Let time stand still at our charming cottage located on the picturesque Caney Fork River. The possibilities are endless here-- Slip into nature and enjoy the nearby state parks and hiking trails. Float the river by boat or kayak and enjoy the views while soaking up the sun. Cast a line and take the family fishing for Bass! Simply do nothing, relax by the fire or stay tucked away enjoying our interior spaces and amenities.



Newly built in 2024, this 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage has everything you need for the perfect getaway. We can't wait for you to see for yourself!

Great spot for a family getaway to explore the nearby state parks. Super clean and well equipped for a smaller place. We would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful place to stay

Not only was this VRBO one of the best-decorated homes we have ever stayed in, it was also by far the cleanest. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future.

This cottage is truly a hidden gem!It is the perfect cozy place to unwind and refresh. We loved the outdoor deck and high top table. The kitchen area is well stocked and very functional. We also liked the closeness to many beautiful waterfalls. The hosts are top notch!

Romantic Weekend Getaway

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our brief time away and we impressed with this property and all there is to do in Sparta and surrounding areas. Truly some great food/drink and beautiful nature all around. The house was well furnished and had everything we needed.

Fantastic getaway

Beautiful house in a beautiful location right on the water. Unfortunately it was a rainy wknd, but we had a wonderful stay and it was very relaxing and comfortable to be indoors. This place had everything we needed and was so pretty.

As I mentioned in the guest book this location is perfect if you have a hiking trip planned in the area.The house is placed perfectly to hit Rock Island State Park as well as Falls Creek Falls State Park.The amenities were great- kitchen was great and had all we needed, shower pressure was great, added bonus the TV had a Roku for evening entertainment. If I had to nitpick something, the beds were more firm than I like but I'd 10000% stay here again. Likely one of the cleanest rentals I've ever seen...not a single sign of any bugs, live or dead....which is rare in this kind of area.

This place was perfect! It was nicer than the pictures (And we had high expectations). Everything was amazing. The location is great, quality is amazing. We really loved the location and how relaxing everything was. Thank you! We want to come back in the fall/winter to use the fire pit!

Weekend get away

The hubby and I just wanted a quiet weekend getaway and this place definitely delivered. It was beautiful and cozy. It’s close to crossville and cookeville but far enough away at the same time. We enjoyed the fire pit and just looking at the river from the back deck. The only complaint is the bed was firm and my back likes a softer mattress. All in all this is a fantastic property!

Great cottage

The cottage was simply outstanding. Extremely clean and well apportioned. i was very happy with it. We had a hard time connecting through the VRBO app prior to my stay; however, once that issue of notifications was fixed, the response time from Livia was extremely fast. would love to stay there again.

Beautiful home and property but the online pictures were a bit deceiving. Online pics made property look more secluded than it was. Several houses next door.

Great getaway

Had a lovely couple days. The house had a great layout and decor for us. The kitchen was well stock for our small meals we prepared. Rained the few days we were there but there was a lovely outside area we definitely would take advantage of next time. The beds were a little too hard and uncomfortable for our liking but the connivence of everything else made it worth it. Also, enjoyed the selection of game and puzzles they had. The hosts were also very communicative and offered wonder recommendations when we asked. Definitely would book again

Country living

Our first impression when we first walked through the house was “wow”! The owners have done a fantastic job with decorating and outfitting the house. My wife loved sitting outside reading as I read on the comfortable couch. It is definitely in the country, which we love and enjoyed driving some of the backroads. It only took about 15 minutes to drive to town and we and some of the best pizza I have ever had. We will definitely stay in this house again if we are in the area.

Perfect getaway for two

Calfkiller cottage was just what we were looking for, a cozy retreat on the river. The home was very clean, had everything that you’d need including a fully stocked kitchen, a washer/dryer, and a grill on the deck overlooking the river, as well as an outdoor fire pit (although it was way too hot during our stay to use). The location was great between Sparta and Spencer and easy to find. The access to the river is a very steep grade down from the house, no stairs, so wasn’t able to enjoy the river close up. Overall, we loved our stay at Calfkiller cottage and will definitely book again when we are in the area.
