Welcome to The Fire Escape, your home away from home in Port Aransas! This lovely home is located in the exclusive Village Walk neighborhood and allows you to enjoy all that Port A has to offer while staying in a relaxing environment. You're only steps away from your choice of two shared pools with landscaped breezeways along the way.

The Fire Escape is a clean, comfortable vacation home with four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. Located on the first floor is the spacious guest apartment with living space, kitchenette and a full bathroom. This room can accommodate five guests, with a queen-size bed and twin-over-full-size bunk bed. Three bedrooms located on the second level of The Fire Escape can accommodate seven guests. The primary bedroom offers a king size bed with a full bathroom. The guest bedroom offers a queen-size bed. The bunk room has a twin-over-full-size bunk bed. The second bath on this floor is shared with the two guest bedrooms.

The third level houses the main living area and fully stocked kitchen. The living room sofa converts to a bed for extra guests. The dining area seats 14 comfortably. The powder bathroom is located on this level. Walk out onto The Fire Escape's private balcony and soak up the salty breezes, or head up to the rooftop terrace for exceptional ocean views.

Village Walk neighborhood rules: the property manager will provide four parking passes upon your arrival. No boats, RVs or trailers are allowed at Village Walk. All vehicles must be parked in the driveway, no street parking or parking in red zones. Additional amenities include free Wi-Fi, two community pools, grills, gated community, flat-screen TVs in every room and Silver Sands concierge service. Golf carts are available to rent.

Home was perfect for our 1st stay in Port A! The kids had their area where they could all sleep together! The family common area was amazing for eating and game playing! Would definitely stay again!!! If I had only a slight concern it would be the recommendation for golf carts. We could never get a call back to rent who they recommended but found plenty of cart places to rent from!

Relaxing

The place is large and accessible. The home was clean and had plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing. The pool table in the garage was nice to hangout, and the roof deck had an amazing view with an awesome breeze. Highly recommend.

Plenty of Space, Enjoyed the Views

We had a great stay at this property! The three-story layout offered plenty of room for everyone, and the location couldn’t have been better—easy access to the beach and onsite entertainment options that teens in our group really enjoyed.We appreciated that the property is pet-friendly, though it’s worth noting that dogs can’t be left in the yard, so plan accordingly. The only thing we found ourselves wishing for more hand towels for the bathrooms and kitchen.Overall, it was a fantastic spot for a family getaway, and we’d recommend it for its space, location, and teen-friendly amenities. Be sure to spend some relaxing time upstairs enjoying the views both during the day and at night!

Great House

The house itself was beautiful and location were great but there are a few things that need to be fixed. The railing on the 3rd floor balcony off the living room is extremely loose. I thought I was going to fall 3 stories when I leaned against it. It is a major hazard that needs to be fixed ASAP. The elevator got stuck on us several times between floors. There is a bad water leak when it was raining coming through the door jam in the 2nd floor, 2nd bathroom, the door jam between the sink area and toilet area was pouring water out of it.

Family Vacation in The Fire Escape

For the most part we all enjoyed this house however there were a few things that were very disappointing. On the rental website in the pictures there is not a house off the back decks. There is a open view between house and beach. It was upsetting to find a view of a house instead. Pictures need to be updated. The elevator broke twice. And after the second time maintenance did not fix it and we had to lug all of our luggage and coolers down 2 flights of stairs. Also the description states a walk to the beach. Not realistic. The golf cart was nice but the only way to get to beach was by car or golf cart. A/C worked great. Beds were comfortable. I don't think we would rent this house again.

Not clean on time No trash bags Buy a new trash can Remotes out of batteries Minor repairs needed throughout Great place overall all. But remember, the devil is in the details. Pay attention to detail. You'll get 5 stars. I'll look for something more updated next time.

Fire Escape Review

I gave one star for one reason and one reason only. The pictures on the website show an unobstructed view of the beach (https://www.silversandsvacationrentals.com/port-aransas-rentals/fire-escape), but when I get there I see that there is a new building being built completely blocking the view of the beach. False advertising in my opinion. I paid extra for that view, that was shown on the website and I did not get that view. The other issues were minor: (1) the bathroom on 3rd floor was not cleaned when we checked in. Toilet was dirty, no toilet paper or hand soap. (2) There was not enough dishwasher soap (only three pods) (3) There were not enough dish towels. Overall I like Silver Sands and I will most likely rent another unit again, I was just very upset the picture on the website does not match the reality.

