While the house could use some updating, we found it to be clean. It is very close to Gore for skiing. It snowed a lot before our trip and while we were there, but the owner has a plow service and the driveway was taken care of. You will be hard pressed to find another house with so many bedrooms and bathrooms.
Comfortable home, lots of room, short drive to Gore, very happy with accomodation. Only issue black fly situation in house maybe due to change in temperature and some unexpected warm weather, overall would stay again, Nice communication with host, very considerate, thank you.
Was a great place for us to gather for a wknd. Big enough so all had a separate space and bathroom. The screened porch was great as one day was a washout!
Property was great as it had bathrooms for each bedroom so we never had to wait to do our morning or evening routine. 3 year old enjoyed running around in the grass and the rest of us enjoyed the view from the deck. Couldnât get the internet to work but that didnât bother us.
Great quiet place on the river, big yard outside for kids and pets and plenty of room for large families to sleep and having 6 bathrooms is a bonus. Surprisingly, with venturing north or south there's a lot to do. Farmers market, decent restaurants, Oscars is a must for the bacon as well as the Deli at the mini mart subs, rubs, meats are awesome. Nice hidden gem in the country.
We stayed at this house during during mid-spring to visit nearby relatives. During our stay we had 3 families with us, all having their own bedroom AND bathroom (who can't appreciate that!?). The house is charming and has a very country feel. Across the street is the glorious Hudson River with several outdoorsy warm weather activities. We loved staying here and would stay again in a heartbeat.
This is the perfect location for skiing at Gore Mountain and exploring the area. It's a large well-equipped house with plenty of room for two families, including four teenagers and two dogs. We loved that every bedroom had its own bathroom. The living room and dining room were spacious and comfortable for everyone to gather after a day of skiing. This is an older house with lots of character and home comforts. We had a great getaway!
Great home base for hiking and going up a little farther north to see the full eclipse.
Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms! Place is as advertised - no frills just like the listing says âtrue rustic olde charm and not the brass and glass.â
We had issues with the heat and woke up to a 52 degree house every day, but the lister told us how to reset the furnace and we made it work for us.
We were 2 families with a total amount of 5 kids. Everything was perfect: a number of rooms & bathrooms and other amenities. One tiny disappointing thing: no replacement for burned-out electric bulbs of the right diameter and missing dish soap and dishwasher tablets.
House is situated 7-8 minutes drive from Gore mt.
The location was just what we were looking for. The house needs some minor repairs. Having five bedrooms each with its own bathroom was great. We got there Friday afternoon and had no problem getting into the house. Our phones all worked which was a very important. We were there on a hunting trip. I had my two sons and one of my grandsons with me. All of us were happy with the house and plan to use it again next year. Didn't get any deer but it was still a great time.
Kevin was Great...
When we arrived I had a question and he replied within 15 minutes..
The house is as described except the listing had an image of a wood burning stove which was removed. Kevin explained that they had to upgrade the system for insurance purposes which was totally understandable.
The home is well located to North Creek and Gore.
Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed for dinners after skiing. The dinning table was accommodated our party of 11 and plenty of couch space in the living room. Beds were very comfortable.
A memorable stay for sure.
Thanks
Comfortable and good location - needs a deep clean
Very rustic, good for large groups. Very nice feature was each room having itâs own heat and bathroom. The beds were comfortable and everything worked. The bathrooms were new and nice. Somethings to be aware of are that the upstairs is somewhat under construction and there are just carpet remnants over the subfloor. Also very dusty and dead flies in most of the window sills and lots of live flies. Everything needs to be wiped down, baseboards, kitchen cabinets, windowsills. That being said, we still enjoyed our stay. Was close to Gore mountain for skiing and Kevin the property manager got back to me immediately.
