It is an older house with a lot of character. For our very large family. The pool was super clean and a hit with everyone. Very convenient to lake George, and having a grocery store a very short walk away was a huge bonus!
The house has a lot of character. Great quiet neighborhood. Gas station, grocery store, pharmacy, and ice cream shop within walking distance. Dog park near by. Heated swimming pool was very nice and relaxing. Property manager made sure we were happy with our stay.
We booked this home for an extended weekend getaway with friends, drawn in by its charm and historic character. The listing checked all our boxes before the visit, and we were excited to stay in a place that felt truly unique. Upon arrival, the house did not disappoint in terms of curb appeal â built in 1850, it had all the vintage charm that makes a vacation rental memorable.Unfortunately, our experience inside the home was affected by a very strong odor of cat urine. The smell was immediately noticeable when we walked in and at times became overwhelming, to the point where we chose to spend most of our time outside on the patio, even in colder weather, rather than inside the house. This house has great potential and could be a fantastic stay once the odor issue is resolved. We hope the host is able to address this soon, because otherwise, it truly is a special property.
When we arrived in the evening, the lights were on which was a nice touch making it easy to see as we made our way inside the most beautiful old house weâve been in on a vacation.Plenty of bedrooms and beds updated kitchen and bathroom with two other full-size bathrooms made it quicker to get out and go do some sightseeing.Pool was huge and was warm enough that we all swam on the last day. The host was amazing and allowed us a late checkout. The pool caretaker Jessie stopped multiple times to make sure the pool was running and warming to itâs best ability for our stay..being were the 1st guests of the season! And I made a new friend with the property manager.. he was so accommodating and had the most wonderful conversation. We did bring our own towels, but there were a few towels here if somebody forgets. There was plenty of paper towels and toilet paper for us to use during our entire stay.Overall, this is a five star rental and we will be returning in the future.
Property listing was accurate. Location was awesome- lots to do near there both nature and attractions. Place was clean. Owner proactive and responsive. Heated pool was great. General condition of the house is in really tough shape and floors creak more than any place Iâve been. this sounds like a nit but it made the stay less enjoyable. Overall, a pretty good experience.
There were 15 of us staying. This house was able to accommodate all of us and the young ones loved the pool!
There was plenty of seating for meals. We enjoyed ourselves
Loved the house. The lawn was overgrown when we arrived and was finally mowed the day before we left. The pool was a lot of fun, but overgrown also and not vacuumed during the time we were there. But would definitely come back again!
I can't say enough great things about our time in the Adirondacks! Our host was a pleasure to work with and responded to messages very quickly. The house was exactly as described. Plenty of room for everyone in our party. I don't have pets but people in my party brought their dogs. I loved that the rental was pet friendly, but I wasn't aware that other animals had been there. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. I loved that everything we needed was right there, not just pots/pans/dishes, but also dish washer pods, dish soap for the sink, garbage bags, etc. The neighborhood was safe and amenities were close by. If you're looking to get away with a group I would highly recommend booking this rental!
The home is exactly what we needed for our party of 17 including 8 kids. Older of course but immaculately clean when we arrived. Enough room to get away or be together! The location was not entirely as expected and I pictured something a bit more set back from the street. Didnât matter though because you arenât going to be in the front yard anyway. When we first pulled up, I was a bit unsure but happy when we went into the house. It was perfect for what we needed. The backyard (separate from pool which was nice) provided great location for cornhole and sâmores. Gas grill came in handy! I personally was able to go to bed at 930 while others liked to stay up hours later and I heard nothing.
We made great memories! We would return and we are picky! Thanks!
Our family of 16 enjoyed our vacation. Our grandchildren loved swimming in the well-maintained pool, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and playing hide and seek in the houseâs nooks and crannies. The adults spent many hours on the screened in porch. The house is located conveniently near family-friendly beaches and Lake George
Property is big with large living rooms, kitchen and dining. Bed rooms are located in the first floor, with 6 bed rooms and 2 full baths in first floor and 1 full bath in ground floor. Living room is decently furnished with good sofa, carpet and other furniture. Since the property is very old, it makes noise when someone walks in the first floor. There is fireplace in the backyard and swimming pool. We could not use swimming pool due to bad weather, it was raining. Property managed was approachable on phone for any questions and visited the property when needed.
