About Vacation By The Sea

York, Maine – Welcome to Vacation By The Sea! This beautiful four-bedroom, two-bath home located in family friendly York, Maine is ideal for large families looking for the perfect summer getaway.

The open concept living space has a large living room with an additional private living area that can be used as an extra television or bedroom with its full-size sleeper sofa. The huge kitchen/dining area has seating for twelve guests. The sliding glass doors off of the dining room lead to a large deck, big enough to play corn hole on along with plenty of outdoor seating and gas grill for all of your BBQ needs! The big back yard is perfect for the kids to run around and play games.

On the lower finished level, you will find another living room with television and pool table for nights in. From this lower level out the back door is the large yard and clean, private outdoor shower with hot + cold water to wash off the sand from your day at the beach.

Upstairs, the second story has four big bedrooms. There are two queen rooms and two twin rooms. The twins can be easily converted to a King upon request. There are A/C window units to keep you cool on those hot summer days.

The house is stocked for all your vacation needs. The kitchen is supplied with everything you'll need from blueberry pancakes for breakfast to a traditional New England Lobster Bake. Quality linens and towels are included in your stay along with complimentary toiletries and snacks to get you started.

The laundry room has one washing machine and two dryers for all of your beach towels!

The location of this large home is convenient for walking either to Short Sands which has its Sandy Beach and York's Wild Kingdom along with Bowl-A-Rama, restaurants and cute shops! In the other direction is Long Sands, a sandy 1.5-mile-long beach and The Nubble Lighthouse.

Parking is available for five cars (almost unheard of in beach towns)!

There is much to see and do from this location. From a day at the beach to exploring the quaint New England towns from Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Portland, Maine! The options for your Maine Beach Vacation are endless; lobster boat or lighthouse tours, sailing, scuba diving off the Nubble, outlet shopping in Kittery or walking around Ogunquit and lunching in one of the many restaurants.

Kennebunkport is a classic quaint port town with outstanding water views from the town square that reminds one of days passed. Portland is an exciting city filled with museums, restaurants, microbreweries, shopping and tours!

Choosing this house as your home base is a great choice to create lasting memories of Maine!

We found the perfect place!

This home and property was well-equipped with everything you need for a stress free stay. Convenient to beaches, restaurants, trails and coastal discoveries, it is clean and comfortable. Toys for the littles was an added bonus; we would easily plan another stay right here for a wonderful Southern Maine adventure!

A great family home

We stayed at this gem for our daughter’s graduation from UNH. The house is perfect for larger groups. It was well equipped. It was close to the beach and plenty to do in the area.

Annual Maine trip

Every year, my twin sister and best friend and I rent a place for us and our kids (somewhere in Maine), so ten total. This house was a great location and size for all of us! We loved it!

Our stay

The house was beautiful, however, we could not get the TV downstairs in the basement area to work. With 8 adults in the house it would have been more convenient so all could watch TV. There is very little seating in the living room area so only a few could watch at the same time. Also, the back yard was not mowed and had sticks and twigs everywhere. We had to contact the owners so we could play cornhole out there. They did send their "landscapers" to mow and they did show up later the next day. Other than those issues we had a wonderful time and all of us left very happy!

Gals long weekend!

We love the Maine coastline and being with our girl friends. So, what better way to bring it together with a fun weekend in York. We chose Daniele’s place based on size and proximity. It was everything we hoped for; layout, ambiance, cleanliness, and warm n cozy. We utilized all the sleeping space and every room was comfortable and accommodating. Having 2 full bathrooms for 6 women proved to be time saving and smart. We had no intentions on cooking meals but everything you needed was there. In the end we made apple crisp and needed cinnamon…voila! Every step was spelled out with clear cut instructions and we felt very much at home. Thank you for sharing your space with us. As a bonus we had beautiful fall weather and attended Harvestfest. Perhaps next year we will be back….maybe in late September.