I would love to rate this home better and would if it had more comfortable beds. Even just adding some pillow tops. Going on a fun vacation, playing all day in the sun then getting to bed tired to a HARD and totally uncomfortable bed. Mainly the king and 2 queen beds. Only 1 dish towel in the kitchen. No extra trash liners (only 2 provided) no extra paper towels, dishwasher soap. Please label owners closet by front door. Air turned to 86 degrees in the house - very hot on arrival!

We had an unexpected family hospitalization and were told that their policy is to provide documentation of the emergency for credit but that we needed to contact airbnb first. I did and airbnb left it up to Silver Sands to changed our dates. Silver Sands did not allow for the change because they said we contacted them too late even though I was communicating in real time as the hospitalization was happening. And also to not expect prompt response if contacting them through airbnb. Previously they had been quick to respond when I asked a question about washer and dryer and that is of course how they first communicate about sending in other documentation for the rental. But still, I did call Silver Sands directly and email them directly as well as contact them through airbnb. They put their rentals out on airbnb, so I believe they should give the same customer service experience. But still, through 3 methods of communication during a family emergency at the hospital they said they could not do anything about changing our dates even to one that would cost less than the $2k we had already paid for. We have stayed at airbnb before and we have been patient and good customers to allow for time and mistakes on their part, but I guess that only works one way. We take this trip every May to memorialize a family member and now that family member's spouse had an opportunity to go for the last time. I understand that they as a company need to make money on a stay, but their is still room for grace and "let's see what we can do" for all parties to have a good experience. And yes, I understand that Silver Sands needs to make money off of the rental, we were simply asking for a change of dates that could be a time when their unit is typically not rented and for a shorter period of time, so that it would be the least inconvenience to them. Finally, I would walk away knowing I would rent from them again if the person I spoke to on the phone and the person emailing had had the sensitivity and customer service needed for this situation. But instead we got an uncouth experience from both.

2 Stars: The Fire Escape

This was our first time to Port A. Upon arrival at the home it was nearly evening and dark, and as we settled in and inspected the home, heading to the rooftop directly obstructing the ocean views that were advertised was the construction of 2 new homes. This was an absolute disappointment. We thought we were paying for and would enjoy unobstructed ocean views and that was absolutely not the case, and workers at those 2 homes from sun-up to sun-down our entire week there were banging and making building/painting noise incessantly (metal ladders up and down, etc.). No ability to take a lazy afternoon nap which is routine for us while disconnecting and on vacation trying to get away from the “noise” of everyday life, not to mention thinking the price we were paying would not include this. This was our biggest disappointment yet additionally the home was not as clean as we would have expected for the price paid. The kitchen supplies and utensils and pots and pans were not clean, were old, and subpar. The appliances in the kitchen were also old and outdated (stove, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher). Also there was a Kuerig coffeemaker which we expected to utilize that did not work (thankfully there was a basic drip coffee machine that we utilized). There was only 1 kitchen dish towel in the entire home. The quality of all of the paper products provided (toilet paper and paper towels) were economy grade and literally paper thin. The pictures of the home show a guest bedroom with bunk beds on the second floor and that wasn't the case; it was a double/queen bed only and the home was advertised to have TVs in every bedroom which our boys always enjoy and that was also not the case in this same “changed” bedroom-no TV. Also the fact that you cannot get to the ground floor suite (not detached as advertised, rather part of the garage area inside the home) without taking the elevator was a disappointment. Overall when spending the amount of money on a home as we did here we would expect it to be as advertised and unfortunately that simply wasn't the case at The Fire Escape. Very disappointing, and we elected to leave our vacation early.

