Mountain House near the Appalachian Trail, Watauga Lake, Bristol, & Johnson City
Hilltop Hideaway is a cozy oasis offering gorgeous valley and mountain views! Grab your coffee and sit for a spell in one of the front porch rockers to listen to the sounds of the surrounding farm life. Unwind after a day on Watauga Lake (10 min), hiking the Appalachia Trail (5 min) or Skiing Beech/Sugar Mtn (35 min)! Enjoy the privacy of the country with easy access to Johnson City (20 min), Banner Elk (30 min), Bristol (30 min) or Elizabethton (10 min). We are up a âhollerâ as we say in East TN. After traveling up the gravel drive, porch steps will take you through the front door to an open living room and kitchen with the bedrooms/bathroom down the hallway. Although there is only one bathroom available, the master bedroom offers an additional vanity sink. You can expect to hear the sounds of nature - whether cows and donkeys occasionally during the day, or crickets and cicadas most evenings! There is a small fire pit that guests are welcome to use while practicing fire safety.
We had such a wonderful time! The house was perfect for our family's stay! My husband and I traveled with our four kids, ages 7, 4, 2, and 1 and made so many beautiful memories together, soaking up the porch swings, movie night hangs on the cozy couch, and looking at the cows next door were a few of our favorite features! Iâd definitely recommend this little spot!
We loved the property and the home. Great Mountain and farm views. There were so many supplies at the home already prepared for us. We have never stayed anywhere like that before, where so much was thought of for us!! The firepit was nice. My son loved watching the fire and roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. Julie was a wonderful host and always got back to me quickly. Thanks for a great stay and hope to come back again!
Excellent property, great communication with the owner and fantastic decor. The porch swing with the amazing view was a favorite as was the coffee bar!! Thank you!
Our family of 5 had a great stay. We didn't spend much time at the house since we spent most of our days visiting family nearby, but we felt at home when we returned each evening. We had one issue with the heat on the first night, but Julie was incredibly responsive and even followed up the next day. The home was decorated nicely, and we'd definitely consider staying again when we return to the area.
Our family had a nice stay! The home has everything that you could need! Our favorite part was the big front porch that offers great mountain views along with all the sounds of country living!
Also, Julie was great to work with and quick to respond to messages!
My spouse and I were in town for an unfortunate circumstance and Julie was nothing but supportive and accommodating throughout our entire travel process. The property was quiet and beautiful, absolutely perfect for healing and reflection. I would definitely recommend Julie and her property for a vacation.
Overall we had a good stay, it was a quiet and peaceful area with a very nice view of mountains from the front and side of the home. My husband and 3 kids stayed for a wk for a softball tournament in Johnson City. Pros-More space than hotelAffordable Quiet location with nice view Decorated and furnished very nice Comfortable bedsComplimentary Keurig cups Easy check-inGood communication from host 25 mins from Johnson City Pet friendly Cons-No washer/dryer, this wasnât listed as an amenity. But a week with kids and no laundry was rough. We luckily were able to do laundry at a friendâs rental. Driveway is gravel and it was somewhat difficult to turn into even with our Tahoe. A car may have a hard time getting in. Basement is locked from outside of house and inside house. Barricaded door inside because it was a safety concern for us with our kids. House smelled a bit musty/of moisture-host was very responsive when I presented the issue and advised cleaner may have forgotten to empty dehumidifier in basement. Host immediately had dehumidifier sent out to property, but we could only plug it in upstairs since basement was locked. We emptied it 2-3 times a day. Inside was tidy and clean for the most part, some things were missed like bathroom fan, shelves, under bed. We also had to purchase a toilet plunger at the store because there wasnât one. Landscaping is lacking, but not a huge deal.
I am a non-profit director working in affordable housing. I lived in the Tri-Cities area for 6 years until I got married and moved back to North Carolina. I absolutely adore Hampton - the views, the people and just being in nature. I try to make it back every chance I get, but I love being able to share this little oasis with others!
The home is up a âhollerâ as we say in East Tennessee. It is quiet (except for the crickets, cows and occasional donkey) and private, yet it it close to everything! The people are friendly and life is a little slower up in the hills, a great place to getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
What makes my home unique: Sounds of Farm Life! From almost anywhere on the property, there are amazing views of the mountains and valley. We are close to just about anything you could want to do outdoors