The house has plenty of space with a nice pool and decent sized backyard. It is an older house so the bedroom layouts are a bit unconventional and the floors are noisy but the house was clean upon arrival. The host was very helpful and quick to respond.
The house is located on busy Main Street. The location was convenient with the Tops supermarket 2 doors down to the left, popular ice cream shop a short walk to the right, and a few restaurants to the right. However on the weekdays there are trucks going down the main st very early so if youâre a light sleeper avoid the front bedrooms as it can be pretty loud. The pool was enjoyable although very cold. Kids loved it nonetheless. As for the house itself, it is a very old house and the age of the house definitely shows. The floors and stairs throughout the house are very uneven which wasnât great for our younger kids who are already running around off balance. There Are plenty of bedrooms throughout the house which made it easy for our large family to spread out. Lots of spiders and flies throughout the house from the moment we arrived so not for those who are afraid of bugs. All in all, our family enjoyed our time and stay but was definitely a little difficult the first couple of days getting everyone to feel comfortable at the house due to the bugs/cleanliness of the place. We basically washed and cleaned everything we had to use before using just for peace of mind.
Large old home, many beds and baths, couches and eating areas, nice pool
However, very busy road, property needs maintenance, house in dire need of painting through out, kitchen really needs help. Rural doesnât mean rundown, donât have expectations, all leftover furniture from owners home I suspect. It served our needs since we had family lakefront house to spend days.
House nice and big enough to accommodate large group . Everyone enjoyed the stays . All the arrangements made was good and check in / check out time was flexible. Only one think we observed was the hot water Finishes sooner . So some arrangement need to made towards
I went up to this property for my 21st birthday and was planning spending no time inside because we were going to spend all our time at the lake. Unfortunately the weather on our full day was atrocious so we got stuck inside. We had plenty of space for hanging out and everyone was comfortable the wifi worked really well the pool looked good although we didnât use it and grilling up burgers was very easy.
The house is old you can tell but itâs a great house the only thing I caution you on is that the kitchen has 1 oven 1 microwave (2 fridges which is a plus) so cooking for 20 people when you get stuck inside can get a little difficult
The location is pretty close to a grocery store too so that helps.
Overall we thought we would have an issue with the house because itâs not as secluded as ones I have stayed at in the past but being in a more central location in a town was a good thing
Also Chestertown has a 10 pm noise curfew which obviously is no fault of the house but keep that in mind if youâre planning on bringing 20+ people
very dirty house And no Internet until the last day The manager he was bad the owner never respond me all The couch is garbage You cannot even Seat on it The bed was horrible Iâm sorry about this is Real Iâm not lying to you guys
The house was great for our large group! Pool area felt private and large. Itâs an older property, so here and there youâd find something worn, but it was very comfortable and had great charm!
We, as a group of 14, enjoyed our stay. The house is old, but has character & suited us just fine, everyone said their beds were comfortable & having 3 bathrooms was very convenient.
Just one thing threw us off ..... the listing mentioned waterfront - we never saw a lake or a river.
Home is certainly spacious & has sleeping capacity for many. However, itâs in a word âdilapidatedâ. Swimming pool & wooden deck area are nice but pool circumference is overgrown & concrete is crumbling. Utilities & internet very unreliable causing us to wait hours for service companies on different days. Upstairs TV did get fixed but WiFi never worked. Pre-arrival Cleaning was at the very least inadequate.
Chestertown is a very small village with supermarket & ice cream store convenient but limited restaurant options. Heavy truck traffic on the street in front of the house.
Property manager, Dick, was very responsive; however, this will be a historical house we will never re-visit
I fell in love with this part of Lake George and Gore Mt Region and bought several properties here over the past 11 years. The charm of this particular house combined with the potential to accommodate large groups of people sold itself in my eyes.
