Filled with colour and an abundance of comforts, Tanhouse is a cosy self-catering escape for families looking to hide from the rest of the world, leaving only to explore the delights of Rye and the surrounding sprawling countryside. Set in an area of outstanding beauty the coastline is a mere 15 minutes away - sand dunes and refreshing dips in the sea await. Back home, this unique picture perfect house exudes a wonderful free-spirited air which welcomes deep rest; whether sunbathing by the pool or thumbing a paperback from the library.
Inside
An eclectic mix of upcycled pieces and modern design, prodigious original art, and authenticity intertwine inside this homely self-catering country house, showcasing the ownersâ life as an interior designer and mountaineer. Reading enthusiasts will be in their element at Tanhouse with over 1,000 books lining the shelves in the library. The living spaces and garden room promises a chance to escape to faraway lands over freshly brewed coffee on quiet mornings. Come night, sink into the comfortable sofas in front of a roaring log fire whilst watching the horses play in the adjacent field or sit on the veranda and watch the sun set whilst enjoying your favourite tipple.
Outside
With walks straight from the door, Tanhouse is a haven for ramblers on their family holiday to East Sussex, saunter to the coast, or hike over the cliffs to Hastings. Back at home, meander through the garden to the heated pool, where the lionâs share of summer days are sure to be spent evolving from morning dips, to waterside picnics, to sundowners. A pond hidden in the orchard makes a relaxing base to contemplate life in between picking apples for crumbles, while an al fresco dining area ensure the whole family are catered for.

There are five bedrooms in total, one with super king-size bed and en suite bathroom walk-in shower and separate WC, along with four further bedrooms which share the family bathroom with freestanding stone bath and handheld shower attachement; three with king-size beds and one with a double bed. There is also a separate WC on the ground floor.

Tanhouseâs second bedroom includes a king size bed, views of the gardens along with access to the first floor family bathroom.
BEDROOM THREE FIRST FLOOR DOUBLE BEDROOM. The third bedroom includes a king size bed and views of the garden. This bedroom has use of the first floor family bathroom.
BEDROOM FOUR FIRST FLOOR DOUBLE BEDROOM Tanhouseâs fourth bedroom, known as the Cabin room, also on the first floor, includes a cosy double bed, with a bookcase filled with family favourites and shares the family bathroom with bedrooms two and three.
BEDROOM FIVE ATTIC FLOOR (low ceilings) DOUBLE BEDROOM Tanhouseâs fifth bedroom is in the attic - climb up some steep stairs to a gorgeous bedroom with a king size bed and views of the adjacent field. This bedroom also shares the family bathroom.
