To start, the communication was pretty good though some details were fudged. Check in was easy. The beach was sandy and this place had some good amenities. Towels galore, plentiful seating and large back deck. The Bad: SO HOT IN THE HOUSE. When messaged with manager, she said there were fans in all of the rooms to deal with the heat but they were TINY and we had to buy fans. The beds were terrible and have not been updates in 30 years, thatâs not an exaggeration. Every back hurt the next day because of all the broken springs. The whole house needed a reallly good deep clean and while lake houses do have more bugs, this place had spiders EVERYWHERE! Regular spraying really does some good! Only one of the burners on the stove worked properly, the toilets back up, BUT we still had a good time and the place was cheaper. Lake was amazing. Wouldnât stay again though.
Overall we were very pleased with the house and location of it. We were looking for peaceful place to stay and not to be disturbed by the neighbors. The house is located maybe 10 minutes outside of town so going to the grocery store or going to eat dinner was extremely easy. I spent most mornings sitting on the couch looking out the back door at the lake and private dock. I really enjoyed the bird feeder on the back deck and the abundance of animals that came to feed there. The ducks made their way up one morning and feasted on the bird food on the deck. The house is located about 1:10 minutes from Mackinaw and about 1:30 from Traverse City.
The hosts were very responsive and friendly. The lake house was spacious and we would stay here again. It would be nice if there was firewood available for the pit. Buying from the gas station was expensive for wood. We plan on returning next year.
Great location for skiers! Plenty of space for friends/family to gather. Fireplaces needed, but once they were going, the place was nice and toasty! Would love to stay during the summer!
This roomy home provides amenities galore! Great sunrise/sunset views over the lake. And the wide shallow shoreline made it especially safe for the children to have endless play. Yes, could pay more attention to detail especially for us summer visitors i.e. a clean grill and deck floor. Although our visit was a summer vacation, I can envision it a great group ski trip stay! Thanks Karen:)

-One of the cleanest and most beautiful lakes
-The communication was prompt
-A five minute drive to town.
-Easily slept 12 people
-Lots of games
-Bird seed so that you can enjoy the birds
-Most of the beds were comfortable
-Have most of what is needed in the kitchen
-Dishwasher
-As long as the outside temperature stays below 90° the house stays pretty comfortable
-Plenty of towels
-Family room and living room and dining area
-Nice large gas grill connected to a gas line
-Two basketball hooping the water
Cons:
-Wasnât the cleanest
-Lots of spiders but you are up north
-The deck is slippery when when wet but I think it is because the desk needs to be power washed
-The house is in need of repairs
-The two twin mattresses were extremely uncomfortable
-The well water was very rusty and eggy and went out for about 15 minutes*
-Inside the fridge the condensation builds up and drains but they do keep two bowls in the back to collect water
-No central air
-There is a âjunkâ spot partially fenced off near were the garbage cans are stored. It looks like a collection of odds and ends from a remodel or something.
-King bed takes up most of the room and there are not night stands.
*When the well went out we reached out to Karen and she let us know it couldâve been that too much water was ran and to wait about 10 minutes. The water pressure came back after about 15 minutes.
The cabin was wonderful and very spacious for 10 people! Campfires by the lake and views were amazing. Glad we brought the boat, the lake was clear and surface was glass most of our stay. Thank you!
Comfy beds, clean, well stocked kitchenâŠ.but the real beauty of this piece of heaven is the deck, the dock, and the view! So peaceful and quiet and so easy to get to everywhere. We loved staying here!
Pros:
Super close to Boyne and Boyne City
Spacious with two living areas
Loved the assortment of games
Large kitchen table
Nice fireplace
Kitchen appliances worked well, enough plates, etc.
Rooms were warm, except bunk bed room
Plenty of towels
Cons: bathroom needs to be renovated (paint peeling off vanity, yellow stains on floor tile, very old shower)
Some of the beds were uncomfortable with thin mattresses
With a little work, this house would be great.
This was the perfect location for a long weekend of skiing at Boyne. The view from the cabin and wood burning fire places were a major plus. The house was clean and well stocked. We were comfortable with sleeping arrangements but the other furniture, mainly couches, could definitely use an upgrade.
Our family lives full time in downtown Plymouth, Michigan. We love our getaway in Boyne during the winter months and summer. We try to get up 1-2 times per month and rent the other week-ends. Our two boys grew up skiing in the winter and wake-boarding in the summer.
Sunsets on the lake are spectacular.. and then come the stars! We have a big bonfire pit with log benches.. We provide kayaks, a rowboat and a canoe for your lake pleasure. Lots of swimming, fishing and good old fashion lake fun!! We are close to wineries for fall wine tours as well.
For winter sports enthusiasts we are 5 minutes from Boyne Mountain Ski Resort for skiing, skating, tubing, cross country skiing and more!
We are a five minute drive to the main ski lift at Boyne Mountain, Avalanche Bay and the Boyne Mountain Grand and all it's amenities. The cottage is situated in a beautiful peaceful setting while being 20 minutes from Petoskey and or Gaylord for shopping... 24 hours Meijer's ... and less than 10 minutes from downtown Boyne City.
Our stocked kitchen makes cooking your meals easy !
