Starting your day off right is easy in the gourmet kitchen, equipped with a gas range, ample seating at the spacious island, stainless steel appliances, double ovens, and all the utensils needed to prepare a delicious breakfast.

After a day of adventure, unwind with a cold drink on the porch or relax by the fire. The spacious living areas provide a comfortable escape for families, couples, or groups of friends. In addition to outdoor exploration, you can enjoy indoor fun with an air hockey table and a second living area on the lower level. Boyne Mountain Resort is not far and offers ziplining, horseback riding, an indoor waterpark, a full-service spa, and other unique activities!

So many beds

This house has a bed for everyone! The bunk room has 3 queen over queen beds alone. The kitchen is well appointed with appliances to accommodate large groups. Communication with host was very quick and thorough. We would definitely stay here again.

Great stay

Perfect house for a large group. Best stocked house we have ever rented. We had 10 people, 6 of which were from South Africa. It was February and they had never seen snow. We had a ton of snow. Access to attractions and restaurants was great. The snow kept us from leaving while waiting on a plow, and we had to shovel a few times. However, as mentioned above, the house is great.

Family ski trip

The house is beautiful and very spacious. It was very clean and was great for large groups. The communication with the property manager was great and easy check in. I would definitely recommend this property.

The Shire was wonderful

Our stay at the he Shire was very nice for our group of 10 friends. The location on the lake was beautiful and convenient. The house was very well equipped with all the kitchen necessities and accessories which made our stay very easy. With lots of room to lounge and relax we all enjoyed the time together..

Beautiful property and location.

Three brothers and their adult children spent a weekend here for a family wedding. There were 14 of us in total. We had plenty of room and just about every convenience we could think of. We had other family members join us for dinner and games and had plenty of room, plates, cups etc for 22 one evening. The check in process was very easy. We did notice a musty smell in the basement and the ceiling fans needed a good clean but other than that our stay was fantastic.

Great location!

We had a great stay! The property was beautiful! We couldn’t have asked for a better home to get together in. Easily accessible and close enough to wineries and town. Would definitely go back!

As Advertised - Perfect

We stayed for a week for a family reunion. It was a perfect house and a great location. Easy drive to downtown Charlevoix and Boyne City (by care or boat). The house had plenty of room for 10 adults and 4 young kids. The big front yard was perfect for the kids and the firepit was great for early evening smores and drinks. Communication with the property manager was efficient and timely. We all agreed we'd definitely stay at The Shire again!!!!

Wonderful family home.

Loved the setting and the home, especially the very well-equipped , spacious kitchen. Plenty of room for our family of 12. Kayaks were great. Lawn for wiffle ball games. Wonderful fire pit for evening gatherings. Spectacular sunsets. Grill was a bit wonky, with broken rack. Basement area smelled musty, a problem for those with allergies. Permanent dehumidifier would be helpful.

Michigan family vacation

First time taking my adult children and their significant others to the Michigan area for family vacation. House and location were excellent. Plenty of bedrooms and large kitchen space that easy accommodates a large group. Great backyard for games and fun. Easy access to Lake Charlevoix for swimming. Bring water shoes because the shoreline is very rocky. Enjoy taking out the kayaks and paddleboard. Boyne city is a sleepy but very fun town. Easy access to Petoskey or Charlevoix. Great golf courses within 30 minute drive. Multiple hiking trails in the surrounding hills.

Wonderful property

Great place to stay in the area. House was wonderful for a large family party (three generations). Bunk rooms for kids and independent, comfortable rooms for adults. Great kitchen fully stocked for a large party that was very social. Lovely congregating spaces like the deck, the two dens, the fire pit, the beach. We had a lovely time here even if the late June weather wasn’t quite summery this year.

Awesome House!

We had an awesome time at this property. We had a full house and this home had more than enough room for everyone to enjoy their own space in comfort. Having two refrigerators was very helpful for our large group. Being close to a grocery store and Boyne Mountain was also helpful. The home was very clean and well equipped. The property manager was very responsive to all my questions before and during our stay. This is our second time visiting this property and we will certainly be back.

Great Winter Weekend with Friends

We stayed for the weekend, two nights, with 11 friends. Plenty of room and comfortable beds. Great gathering space. Beautiful accomodations. Two refrigerators was much appreciated. Long, winding driveway did cause a bit of a problem for us; would highly recommend a "caution - drive slowly" sign at the turns with low visibility, or mirrors that could help you see if oncoming traffic is approaching.

Winter Weekend

Such a wonderful stay at The Shire! Our group of 13 lady friends was comfortable and pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of the interior and beautiful views outside. The proximity to shopping and skiing was perfect. Something one friend suggested is a new frying pan in the kitchen and another thought it would be nice to have a few mirrors on the walls other than in the bathroom. Our stay at The Shire was absolutely lovely, thank you so much!

Bachelorette weekend getaway

We stayed here for my best friends Bachelorette weekend and it was absolutely amazing!!! Everyone was so impressed with the beautiful kitchen, spacious layout and cleanliness of the place. It also has such a gorgeous view of Lake Charlevoix with a great location right near Boyne city. This place is a 10/10 and definitely highly recommend it for any larger groups!

Beautiful

Stayed at this property for a family winter weekend. House and property are spacious and beautiful. Close to town and Boyne Mountain. The only issue occurred when we got some snowfall and two cars without four-wheel drive we’re unable to make it up the somewhat steep and winding driveway. Some salt and time rectified issue but something to keep in mind during winter months.