Arrived and noticed rotten exterior trim around windows and doors. Inside was outdated, and dirty. There was dirty underwear on the floor in the laundry room. Upstairs floor (bedroom area) was unfinished subflooring with area rugs. Beds were either unmade, or slept in previously. There were only four bedrooms, not the five advertised, and only three bathrooms, not 6. The house was easily 40+ years old, with outdated appliances, and furniture. We walked through, but didn't stay. My grandaughter stated that she was not going to stay there, and walked right out, without seeing the entire house. ( 9 years old). The owner was easy to contact, and the cancellation was easy ( once we traveled to where there was cell service). VRBO customer service was excellent, and asisted immediately in getting the cancellation, and refund, done in a timely manner.
The house layout and rooms were as shown in the pictures. We liked the house, its location, and that each bedroom had its own bathroom. The house itself would rate as a 4 or 5. Unfortunately, other issues would rate it as a 1 or 2. Surface areas in the kitchen and bathrooms were generally clean, but there were cobwebs everywhere, including a large one directly over the main dining table. There was active mice activity, one was seen and food we had in the storage area was eaten. Smoke detectors were missing batteries, and some outlets and switches were missing covers. The towels provided were worn and stained. Lastly, this is the first rental where we had to strip the beds, which seemed odd considering the separate cleaning and linen fees.
Eight of us from the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club Ski Touring Section rented this house for a February cross- country ski trip. The house had plenty of room for 3 couples and a pair of singletons and was roomy and well-equipped for our needs. We cooked most of our meals and found the kitchen more than adequate for our needs. The house is centrally located with respect to Garnet Hill ski trails, the Gore Ski Bowl nordivpc trails, the Siamese Ponds trails, and the trail into Great Camp Santanoni.
On the down side, the house was pretty dirty, including ceiling fans that had not been cleaned in a year or more, corners and baseboards that needed a good cleaning, and mold on the side of the freezer. The vent fan on the stove didnât work and there was no vent fan in one of the bathrooms upstairs, and several of the dining chairs fell apart when you sat on them. So, what is the cleaning fee for, exactly, and why is there a damage deposit?
We found the kitchen and main dining area had not been cleaned and some beds not made. Toilets had also not been cleaned. The bedrooms and bathrooms in general were quite comfortable.
We did discover the owner does not live in the area and was unaware of the conditions. He was grateful for the information and wants to make it right. He did return some of the cleaning fee since things were not as he had assumed.
Once we dealt with the issues that we could correct, the remainder of our stay was fine. Great location, a bathroom and exterior deck off each bedroom, plenty of sitting area downstairs and a spacious kitchen. Lots of parking.
It was a good base from which we conveniently paddled several lakes in the area.
Perfect location when skiing at Gore and neighbours to rafting companies so we are tempted to come back during that season. Casual and relaxing. I needed more instruction on the DVD and VHS system though.
Biggest problem:
- Wifi didn't work for the first 24hrs! there was no cell phone signal either. the house phone is not functioning either. It is like an isolated island with no means to connect with outside. Sometimes the text message come thru.
- We had to drive for a few min to access cell phone signal to contact property manager Kevin.
- Kevin was helpful and did his due diligence. the internet is back on after around 24 hrs.
minor problem:
- not super clean
- the water temp is unstable
Great:
- affordable
- Spacious
- close to gore mountain
With all the family and lots of bedrooms it was great having a bathroom for each bedroom.
We like any business that likes and letâs us stay with our dog. He is a very large labradoodle and very respectful of other peoples property.
Actually the only problem with this property was a couple of lightbulbs out in a few of the lamps. And thatâs wasnât a problem for us.
This property was bought originally to run as a bed and breakfast. Do to changes in the family it was not possible to make this dream come true. Instead it was decided to open up the second level and do a major remodel job. The hope was to provide a family getaway home people could vacation at with comfort. It does not have the brass ans sassy of today's modern upscale rental but more the charm and history of an Adirondack family home. We want families to come and enjoy the space. we just ask that is treated with respect.
The benefits of this home is its location and set up. large enough for a large family or two or three small ones. This home is also cozy enough for that couple to get away. we are close to most major attractions, yet far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle.