COULD be great

The Fire Escape COULD be a great rental, but it is not because the owners or the management company just don't care anymore, don't communicate and pinch pennies. Communication: check in was confusing with the incorrect gate code. We weren't given any information about the golf cart and had to call several different offices to find out how to get the key. The information binder in the unit is just plain incorrect, and pretty useless. Amenities: we were not provided with hand towels or washcloths for any of the 3 bathrooms and the towels were threadbare and stained and we were only given 1 hand towel for the kitchen. We were given 2 dishwasher pods for a party of 6 + 2 children for 4 days and only 2 trash bags. The video for the TV on the ground floor is not connected to the cable box (no cable to be found) and the DVD player doesn't have a remote and respond to pushing the buttons on the unit. Basically the entire downstairs gameroom kids room doesnt work at all. The queen bed on one of the downstairs bunk beds was on a sheet of ply wood but still sagged in the middle and the neighbors outdoor lights flooded in through the slatted wood blinds all night making sleeping difficult. The pros- open concept kitchen, living and dining with room for all, the golf cart and the crows nest for sunsets.

great view of the ocean, lots of room

we had a great time at this property, although there were a few issues, leaky commode in garage bathroom, tvs in all of the bedrooms didn't seem to work......internet issues??? also the breakers flipped in the kitchen on the last day, but they air conditioning was cold and shower was hot😊overall was very good, already planning to be back next year for family vacay!!! love Port A and silver sands resorts

Great Place With EXCESSIVE Fees

The place shows some age but it is nice with an excellent view and a good location. We really appreciated box fans. They provided good check-in instructions but there were no instructions on the location of the golf cart key or operation of the (not smart) TV. The Keurig didn't work (instructions were there). The master bath needs better makeup lighting. There were only 3 wash cloths in the top two levels which have 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. A broom and dust pan left inside door while we were out. The advertised price was $425/night but when tax ($77/ night) & fees were added the total was $678/night. This included a cleaning fee of $195 but the instructions still said for us to carry out the trash and put dishes in dishwasher then start it. There was a very dirty coffee cup in cupboard so maybe the cleaner should take care of the dishes.

Fire Escape

Automated check in was a little frustrating. We could not get anyone to answer the phone to clarify instructions until very late on the day of our check in. There was a swarm of bees on the third floor patio that they never took care of. The house itself was very clean and one of the only houses I’ve ever stayed in w ocean views at every level. Had one more full size bed than the picture showed which worked out better for our group anyway.

Fun house with a bad experience

We arrived pretty late in the night and were super tired when we arrived but, the first thing we noticed when we got there was a whole room (the kids room with 4 beds) was not cleaned at all. Beds unmade, towels on the floor, and trash (feminine products) in the trash can. We couldn’t use more than half of the beds in the house! It was very frustrating. I immediately took pictures and emailed the building Management. I got no response even after a follow up email the next day. When it was time for check out, I went to the property management property and spoke to them personally about the mess. They said they would talk to the home owner and ask what they should do about it. A week later, I still hadn’t had a response back from anyone. I gave them plenty of time to respond and make it right, even messaged on VRBO my issues because last thing I ever want to do was write a negative review. I understand things happen but, the lack of communication and paying full price for a house we couldn’t fully utilize is extremely irritating! Otherwise, the house was nice, beds were comfortable, loved the rooftop view, and free gold card access.

Amazing house

Had a wonderful stay-beds were comfy, kitchen had everything you could possibly need (bring kitchen towels and detergent pods for the dishwasher)-one of the only houses in the subdivision with an unobstructed view of the ocean so enjoyed the patio very much-great house for dogs since the outside patio is fenced in-great that the golf cart was included

Reviewer Comments: When we arrived housekeeping was still cleaning, so we waited outside until they were finished. When they left we had to clean again it didn’t feel like it was disinfected with anything. BBQ area was not clean, dishwasher dirty, dirty towels from previous guest behind doors, table on the deck was full of food, elevator full of equipment. Now as far as amenities it states the occupancy is 12 so they put 2 towels in each bathroom for a total of 6 and leave you with a used toilet paper on the holder, only 1 trash bag, 1 dish towel, so make sure you bring towels, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, Lysol, Clorox wipes to disinfect. As far as Maintenance goes, the door on the lower level code box doesn’t work, and refrigerator does not cool properly, on the second night I found out the freezer part was iced over so I cleaned out the ice and it seemed a little better, but it was to late for the milk, juice, eggs, and other cold items I had to throw away. Now for the positives, the location was great! Amazing views, golf cart included, lots of room in the house for 12, foosball table, pool table, lots of games, game table in the apartment below. I would still recommend this place because of location and views, I would just warn anyone of all the extra stuff we had to do here.

Great Time in Port A

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great house, plenty of room and a fabulous view!
