Please note that La Grange has a working train that comes through the middle of town. There is no set schedule for the train and it can come through at various times throughout the day and night. This property is adjacent to the tracks and while many guests find it charming and enjoy watching the train pass by, ear plugs are provided should the noise disturb you.
The property was lovely and comfortable and the host was helpful and responsive. My husband and I enjoyed a weekend at the Ginger Jar as our home base while seeing performances in Gonzales, La Grange and Winedale. We enjoyed the patio each evening and had family over for lunch one day - all raved about the charming decor. Everything we needed was provided and high quality. The train (which is fully disclosed) is no joke and it did come by 3 times a night. It worked for our short stay without any early mornings but be aware.
This was exactly as described! There is a loud train to note that tumbles though throughout the night, as mentioned in the description House was cute and comfortable, and very accessible for our Round Top shopping!
Wow is right! 5 women attending the Cowboy gathering (a3 day dance) booked this air B and B. It was perfect. Kitchen well stocked and clean and remodeled with all conveniences. Our 3 Bedrooms were very comfortable and nice from the beds to the bathrooms and so clean and comfortable. The decore was amazing calling with the beautiful hardwood floors and wainscoting! Needless to say I wanted to move in.. The host was incredible and was quick to get back with us on questions!!
Amazing old house, very comfortable beds, pillows, sheets....it really was fantastic. And its decorated so cute. Very clean. Very convenient to RT antique week.
Wonderful girls week of RoundTop shopping. Well equipped with all comforts of home. Host excellent to deal with and had already anticipated our needs. If you read other reviews you know the home is located beside a RR track. Host is very up front about location. Host has earplugs in every room. We were so tired from all our shopping we just rolled right over.
We would definitely stay again if in the area.
Beautiful historic property in a quint little town⊠and close to Round Top and antiquing! Our host was great to work with and very accommodating. Weâll stay again for sure.
We loved the house, the area. Itâs a great place to stay. We would definitely stay here again. It was very clean. Great ambiance. AnY question promptly answered. Thank you !!
We had friends that were playing at Bugle Boy. The house was locate close by to the restaurant we all met at and to Bugle Boy.
The house was very cute and clean. Loved drinking my morning coffee on the back porch.
We were here for our community reunion we all had a blast itâs was the best time we have had in a long time.. Thanks so much for the early check inn and Thanks again for being a great Hostess..
Took my elderly parents and grand kids for a weekend getaway. We had a great tine. The place was clean and spacious. Restroom I. Every bedroom was a plus. Front four was challenging to get in but once the cleaning haft came and explained you gave to really push hard to open it once you enter your key code. Also no site if the bicycles. But the Janet was nice and allowed us a later check out. I will be back to visit this home more in the future
We enjoyed staying at this sweet house in La Grange for our daughters wedding at the Ice Plant. The location was very close and the house is very cute!
The house was perfect for our sister getaway! The only downside of our stay was the lawn was overgrown and the bike tires needed some air other than that the stay was great! We really enjoyed the porches!
If you are a fan of HGTV, you will see that this house is the "after," the big reveal on your favorite design show. The house is absolutely beautiful, and if you're like me, you'll take a lot of photos so you can copy parts of the design when you get home. But not only is it beautiful, it's totally comfortable. Every thoughtful touch you can imagine is there. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.
The bathrooms have great tubs, clawfeet, and one corner tub that is huge. The beds are comfortable and there are lots of warm covers and pillows if you need them.
The kitchen is equipped for anything. I couldn't think of a single thing that I might have needed that wasn't there.
The yard and the porches are also beautiful. We had some very nice weather while we were there and enjoyed sitting outside in the comfy chairs.
I can't wait to come and stay again. I was there this time for Round Top (very convenient but out of the fray) and I would go back just to enjoy the house. And I live on Long Island. ;-)
You will not regret choosing this house. You will just not want to leave.
Caroline was a great host (and, again, decorator!) and she responded within minutes to any questions we had. We didn't have many--there is a book that tells you all about the house, not to mention that Caroline provided all the information you need to check in and get settled before we even arrived.
Wonderful home. Excellent host. Plenty of towels and extras. Very nice rental. While next to the train track, the passing trains never really bothered us.
The house was perfect for two couples. All the amenities you would need for cooking and lounging. Beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. The host was easy to contact and gave very clear instructions for checkin and out. Yes it is next to the train tracks but it didnât affect our sleep. Overall, great location, welcoming and comfortable house that has been beautifully decorated. Would book again!
Iâm Caroline and live in Austin with my three children. Life is super busy! Which is why I love the slower pace, sense of community and ease that comes with staying in a small Texas town like La Grange.
I also love anything that has a story behind it and has character that can be felt- like antiques and old homes! Whether you are on a girlâs trip to reconnect, a visit to Round Top or just to unwind in a quieter space, I truly hope you enjoy it here as much as I do!
The house is a restored Victorian guesthouse. There are 2 bedrooms on the main level, one with a king-size bed and one with a queen; two twins on the second floor and a queen pull out sofa in the living room. One bathroom features a claw foot tub and a hand held shower, one bathroom has a full size bathtub and there is also a stand up shower on the main level. There is a clawfoot tub upstairs that has been converted into a shower.
In the kitchen please help yourself to bottled water in the fridge and Keurig coffee, drip coffee and tea selections. Powdered creamer, sugar and salt and pepper are provided.
If you are joining us for Round Top Antique Festival we have a full size garage that you are welcome to store your finds in. There is an automatic side gate that leads to the driveway and garage. The driveway can accommodate 2-3 cars for off street parking.
La Grange is a charming little town and you are just three blocks away from the town square and courthouse, where there is a coffee shop, wine bar, antique shops and boutiques. Round Top and Warrenton are both just a short drive from the house. If you are attending a wedding at The Ice Plant Building, you are literally around the corner from the wedding venue!
There are a number of fun activities including a winery, brewery and historical sites that you can visit from La Grange. Also donât miss the famed Kolache Trail! Check out the La Grange Visitors Guide here!
Please remember that La Grange has a working train that comes through the heart of town. The whistle blows at various times throughout the day and even at night. Most guests find it charming and part of the small town experience, but ear plugs are provided if needed.
