
The beds were really comfortable; nice mattresses, pillows, and bedding. The towels were nice, too (check the drawers in the bathrooms to find them).
We enjoyed the large backyard with chairs to enjoy the sun and a picnic table in the shade for outdoor dining.
The staircase is tall and narrow, and thereâs only one bed downstairs (all the rest are upstairs).
The main heating for the main level is the woodstove (there are a couple of space heaters). It got a bit chilly for us even in August, but we didnât want to light a fire if we were going to be gone most of the day.
The one main issue that weâd want to resolve before staying here again is that the houseâs electrical system had problems. The first night my phone didnât charge, but I tried a different outlet, and it charged successfully. There was no outlet in the upstairs bathroom, so we couldnât use a hairdryer or curling iron there. The most serious problem was that a couple of days into our stay, my elderly parents lost power to their whole bedroom (outlets and overhead light).
The owner did send someone same-day to try to get the electricity to work again in that room, and the person they sent was very kind; but the person didnât seem to know what to do. Ultimately, we solved the problem with an extension cord.
Again, we had a nice time! Thank you!
My friends and I were very comfortable in this lovely house! It had everything we needed inside, a beautiful yard, comfortable beds, and not very far from town! We already decided we'd like to come back again and stay longer.
