Sunny, fully furnished flat, hardwood floors, tiled kitchen and bathroom, brand-new plush carpet in the large bedroom. Fiber-optic internet, brand new kitchen appliances, good quality linens, blankets and towels. A 10-minute walk to the Gourmet Ghetto, home of the famous Chez Panisse restaurant, as well as many other restaurants and a weekly farmers market. Two blocks above the Berkeley Rose Garden. Two blocks below Live Oak Park. UC Berkeley is just a few blocks away, a 10â15-minute walk.
I booked a stay because I needed to drop off my daughter at the Berkeley campus. The place is at a walking distance for many things. Place is new, comfortable and perfect
The apartment is wonderful and airy, despite being a basement apartment. The hosts are very responsive, consulted with us about the quiet hours, and were kind enough to lend us their iron and ironing board. The apartment would not work for very tall folks.
The apartment was clean, well stocked and exceeded expectations. The neighborhood was very safe and peaceful and a bus to the BART station with easy access to SF was only a 2 min walk. The property owners were polite and easy to work with.
This is a basement apartment, but it is the best basement apartment Iâve ever stayed in. Our host, Abro, was communicative and accomodating. The apartment has lots of room, the kitchen is well set up for cooking if you choose, but you are in walking distance from the gourmet ghetto of Berkeley, with all the great places to dine and shop.
I will visit Berkeley again, and I will try to book this apartment again when I do.
Place was new and clean but owners upstairs stay up late and walk around like elephants! Thought I could get a godd nights sleep but didn't happen until midnight when they decided to turn off tv and retire! They were up bright and early the next morning.
Nicely remodeled basement apartment. Overall this apartment was nicely appointed, and had the essentials for a comfortable stay, but we did have some issues with the accommodations that surprised us. There are several steps up and down into different rooms in the rental, and ceiling height differences that made it a challenge for my 6â4â husband to avoid hitting his head, which touched the ceiling in the shower!! We both stubbed our toes several times on the awkward steps in the bathroom and from the bedroom to the hall. Only street parking was available, so we had to park wherever we could find a spot, not always easy in the Berkeley hills. The long driveway to the back of the property, where the entrance to this unit is located, was blocked by the owners vehicle, making checking in and out with all our bags very difficult - and it was raining!! There was also quite a bit of noise from upstairs while we were there, mostly the sound of heavy footsteps, but also what sounded like a vacuum being run on wood floors early in the morning one day!! The check out instructions included a few chores including stripping the sheets off the bed, and taking out the trash and recycling and compost, which was unexpected given that we payed a cleaning fee!! We were surprised that the owners would even want us to see the condition of the mattress and pillows - they need to be replaced ASAP!! I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I feel like some of these issues really need to be addressed!!
