Charming 2BR (Sleeps 4) Coach House w/ Lake Michigan Access
If you are looking for a charming weekend getaway on Lake Michigan, you can look no further! This two bedroom, 1.5 bath coach house is situated above the garage and is separate from the main house. There is a full sized kitchen, washer/dryer, living room, dining area, and outdoor balcony for grilling or relaxing. The beach is located only 3 houses down and is private access for the 8 houses on our block. This home is conveniently located 10 minutes away from downtown Saint Joseph restaurants, shopping, and Silver Beach.
The place, cleanliness, supplies, location, and the host were all excellent. VRBO made an error in not notifying the host of our stay. We arrived late and could not get into the house and had to stay elsewhere. The host handled it all very well. Lesson Learned: Double check with host that all is well!!
Lovely Coach house. Check in was easy & host was very accommodating to our time line. Very well appointed (except for the missing toaster which host did not realize until we contacted her). We were able to store our bikes inside which was great. Access to the beach was as stated and the beach was beautiful. Convenient to both St Joseph/Benton Harbor and South Haven if you need easier access to the beach. Nice bike trails at Van Buren State Park & KalHaven trail in South Haven. Perfect place for us to celebrate our anniversary get away.
check in was super easy, plenty of space in the carriage house, kitchen had everything you would need but we didnât eat in. The walk to the private beach wasnât bad, but strenuous walking back up the private stairs carrying items. There is a Dollar General close by to get items that werenât available at the rental or we thought would run outâŠsuch as wash cloths, kitchen garbage bags, toilet paper. We visited Silver Beach and ate the delicious pizza at Silver Beach Pizza. The other 2 restaurants that we ate at were in Benton Harbor and would highly recommendâthe Brick House and Hill District North Pier and Clementineâs in St. Joseph
We had a great time at the Lake Michigan coach house. Nice kitchen and bath - comfy beds. The walk down to the beach wasnât too far (but a lot of stairs) and the beach was great! Would return next time we are in the area!
This property is well maintained and quite lovely. We love the cozy living space and open concept of the kitchen. Itâs perfect for our little family when we come to visit Michigan.
My wife and I wanted to get away for a few days. We always enjoy St. Joseph and the Silver Beach area. This property is an easy 10 minute drive away. The place was clean and well appointed. We found sitting on the balcony deck in the evening to be most pleasant. An added attraction was a private (neighborhood) beach that we visited a couple of times during our stay. I could highly recommend this place.
Excellent stay just minutes outside St Joseph. We liked that we were able to access the city easily without having to fight the busyness of tourist season. It was very spacious and clean. Even with directions from host, the place was a little hard to find. It seemed like you were driving through someone's yard with the amount of overgrowth in the lane. Despite that, we would definitely stay again.
The property was super cute and a great getaway for a family or small group of friends. Katie was great with communication. It was perfectly located between St. Joseph and South Haven with a 12-20 minute drive. The beach near the property was AMAZING! The walk down and back up may be difficult for those with mobility issues. We didnât find a grocery store nearby so plan accordingly for a little bit of a drive. We look forward to staying again in the future!
We really enjoyed our stay at Katie's home. It is situated 10 minutes north of St. Joseph where we attended a wedding. The kitchen, dining area and living room was comfortable for us to each have a seat or two! The deck was awesome, especially on cool dark nights to enjoy the cool weather. The shrubs along the drive to the home were overgrown and could be cut back to avoid scratching guests vehicles. Katie notified me after checking in that the washing machine was out of order and would be repaired after our departure. The home was clean, comfortable, spacious, breezy and close to our events. I would recommend this home to others who want access to Lake Michigan, wineries, beaches, and park trails.
House was very clean and cozy. We had everything we needed. Loved the open floor plan. Close to restaurants and we enjoyed shopping downtown St. Joseph. The walk to the beach wasnât quite what we expected but was ok for our group. Could see it being as issue for those taking young kids with a lot of belongings, elderly or less mobile people. Also the alley to the house is quite over grown and brushed up to the larger vehicles. Over all we truly enjoyed our time here. Checkin and communication with owner was great!
One of the most adorable places we have rented in MI to date. The coach house was surprisingly roomy and we loved the layout and decor. The kitchen was a joy to cook in and the beds were so comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer!
The pictures for this property do not do it justice. I loved the pictures but was leary about staying above a garage. I was pleasantly surprised the moment we stepped through the door. The wooden steps led us to a well thought out living space that was tastefully decorated. The many books of various interests was a nice touch. The entire place was clean (I've been to some that weren't). Almost everything you need is provided. It was peaceful spending time on the deck. We checked out the private beach. The beach was cool, but it was a hike going up and down the steps! I think I need to get in better shape! It was also a decent midpoint between St. Joe and South Haven. No complaints from my daughter and me!
Access was through an alley way. The overgrown brush was a slight hindrance to our truck. House was very clean, unfortunately we found a dead bat in the bathroom cupboard. Though there was compensation, it was unsettling. On our second night, a downed tree caused a power outage blocking the alley way resulting in the fact that we were not able to leave the apartment until the pole and line were repaired late the next morning. I managed to boil water for coffee and heat up some breakfast on the gas grill. Not fun. The location was good to get to St Joseph and Blackbird Waterhouse in Coloma (an awesome restaurant). The description of the walk and access to the lake is extremely vague. There were at least four sets of stairs and two rocky dirt paths plus a five step ladder to get down to the beach. Not only was it very steep, several loose steps were very dangerous. A benefit was that there is a parking pass provided to Silver Beach. Some compensation to avoid the âhikeâ to the Lake Michigan access from the apartment. The apartment itself was very nice and well stocked. Unfortunate the few âglitchesâ during our stay. Not the fault of the host. But inconvenient for us.
When I say that this carriage house is a perfect getaway spot, I mean it. The house itself is so lovely. It is the perfect space for a small family, or a few friends. The kitchen was very well equipped, and we found everything we needed. The beach was a close walk, and was so lovely. Our 6-year-old son did not want to leave, and is already talking about when we can return to visit again.
