This property was a major disappointment. The photos are heavily edited and donât reflect the realityâshaky toilets, torn blinds, uncomfortable beds, and a serious bug problem made the stay unpleasant. The stairs are steep and unsafe, and the home is hard to access. The water behind the house is stagnant and only adds to the mosquito issue. Not worth the high priceâwould not recommend.
We should have listened to the other reviews on this place, but unfortunately there wasn't much in the area to choose from. From the moment we walked in it smelled terrible, almost like a skunk smell. Obviously it's right on the Fox River so there's going to be bugs but a lot of the windows especially upstairs are not sealed right and in one of the bedrooms there were a ton of mosquitoes and other bugs all over the ceiling. Thankfully we found some ant spray in a random cabinet and were able to kill most of them with that but then had to wait a while until we could go back into the bedroom and go to bed. I felt like something was biting me all night long. There were bugs crawling along the ceiling that I had to smack with my shoe, there were ants crawling all over the kitchen counters and we had to put all of our food in the refrigerator so that they wouldn't get into it. Also, when we tried to take showers the shower head wasn't working well and most of the water was coming out of the bathtub faucet. All of us had to wash our hair in the bathtub faucet. There weren't enough towels for all of us so we had to borrow towels from family members that we were visiting. It was not a pleasant experience for two nights. My kids went to bed crying each night because there was a giant spider in their bedroom and ants. I could go on and on unfortunately. The only positive is the air conditioning worked.
