What did we like about the property? Not a thing. The worse property we have ever rented in Europe, Canada and USA.
The location was storage area, they added beds, bathrooms and a kitchen and it's still a storage area.
Shane on Experia for listing this property. We will never rent properties from Expedia again.
We had a great vacation. The place was very clean and we enjoyed staying there. It was close to stores and a 5 min or so drive to the beach. The only negative is there are no ceilings. You can hear everything going on. But it was a perfect week.
I will say that this place really is quite unconventional, but if you can get past some of the unconventional things youâll enjoy your stay. Upon entering the place you can tell it seems to be an old warehouse or parking garage that was renovated to be a living space. There is cement flooring and the ceilings are non existent (as you see in the photos). Despite this, the place is clean, there is running hot water, and the beds are very comfortable. It is also an ideal location. If you are not staying in the central San Diego area, Imperial Beach is the next best place to be and this home is in a great place. A 6 minute drive to the beach straight down the road itâs on, surrounded by convenience stores and food options. If I could provide any feedback I would say to please put rugs in this place, the cement is cold to walk on. If you can find a way to make the walls and ceiling closed it would be a huge improvement. The open ceiling concept leaves no room for privacy, even in the bathroom. And considering the bathroom is next to the kitchen and eating area, smelling someone in the bathroom while eating is not appealing. Overall, if itâs for a short weekend I think anyone can make this place work for them (bring house shoes), but it does take some getting used to. Oh, also be prepared for European style showers. There is no door to close you in completely. Thereâs just a half panel of glass and the back half of the shower is open.
I enjoy comfort and convenience when I vacation. This was our very first Vrbo experience. We usually stay in hotels when traveling. I think I am a hotel person, not a Vrbo person.
The host was wonderful! She is very quick to respond when you message her. This particular property I think just wasnât for us. It has a cement floor. Thatâs probably great in the hot summer, but we stayed in the winter. I was cold the whole time. There is no heat, only A/C. Maybe that is typical of Southern California, I donât know. The layout is awkward. There really is no place to do anything as a family- eat, play a game, etc. itâs great that there are two bathrooms. We loved that. The beds have more of a memory foam mattress topper rather than an actual mattress on them. Five nights on that bed hurt my back!
There is NO PRIVACY! Because the walls do not go to the ceiling you can hear everything going on in every room, including the bathroom. I suggest to the host to at least install a false ceiling. And add some area rugs. I think these two things would make a world of difference.
Property is in a decent location, about 20-30 minutes to all the attractions we wanted to visit. Plus there is food and other services nearby. I wasnât sure about the neighborhood at first, not being from the area. But I did not feel unsafe walking to the pizza place across the street.
Itâs a great place for the right people.
