The house and property are charming, I believe it dates back to either late 1800's or early 1900's and the neighborhood and town of Larchmont are wonderful to walk around. The backyard is small but really beautiful. Unfortunately, I was not aware from the listing on VRBO that the family actually lives in the house...so all of their "stuff" is in there, everywhere (closets were full, fridge was full, her personal items were in bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms, etc.) And, Polly (the owner, who is very friendly and nice) actually slept in the house the first night...yikes!! And her 19 year old son was there when I arrived yet left late that night. All of that made me extremely uncomfortable. She said she and her dogs would be on the premises in an apartment above the garage but it was actually through a doorway at the end of the hall right near the bedroom I slept in. One of the big reasons I rented a VRBO was to avoid contact with others during this Covid-19 pandemic...my husband is in treatment for leukemia and has no immunity. So as my title says, this VRBO was different than I expected. The fact that the house is very "lived in" may be just fine with others, but I encouraged Polly to make that clear in her listing description. If I had known I would not have rented this home for 4 days.
