Love Touchstone

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is perfect for kids. The layout is also perfect for kids with all the bedrooms being together. The beds themselves are hard as bricks, but it's a minor issue. Clean and updated carpet and kitchen. Hot tub was functional and provides relief from the hard beds. Short walk to the lake out back. We will be back!

House was nice had been recently smoked in and it made the house very unpleasant to stay in. We stayed for 3 days and the odor dissipated some, but was always offensive and bothered those with asthma.Management never visited or seemed terribly concerned about the problem. They offered us a gallon of vinegar to put in bowls around the house.

Cozy retreat with hot tub luxury

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great experience at the Touchstone. A large kitchen and dining area gave us plenty of room to prepare food for six guests. The hot tub was only a few steps out the sliding door and the house was a warm retreat after a day on the slopes. It's location was prime, too! Only about a five-minute drive to the Timberline ticket office.

TV Problems

Need to improve dish tv channels to include sports. No football games were we able to watch during our stay. Need to increase dish network pkg to a higher level Also staple goods were at a bare minimum. The property management was excellent.

We loved everything - the several acres to wander with our dog, easy access to spruce island lake and the trail around it, everything. The kitchen was well stocked, the house was clean, and the hot tub worked great. The only minor issue was that the heat in the bedroom we slept in was really high even with two vents covered and the rest of the house chilly. But we'd happily come back anytime!

Nice but not walkable to ski lift

Positives: very nice house in a convenient location for skiing Timberline. Driveway plowed, walk ways shoveled. The house is accurately described in the listing.Negatives: master bath was not clean. Walls have visible soil that needs wiped off and there were multiple curly hairs! You have to physically pick up keys to check in. It is a short drive but not walkable to ski lift. Overall the positives outweigh the negatives and I would likely stay again for the reasonable price.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Touchstone on the lake is a great property for small families, especially with dogs. Plenty of trails and paths to explore nearby. New carpet was nice and I hope it is able to be maintained. There is a gas grill but we didn’t use it. Hot tub was perfect after a long day of hiking. I love that it is behind the gate, so less traffic, but close to entrance. Sets off road quite a bit so you do not hear much noise from other cars. Really enjoyed our stay.

Truly the "Best of Canaan"

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second time staying at Touchstone, which we love, and probably our 60th stay in Canaan Valley over the past 25 years. It's a cozy, comfortable well-appointed home located just beyond the gate and near Spruce Island Lake. The property description is accurate, the kitchen is well stocked and the hot tub is wonderful. We spent our time hunting, hiking in Dolly Sods & visiting Davis & Thomas for shopping and eating. We always enjoy Purple Fiddle & Siriannis for dinner, Hellbenders is great also.The Best of Canaan owners & staff never fail to go above and beyond to ensure your stay is wonderful. We visit Canaan Valley often, have made the mistake of using other rental companies a few times and now we know not to trust any other company with our hard-earned vacation money. Thank you, Best of Canaan. We hope to see you again real soon.

House was clean and spacious enough with comfortable furniture and the appointments are beautiful. Plenty of books and games. A nice short walk to the Lake and many views to take in. Small drawback was that there was no hairdryer, shampoos or spices for the kitchen. I would recommend this property for location, cleanliness and the beautiful scenery. We enjoyed our vacation very much.

We went during the Spring and spent a few wonderful days exploring the NWR, the Dolly Sods and some of the nearby towns. The house was perfect for our small family and dog. Having access to the parking lot at the top of the ridge made Dolly Sods access a breeze. The kitchen was great and fully stocked with everything needed. In the Spring you can sit in the hot tub and see the nearby pond. Garage access is a huge plus. While we lucked out on weather, the ability to load or unload your vehicle staying dry in the rain is tremendous. As is, we had a cold morning the day we left and could load our car without wearing jackets. Would highly recommend this rental and hope to return in the future.

Lovely spot

We loved our stay! The house was the perfect amount of space for us. We loved how quiet and peaceful the property is. So close to a lot of fun things to do in the area. A tiny issue was that the TV in the family room would often freeze up. We had to unplug it and restart it many times.

Lovely home for skiing!

Adorable home was perfect for our family of 6. So close to the slopes, easy to come home for lunch. Clean, fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds and a towel warmer in the master bath!! Would definitely stay here again!!
