This is truly an amazing property! We loved the authentic atmosphere of this old sea captains house. Plenty of space for our family of 6 adults, the view and the waterfront are amazing, and having kayaks to explore the coast made it even better! I wish we could spend all summer there!
Beautiful property, with a envious view of the river and bay. The pictures are great, but watching the different weather systems come in, and the changing view hourly makes it almost worth the trip alone. Secluded, but not too far away from essentials.
A fantastic week. The house has lots of character and the perfect setting for a week on the coast of Maine.
The house was well supplied with cook and serving ware. Gorgeous views from every room
Peaceful and relaxing.
An 11 out of 10
A beautiful, old ,beach house with character . My vision of vacation is to do nothing with a great view and lobster . Mission accomplished. The rest of the family needed beach and kayaking . Also mission accomplished. I wish we could have stayed longer
Our group felt very relaxed and enjoyed our visit in Phippsburg. The patio overlooking the bay and the gardens was wonderful also. The house and bedrooms expectations, quilts beautiful only question is whether some of the vent openings between the various rooms could be blocked in the summer as sound traveled between spaces. The appliances and grill worked well and the kitchen was stocked with all dishes necessary for a group of six. We really enjoyed the ambience of the bar! Thank you.
Very charming, 100+ year old house, right on the water. We stayed with our two kids and they loved spending time in the two enclosed screen rooms. Owners were absolutely fantastic - the internet didn't work the first day and Jeff was there within 5 minutes to fix it.
The only downside is that one of the two bathrooms is in the kitchen, so if you are staying in the master bedroom, you have to walk downstairs and through the living room in order to access the bathroom.
We had the most wonderful week at Jeff's house! Could not get over the view and spent many, many hours just watching the tides change at Fort Popham. The proximity to Popham (and included Parks pass) meant we could pop over to the beach without a production. The kitchen was well stocked and the house immaculate when we checked in. Like all old houses, this had it's layout quirks with one bathroom on the main floor and another through a bedroom on the second floor. However, it didn't pose any problems with our group of four adults + toddler. We especially appreciated a youth chair in the dining room and the lack of breakable knickknacks with the toddler in tow. It was an amazing and relaxing week - we couldn't have asked for a more perfect trip!
Beautiful home with an incredible view. So relaxing. Perfect sleeping accommodations. Great location for hiking, and going to the beach. We enjoyed our stay.
This was a great property right on the water with beautiful views, plenty of space, fully stocked kitchen, kayaks, and fabulous enclosed porches on the 1st and 2nd floor. We enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs, breathing in the sea air and sipping coffee in the morning and wine at night while chatting or reading. So many fun things to do close by and the house is perfect for hanging out and thoroughly unwinding. Our family age range was 24-76 and everyone had a great time! I highly recommend this rental.
This is a classic Maine vacation home with beautiful, sweeping views of the water. Not a modern home, but lots of charm and character. We really enjoyed our stay, especially being so close to Popham Beach. Our only issue was the mosquitoes -- they were vicious, making it hard to be outside in the yard. The owner had lots of mosquito traps set up, so he was trying.
The house is set in a wonderful setting--the views never dissappointed! The Kennebec, opening to the ocean, a cool fort, boat traffic and wildlife--hawks, eagles and seals! Very private and quiet even though there are two other houses on the property. Owners were incredibly responsive and unobtrusive. House is full of old character and that is the funky part! We loved it because there were so many nooks and crannies to get privacy and spaces to work--6 adults in the house 4 of whom were working much of the time. Kitchen was
well equipped--food processor, salad spinners, great cast iron pans--this was important because we stayed for 2 weeks during Covid so not eating out! You have to walk a bit to get to the 'beachy' area to walk out on to the endless sandbar but its 5 minutes and worth it! Popham beach is a 2 minute drive and what a lovely surprise that is!!
Pretty much everything you could want for a Maine vacation
Classic old school Maine Yankee home, gorgeous ocean and Fort Popham view, great for 3 adult couples (our family). Beautiful views from the brick patio. Well equipped kitchen including giant lobster pot (handled six 2 1/2 pounders) and dining room for 6. Jeff was very helpful.
Owners being on property was more of a plus than I thought it would originally be since they were friendly and helpful, yet unobtrusive. Beds were comfortable and rooms were nice. View and setting was great. Bathrooms could use a little work. Water pressure was great, though.(and drinkable) So many shoreline properties have water problems, generally.
As a family we are rarely in the house but it was plenty big enough for when we were there. Good WIFI, cable, etc.
First time I'd seen 'mosquito eaters', (a propane tank that generates Carbon Dioxide and vacuums them up when they are attracted to it), (green-head flies, too). He had a number of them that he move around. They were much appreciated since there are usually a lot of mosquitos, in Maine, in general. This past year was better since they were in a drought scenario.
State Park Pass was included, a good thing since we have usually had to buy one.
Close to Popham beach and plenty of great restaurants, around, too.
