When you get in to this apt/loft you will be amazed by the comfort and cozy set up. This unit is located downtown Ipswich on the third floor with a beautiful view where you can enjoy sunsets and have a place to hang out. NOT RECOMMENDED for elderly people because of the stairs. there are three sets of stairs, also if you are traveling with young children or toddlers need to be aware of the height and the whereabouts.
We were in Ipswich for a family reunion and needed two bedrooms. Apartment #3 was great as one of the bedrooms has a door to the outside roof deck. This made it easy for me to come in late and not wake anyone. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again.
The listing is accurate, stairs are steep and the property is certainly a classic. No issues, perfect for the wife and I and walkable to a cute downtown. Had dinner at the brewery and brunch at Heart and Soul, both were great.
Very clean apt. Parking was great, right on premise. Great location, walking distance to downtown Ipswich, which is very historical & nice town with a few places to eat, have drinks. We enjoyed the 5 Corners Cafe for breakfast. Had dinner at The Brown Dog, staff at both places were very friendly and food was very good! Where we stayed was everything the owner said it was. Third fl apartment. Nice deck on the roof. Kitchen was perfect with all the ameneties. There were two very comfortable and clean bedrooms, one bedroom has sloped ceilings so you have to pay attention and so you don't hit your head. The living room was comfortable with a large smart tv. The only thing I will warn you about are the to accesses to the apt. Inside steps are very steep in a tight hall. The other access is a narrow and steep spiral staircase. But these things are mentioned clearly by the owner so, no surprises. We had no issues with this. Owner was very friendly and responsive. I recommemd this place!!
We really enjoyed our stay in this little rooftop apartment. We are a family of two middle-aged adults, a tween, and a teen. As mentioned in the descriptions and other reviews, the stairs are a bit steep, but we managed them quite well with our carryons, and actually preferred the outdoor spiral stairs. This apartment is small, clean, and perfectly serviceable. It's not a luxury space, but we weren't looking for that, and we were very happy with our experience. We were there during a particularly hot few days (at one point, my husband's phone said it was 104 degrees out--oof!), but the larger AC unit running in the living room plus the one bedroom unit kept the apartment at a very comfortable temperature. Note that if you do need to close bedroom doors to sleep (we have light sleepers as well as loud snorers, so this was necessary), the one bedroom without an AC can get a bit warm. However, there's a very nice pedestal fan that kept us generally comfortable through the night. And if you are lucky enough to be able to keep that bedroom door open, the main AC unit will keep you comfy. ;)We had one issue crop up during our stay, and the owner/manager was very responsive to texts and the issue was quite quickly resolved. We very much appreciated his professionalism and quick replies.Overall, a comfortable, clean place with some fun quirks and lots of character (slanted roofs! the spiral staircase!). If we are ever back in the area, we would be happy to stay here again.
Very clean and convenient location. Comfortable for me and my husband. It was well stocked. Easy to get to and no problems. The stairs were a little steeper than expected but I was able to get up them. Thank you for the great stay!
Overall, our stay was fine. Great location and the unit was clean. Host was very responsive. Although we knew we were on the 3rd floor, the stairs were steep and narrow. One of the bedrooms has a slant in the ceiling and 1 of the guests hit her head pretty hard and has a slight concussion. This unit would not be recommended for elderly guests.
Really enjoyed our stay in Ipswich! The apartment was perfect, from the well appointed kitchen to the super comfortable bed! The unit does have steep stairs to get into the apartment if mobility is an issue this is not the place for you.
The rental is clean and comfortable and checked all the boxes for our stay in Ipswich. Very centrally located and it was a pleasure dealing with the host. I would recommend it for it's location and comfort. The stairs were challenging since it's an older house but not a problem. Many thanks to the host.
My granddaughter, her husband and I spent 6 days here and we loved it. We loved the character of this little apartment and especially enjoyed the deck/ patio off one of the bedrooms (the one I stayed in). Warning though: it is on the top floor with access by a spiral staircase outside or a narrow wood staircase inside. I am 72 so it was a bit of a challenge but I knew about it before hand. It was all good and we definitely recommend it for your stay.
I had a couple questions and the owners responded almost immediately.
