EXTRA CLEANING PROTOCOLS : we are taking extra precautions to keep our guests safe and making every effort to ensure a worry-free stay. We offer self-check in, and have instituted extra cleaning protocols with extra cleaning and disinfecting on high-touch surfaces.
When renting this home, you have access to the main house which includes a large eat in kitchen, living room with fireplace, sitting room with pellet stove, three (3) bedrooms, one full bath and one 3/4 bath, a small semiprivate area for additional sleeping or napping. You will have the property to yourself.
This beautiful large home, built in the 1800s has many modern amenities and retains much of its original charm and character. It is located on a picturesque Chocorua dam and just 20 minutes from outlet shopping; 2 minutes from Chocorua Lake, ideal for kayaking, canoeing and swimming as well as being less than 20 miles from several ski resorts for winter sports like skiing, tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and even ice skating. For the hikers, trailheads abound. We are roughly 16 minutes from the entry to the beautiful winding Kancamagus Highway where you can pull over and take advantage of the many swimming holes along the way. The property is within 10 miles of a winery, brewery, Meadery and distillery. It is also a short distance from several local wedding venues making it ideal for guests attending weekend weddings.
On the first floor is a large eat-in kitchen equipped with a full-size fridge, electric stove, microwave and many other convenient features. Windows overlook the pond which feeds the dam. The kitchen does not have a dishwasher. There is a window unit air conditioner in the kitchen to cool off the first floor during the summer months. The living room has a fireplace for a cozy evening after your winter activities and a large screen TV with basic cable and access to other services through an Apple TV Box. The first floor has a 3/4 bathroom equipped with standup shower and a stacked washer/ dryer for your use. There is also a small sitting nook with a daybed that can be made semiprivate with a three-panel privacy screen adding an additional sleeping area if desired or perhaps just a place to sneak away for a midafternoon nap.
The second floor has three bedrooms, all with queen size beds, blackout curtains for sleeping in, window fans, with two bedrooms also having ceiling fans, auto dimmable sound machine alarm clocks with a night light and digital display, a dresser and/or closet This home sleeps 6 people.
The upstairs bathroom is located directly off the primary bedroom and is a full bathroom with tub/shower. Access to this bathroom is only through the primary bedroom.
The upstairs hall contains a small reading nook and a comfy chair perfect for sinking into and relaxing with your favorite book. We also provide books, puzzles, board games and other rainy day or family fun activities for when you just want to hang out. In good weather enjoy a game of cornhole or even badminton in the side a yard.
In the winter, the home is heated with oil and an easy load pellet stove.
Other features include a lovely sitting porch, a deck located off the kitchen with table, chairs, additional small seating area and a gas grill to enjoy a summertime cookout or just hanging out. There is also fire pit with camp chairs down by the dam area.
Because of our location, chances are you will experience some wildlife: a summertime bull frog, a gaggle of geese in the yard and turtles in the driveway. People often fish off the dam, so you are welcome to bring your fishing rod. (For fishing license and information go to www.wildlife.state.nh.us)