Love

This is our second year staying here and we had an amazing time. They made some upgrades which we loved! It is in an amazing spot to access both beaches, the center, and nubble. Also Salt & Shine are amazing at responding, even with the smallest questions. We are excited to go back next year.

Family Wedding

Our stay was great. Plenty of room for all of us and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was nice and quiet, even got to see some wildlife! I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to be close to everything York has to offer.

The property was very clean and communication with the property manager was excellent. We had a small issue with a shower handle and that was fixed within a few hrs. We enjoyed our stay.

Spacious, comfortable home—highly recommend!

This was the perfect home for our family’s vacation. It was well equipped with everything we needed. It was spacious and comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet. The pool table was a plus and made the evenings, and our one rainy day, very fun. I would definitely rent this property again in the future!

Great vacation home near Nubble Lighthouse

Great 4 bedroom, 2 bath house was perfect for our family. House was very clean and well stocked in the kitchen. Beds were comfortable and all bedrooms had ac. The outdoor shower is perfect after the beach! Plenty of room inside and great deck with plenty of seats. Parking for 5 is also a bonus. We had a spectacular week and hope to return next year.

Walking Distance to Lighthouse.

Close to Nubble Lighthouse

House was great. There are three levels. All bedrooms are on top level. Plenty of extra rooms if needed for more space. Only thing I could see that needs to be updated would be a couple of the tv's. Rental company was great to work with. Walking distance to Nubble Lighthouse. Would definitely stay here again.

If you care about sleep and comfort this is not the house for you

First let me start by saying Salt and Shine are wonderful, we know they did all they could, but this house needs more than just a great property manager, it needs some major updating. The layout of the house is perfect for large families, plenty of open space, great location, newer windows and updated decks. Unfortunately, the owner hasn’t put a dime into the necessities that could made this house great. The mattresses and couches are in my guess from the 1990’s. Old, worn out and painfully uncomfortable. We are not a high maintenance family. We know that nothing compares to your own bed and furniture, but this was ridiculous. The stove and dishwasher are original to the house that was built in 1988. The dishwasher broke prior to our arrival on Saturday and was not replaced until Thursday night, the day before we were leaving. If I were renting my house, I would have had the foresight to realize that the appliances are on borrowed time and replace before my rental season. My guess is they are not planning on replacing the original stove until that also breaks. Unless this house is updated and specifically mentions, new mattresses/couches purchased in 2020 and updated appliances I would seriously look elsewhere.

Great property for a girls weekend.

Great property for a girls weekend. Very comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. Well equipped kitchen with everything needed to create a wonderful family style dinner. Walking distance to the Nubble as well as the beach. Would recommend this location. Thanks again for everything.

Great York Beach House Rental

This house was a wonderful rental! It was very roomy, clean and comfortable! It was convenient to Long & Short Sands Beach. The Rental People were very accommodating with any questions or concerns. I would definitely recommend this property.

Absolutely love this house in York Beach!!

The home is beautiful & comes equipped with all you need for a wonderful vacation. It is very clean, spacious & able to easily accommodate two families. The property manager is so pleasant & helpful. We absolutely loved our stay here & would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood near the beach.

Very spacious. Loved the first floor walk in. Owner had left all sorts of small essentials (beach chairs, cooler, working grill, tons of York area info). Photos were 100% accurate. .5 Walk to Nubble and Dunn's. 1M to Long Sands. Salt and Shine property manager is outstanding. One of my best vacation experiences yet.

Loved it!

The Salt & Shine team were incredibly welcoming. Sam made sure that we got in okay and gave us a tour of the property so that we felt at home and knew where everything was. Danièle was quick to respond to the one fluke that we had and quickly made sure that it was taken care of. The property was clean and spacious within a quick walk to the beach and playground for our toddler. It was everything it was advertised to be. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book with Salt & Shine in the future. In fact, my aunts took down the information to share with their friends and family!
