Host was super responsive and helpful house was generally clean the beds were just a bit uncomfy with squeaking and mattresses that def need replacing. Nice amount of dishes and some food in pantry. Dishwasher wasnât working but plenty of sink space and very spacious for guest to sleep.
Everything was perfect expect the shower in the lower level bathroom hose had a whole in it so water got everywhere when showering other than that it was perfect
Very nice house, just what we needed for our vacation. Be very aware that there are 3 floors and 3 bedrooms are on the top floor and kitchen is on the 2nd. Property manager replied quickly to messages. If we make it back to DC would stay here again
We had an amazing stay at this VRBO! The space was perfect for our group of 14, with plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. The property was impeccably clean, and the owner was incredibly responsive, making the entire experience stress-free. The location couldnât have been betterâjust a short distance from our performance at the Kennedy Center. Highly recommend this place for any large group!
Overall, the house was just OK. First the positive things:
1) I contacted the owner about how to open the door and he responded very quickly.
2) There is a new washer and dryer.
3) There are multiple smart TV's.
4) The home is large enough for a big family.
5) The house was of comfortable temperature once it was set.
Some things I would hope were better:
1) I would have liked to have some information about how to turn on the heat. There is a thermostat but there are also some separate heater units near the floor.
2) The biggest issue we had was with the general cleanliness of the home. It needs a good cleaning!
3) There was a used razor in the downstairs bathroom and the faucet leaked when you pull the handle.
4) The sheets, blankets and towels were not located in the same place (some were in a closet and some in the dryer). The blankets seemed well worn and probably should be replaced.
5) The dishes were in the strainer and the dishwasher as well as a disorganized pantry.
6) The lights to the outside decks didn't work.
7) The refrigerator and the stove needs to be cleaned.
We only used the house to sleep and shower so it met the need we had but I was expecting a little nicer.
The home for our needs since we were spending our days exploring DC. Neighbors seemed friendly.
I felt like the kitchen could use a deep clean and some organizing. There were crumbs in the drawers so I felt like I needed to wash anything before using it. Other than that everything was totally fine. Loved the newer shower that was attached to the bedroom upstairs! Thank you for letting us use your home for the week.
Had a great week visiting DC from Texas and this house made it possible. Anything perceived as negative in this review, I'm sure, has already been addressed as I have not communicated with the owner first. It was all ready for us and I had no need to pester the owner while we were there.
A common problem I see in host homes is that there are too many pots/pans etc which makes it difficult to keep them all clean and organized. I'm a freak in this regard due to my occupation, so my standard is likely different than most. But in all that I couldn't find a coffee pot.
The mirror needs to be mounted in the downstairs bathroom. Water pressure and temperature were great throughout the home. Lots of towels available. Lots of them which was great for the 8 of us. Laundry machines worked great.
We're from rural Texas and I was nervous about security in DC but my wife/fam said they never once felt threatened or uneasy. There are more homeless in DC than here and the local (super easy to access) drug store/grocery store have stuff locked up and extra security guards which was strange to us. Just a cultural difference is all. This home is about 200 feet from a gigantic police station and the people were all friendly that we talked to.
We used the easy to access and park "Congress Heights" subway stop daily for all our touring. We also visited the Frederic Douglass home which is maybe a 5 minute drive from this home.
Thanks to the host, we had a great trip. I definitely recommend.
We went there to meet up our family we haven't seen in years...the communication with the owner was great. The house have everything you need, the neighborhood was quite. The only thing was the mattresses (not all rooms has comfortable mattress. We would stay again.
