Mountain views, walk to National Forest, close to Rio Grande
Alpine Cabin is a soft place to land after a day of adventure; it's a tranquil retreat surrounded by majestic mountains! Relax by the wood stove with hot cocoa or enjoy a glass of wine on the deck watching the sunset spread it's aspen glow on the mountains. Family time brings laughter and the smell of marshmallows roasting over the campfire, and stargazing is perfect here! Adventure awaits! It's an easy walk to National Forest. It's where we walk the dogs. An ATV, 4x4 or snowmobile takes you from driveway to top of Agua Ramon Mountain, or all the way to Wheeler Geologic Area by Creede. The Rio Grande NF offers nearly 2 million acres of beautiful forest and trails to explore. Fly fish, raft, or kayak in Rio Grande River or in several nearby lakes and streams. Gold Medal waters are at the bottom of the hill. Ski or sled at Wolf Creek Ski Area just 18 mi. from your door step. After a day of adventure, enjoy a great night's sleep in your cozy bed under 600 TC cotton sheets and luxurious down comforter. Wake up to amazing sunrises and watch the deer quietly graze and hummingbirds feed right outside your window. The cabin offers a well-stocked, open-concept kitchen to prepare a hearty breakfast to begin another beautiful day. It's our Happy Place and we hope it will become your happy place for years to come!
the cabin was clean and comfortable. secluded, quiet location. Excellent communication with owner. suggest bringing drinking water due to the mineral taste of the tap water.
The ultimate cozy, homey, cabin with all the amenities of a home! Easy access to the main road was nice while being far enough away to feel like we were at secluded cabin. Big property so we could have a fire pit each night (and see ALL the stars) and play corn hole and room for all of us to sit on the front porch and the deck. The furniture is 1st class log-style and the beds were comfy and fresh. My grandchildren and the adults didnât want to leave. South Fork is truly a special place.
Perfect cabin and location for our family of 4 plus pet dog, although the cabin is perfect for a larger family as well. Very nice home with a great feel, and well-stocked with everything you could possibly need, even down to Kleenex and lotion in every room. Great views from the front and side porches, with deer visiting daily. Loved being able to safely walk my dog in the neighborhood. Easy access to the trails, directly from this property, to the Rio Grande National Forest make it even better. We drove our ATV to Wheeler Geologic Area directly from the cabin and explored the surrounding mountain forest several days. We visit the South Fork/Creede area every summer and would love to stay in Mrs Ann's cabin again!
Fun place to stay, even with your pets! I highly recommend bringing bottled water, but other than that, itâs a wonderful place. I was very pleased and appreciated the beautiful artwork throughout the home. The location is great, the host is fantastic, and overall, it was a great stay. Highly recommended! Thank you for the opportunityâweâll definitely be back!
This cabin has a fantastic layout. It provides privacy, such as separate entrances and patio areas, as well as ample space to come together for dinners and play games. The kitchen was clean, and completely stocked with extra things you may have forgotten.
The beds were extremely comfortable. The linens, pillows, and towels were clean and quite luxurious.
Ann was wonderful to communicate with, making sure we had all the things we needed for a fantastic place to make memories!
Overall, I would definitely make this cabin a place to stay in the future and recommend it to a friend!
Very nice cabin and comfortable. Stayed nearly 17 days and would come back. No real issues with property. Water supply has sulfur smell and pungent. We bought water for drinking and cooking.
This is our second year to stay here. Itâs just perfect. Enough space for our family of 6, incredibly clean cabin and linens, stocked kitchen and we love burning the wood stove to keep warm after skiing wolf creek. Ann is an exceptional host and booking, checking in and out was super easy. Sheâs super quick to respond to any questions too! Book this place and enjoy a quaint and quiet retreat!
The cabin was everything we asked for. There were high winds with temps dropping at night, but the cabin radiant heating kept us warm. We loved the pet friendly set up. A dog run in the front of the cabin was great. The very quiet and sparsely populated neighborhood made it ideal to walk the dogs up and down the streets without worries of irritating the neighbors. My only advice is to bring bottled water! Ann has a filtration system in the waterline, but you still smell and taste the sulfur. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Nice clean and well appointed cabin. Great beds and nice airy feel.
Well maintained, clean and thoughtful cabin. Beautiful views of the valley and would have enjoyed the front porch in non-winter time. Will stay again if we can. Ann was extremely helpful and attentive. Would recommend with no reservation - Gabe.
We had a discussion with the owner and she was very helpful and great
Great had a good time very cozy we was able finally to relax !!
Love the morning sunrises and all the deers coming to the property !! We will rent again from them !!â
This cabin was so nice and cozy. Fit my family of 6 comfortably. All 4 of my children had plenty of space to relax after skiing and to sleep! The kitchen was well stocked and the towels and linens were comfy and clean! Highly recommend this cabin. If skiing wolf creek the drive was easy and doable.
Very impressive place. You can tell with the little things like tissue boxes in the bedrooms, that the owner really cares. You have everything you need like washer/dryer, soaps, dishes, etc., Also very clean!
This is a neat cabin and pictures are accurate, unfortunately for our stay it was not clean. Several doggie poop bags left from previous guest was on the front porch across from the front door. Stove top not clean, spiders and webs in the bathroom. We had the windows open and massive hair/dust balls out from under the beds. Issues happen, for me all about the recovery/response. When I brought to the owners attention with photos and simply requested to not pay the cleaning fee she refunded 37% of cleaning fee and said was unacceptable. We all are paying a lot of fees on VRBO, when you are greeted on the porch with dog feces I think a refund of cleaning fee is not stretch and candidly disrespectful not to do so. Other thing to be aware of is your rental of this cabin does not include trash service. You will be told at the end of your trip to collect all your trash, load into your car and take 5 miles down to town to a local grocery store. Go into the store pay a fee and clerk will tell you where to dispose of your garbage. I dutifully did that along with taking the previous guests dog waste. Some guests donât and dump their trash in the trees across from the property. In the end I donât think a refund of cleaning fee was out of line, unfortunately owner did not agree.
Beautiful cabin and clean property, lovely area. Water is pretty sulfur smelling where it was not drinkable and hard to bathe, etc. Otherwise very nice stay!
This is a wonderful cabin just outside of South Fork, CO. We stayed for 3 nights and it was such a relaxing time. The beds were very comfy, the kitchen well stocked, the living/dining room was lovely. The seating outside was cosy. It was a great time!
Ann is a great host. If anything is out of order, contact her, sheâs great to work with!
We enjoyed the cabin. It was easy to get to using the gps on our phone and it was just as described in pictures. There was a sulfur smell to the water so bring water but they do a great job of telling you in the email what to bring and even go the extra mile and give you a list of places nearby to eat and for recreation. They are personal and leave their numbers to be contacted. Seem like really wonderful people. Would do it again if able.
Thom and Ann DeWitt live in the countryside near College Station, TX. Thom's a professor of ecology, and Ann's a Master Gardener. We came together over our mutual love of nature. We got our cabin because the mountains are always calling us!
Far enough from the town center that you don't have crowds, road noise, or light pollution, but still close enough to have the conveniences of town (3 mi.).
The Rio Grande National Forest is an easy walk from the cabin.
We love the forest, mountains, river, lakes, and streams. We've got everything right here!
We love our many windows facing beautiful mountain vistas that change with the seasons. We call our vacation home a cabin, because it feels like it belongs here in the mountains. We didn't want just another house that felt like it could be in any suburban neighborhood. We wanted a cabin (with all the amenities)!
