Our family of 6 had plenty of room in this lovely VRBO located centrally to many of the landmarks in DC. The VRBO was clean and had all the modern conveniences needed for a perfect stay. Would gladly stay here again if given the chance.
We stayed 5 nights in this property. It was spotless. Very comfortable for our group of 6. Great to have such nice gathering space on the ground floor. The property manager was responsive and provided extra coffee mugs upon request. The area at night is not ideal for walking alone. But we found that coming and going by uber in the evening, worked fine.
Great to have 3 bathrooms! Rooms were spacious. Living space on main level had plenty of seating. Kitchen was pretty well equipped what it didnât have was brought to us after requested which was a plus. Location of home was OK but a few blocks over was a not as desirable.
This property was accurately portrayed! It was very clean and spacious. I also loved the layout. Bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs. There is one bathroom/bedroom in the basement.
The property is not too far from Union Street Station (which I walked to/from). A very short car ride to all the famous sites in DC.
My siblings and I had an awesome time at this home away from home! I would recommend this place to anyone!
We had fun. Need to fix some things toilet paper holder in downstairs bathroom not secure and railings going down to same need to be better secured. Nice place enjoyed our time
We may have lost a set of keys could you call me if they are found. 978-382-1982
Hi all! This property is absolutely beautiful! It was so easy to get around and fairly close to a lot of things. With it being thanksgiving in DC the house stayed very warm while we were there. I absolutely love the fact that the check out instructions didn't require to start a load of laundry or strip the bed or take out trash. Obviously we didn't leave a mess but it's nice to know the cleaning fees are being used to the correct degree. I appreciate the quick communication we had with the owner and property manager as we had some personal issues happen right before our trip! My family and I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this location for a stay.
On one of the HOTTEST summer days I've experienced in a long time (and I'm from Atlanta), I can't express how refreshing it was to walk into this home with the air conditioning on full blast! I've been to other homes that prefer to wait until you get there and it takes quite some time to cool it off. In addition to the good air, here are my top 3 reasons I would stay here again:
1. Location, location, location. The house is a bit in the cut, so not directly in the middle of downtown. Easy access for doordash and to get to restaurants via uber or lyft.
2. The house itself-roomy and enough space for my family of 5. I liked the 3 levels and that we could spread out.
3. The devil is in the details: the little touches meant alot. The extra blankets, coffee in the cupboard, laundry detergent, etc made a huge difference.
Opportunities:
1. the parking was a little sketchy and we had to be careful to park where we wouldn't get tickets. They did provide a parking pass which helped.
2. Although there were bathrooms at the top level and in the basement, there was not one on the main level. We had to either go upstairs or to the basement to go to the restroom.
3. There was a bit of a musty odor in the basement, (just a bit), but was not overwhelming. I am sensitive to smell so the average person wouldn't notice.
I enjoyed our stay here and would stay again at this home!
Our family was able to stay at this property and it was in a pretty good location. We were able to get to most tourist destinations fairly quickly.
The property had most of what we needed! We made our own dinners most days and had what we needed. Would stay again with a large party.
About the Owner I moved to Washington DC in 1980 to save the world. Unfortunately, the world could still use quite a bit of help! I, however, couldn't get enough of DC and never left. I met my husband in 1981 and we have lived in the city ever since. We fell in love with Capitol Hill and raised our three kids here. We love the area and want to share it with others.
About the Manager Alec has decades of experience as a management consultant, which involved way too much travel and hospitality experience (approximately 200 flights per year.) In 2003 he started renting out the family's second home on an online platform, a brand new business model at the time. Over the years that activity grew into a future retirement plan with the addition of more properties, all of which are located on Capitol Hill and must pass a simple test... Would they be a place Alec and his family would enjoy staying themselves?
Washington DC is a great place to spend time. The Capitol Hill neighborhood is right in the middle of the city, and would have turned into big office buildings many years ago were it not a historic conservation area. Instead, despite its central location it's a residential neighborhood of 19th century homes. It is the neighborhood where most of our elected officials live, as it is home to the Capitol.
The house has been updated with a more open layout, beautiful new furniture, four flat screen TVs, 3 clean modern bathrooms, and a lovely family-ready backyard. We are in quiet, entirely residential Capitol Hill, but only two blocks from bustling H Street. You can catch a free street trolley on H Street that will take you to Union Station, in the very heard of DC, within minutes. Union Station is where virtually every city tour departs from, in addition to travel into and out of the city.