This was a great location. Easy walk into town to eat or shop, but right on a main route that made reaching my stepson's place easy. Extra tall people might have difficulty with low rafters in this "treetop" apartment; but if you have no problem with a tall staircase, it will be a pleasure.
Super cute place in a cozy little town. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen is fully stocked and they even have tea and coffee available. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the extra comforters and a variety of pillows to chose from. The statues are fun to walk up, but as the listing states, probably not good for the elderly or young children. We enjoyed the big TV and felt safe. The hosts communicated well, too!
We had a wonderful time staying at this apartment. I will say the pictures and description are absolutely accurate, so expect what you see. For us it was perfect.I'm 6' tall as is my oldest son and there was lots of crouching and ducking, but for a few days it was just fine. The stairs were good exercise for us with all the great food we were eating.
The place was super clean, and the location central to everything we wanted to do in Gloucester and in Newburyport.
The hosts were great and responded to all our questions quickly and made it easy to rent from them. We would absolutely stay again! Thank you!
Parking was confusing and could use clearer signage. Clean towels were not in the bathroom so we had to search the rental to find them in a bedroom we did not intend to enter/use. The fire alarms are sensitive; after a short shower that produced no condensation on the mirror, all three fire alarms went off multiple times. This occured at approximately 11:30PM and could not be silenced.
We are frequent travelers to the New England area to see friends and family, and wanted to stay somewhere with a bit more character than just another hotel. This apartment was perfect! Tons of character but with many updates. Very clean, even for older home standards! Many thoughtful considerations for guests including stocked kitchen, coffee/tea, spices, range of viewing options on huge TV. The apartment was nicely updated with items that complemented the home well. Our son (8) was super excited to have his own room with all of the angles of the roofline (we were on the 3rd floor) and loved going down the 3 story spiral staircase! He said he felt like he was in a tree house. Very cute and well maintained rooftop deck with patio table, chairs and paitio lights. We wouldve enjoyed the deck.more, but the weather didn't cooperate. When we come back to the area next time we will definitely see if this place is available! Thanks again!
My adult daughter and I spent two comfortable, happy nights in this two-bedroom apartment. It had two roomy bedrooms with queen beds, a small but complete kitchen, and a relaxing living area with a large TV and a dining table. Getting upstairs requires climbing one of two steep, winding, narrow circular stairways, but we were warned ahead of time, and that worked out fine. There's no elevator, and carrying large suitcases upstairs would be challenging. We were there during a hot and humid season, but the apartment has two air conditioners and a fan which helped a lot. The main AC in the living room area is quite loud, but effective. One bedroom has a steeply angled ceiling just inside the doorway, so that room's wouldn't be ideal for a tall person, but it worked fine for us. There's no tub but there's a full-size shower. Communication with the host was friendly and helpful. We'd happily stay there again.
It is a quaint little attic apartment in a 100 year old home. It is a 10-15 min walk to the train station which will take you many places. There are many restaurants just up the street with great food. There is a laundromat about one block up the street which makes it easy to wash clothes and get them back to the house. It served its purpose of allowing a place to stay with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. Wanderson was great when we messaged him about some stuff and came the same day to fix it. It was a bit warm but the portable and window unit ACs do help. Both stairs are spiral, steep, narrow, and difficult to navigate with luggage unless you are very strong. The kitchen is small but serviceable. Shampoo, body wash, conditioner, and towels are provided as well as coffee, tea, a few spices, and sugar/sweetener. I am in my 40s and my mother is in her 60s and we were having some trouble with the stairs by the end of the day when we were tired. Make sure the shorter person stays in the room with the AC unit as the gabled roof creates an interesting ceiling (see photos), I may have hit my head more than a few times when not paying attention, and Iâm only 5ft 7in. The second bedroom has a door out onto a nice little balcony and access to the second spiral staircase that is outdoors. Overall while we probably wouldnât choose to stay there again, it isnât the fault of the apartment or host, it is due to our own health and limitations.
Three of us stayed here for a girls trip and found the property to be very clean and the neighborhood to be very safe. We walked around and explored quite a bit and had a great time. The property was as described and was reasonably priced. Had everything we needed and was in a convenient location.
This unit was the perfect location for everything to see in Ipswich! It was so cute, I loved being able to walk to all of the things I wanted to see, and relax on the little patio that was off of my room. Thank you for renting your place to us!
