This is an exceptional house in my favorite neighborhood in San Francisco. The house has everything you could want along with easy, dedicated parking. It is full of light and has amazing views of the city. Two blocks away is the Cole Valley neighborhood which is essentially a little village inside the city with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, bakeries, and even a hardware store. The owners are super-responsive and work hard to make your visit comfortable and worry-free. World class spot!
charming house, fabulous location, top notch hosts
we lucked out and found casablanca for a last minute trip to san francisco - we were there for a week. we are regular VRBOers and i don't remember having ever had a more communicative and accommodating host. the kitchen is wonderfully stocked - it seems like the residents use the kitchen meaningfully so there is little in the way of accoutrements that wouldn't be available should you need it. washer dryer in the basement was handy for our various adventures. the location was AMAZING. walkable to golden gate park and the museums/ conservancy inside; walkable to whole foods, pizza, etc. MOST NOTABLE - if you are visiting SF from afar and aren't sure about neighborhoods, you should know this neighborhood felt UNBELIEVABLY SAFE. sweet and quaint. the gardens in the front and back are just unbelievable and you won't believe they exist in the city.it should be noted that the house is an old victorian (with some upgrades). it is filled with character. that said if you prefer modern/ brand new everything, this may not be your bag. as another reviewer said, though it was clean upon arrival, things can get a little dusty. we would absolutely stay here again!
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home! It is magical and eclectic yet fully equipped! We loved the elegant main floor and amazing library! The bedrooms were all roomy and very comfortable. We had everything we needed! The vistas of the city were beautiful and we loved walking to the fun eateries and shops. It was also easy to make our way around town. It was a really memorable visit to gather our family for the Thanksgiving weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others visiting this great city! Clare and family
This old Edwardian has great design elements. We enjoyed our stay. As residents of San Francisco we can give a unique take on this place. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
* Very nice kitchen with lots of counter space, utensils and appliances--everything you would need to cook efficiently.
* Lovely garden with lots of flowers, trees and vines. If you enjoy bird spotting, this location is really good.
* Very comfortable beds. The beds were quite comfy not too soft or firm with awesome sheets and duvets.
* All the linens and towels were premium quality
* The furniture and design elements on the first floor were very cool with loads of books, and art objects that really is a feast for the eyes.
* The location is very close to Cole Valley with easy walk to a drugstore, a nice market and great coffee. The local MUNI line is just a 5 min walk or less.
Cons:
* Like many old houses in San Francisco this place gets very warm on hot days. We had a couple of days that were brutally hot. The host provided lots of fans but if you have trouble in the heat this is not be a good choice. The finished attic was too hot to use for several days.
* The design elements are not super comfy. The modern table and chairs are sharp and not so great for lounging.
* The house is near the top of the street and the walk up is very steep.
* The place was a bit dusty--it was definitely clean when we arrived but it seems like no one had been there in a while.
This house was the perfect location for us and our adult children as we gathered for a family wedding celebration. The space was amazing-comfortable beds, nicely appointed bathrooms and an amazing kitchen! The outside garden area was also beautiful! The house was perfectly located and an easy walk to great restaurants and shops.
We had a great time at this house. Itâs well-located and well-stocked. The views out across the City on a clear day or evening are stunning. The beds are comfortable. The outdoor spaces are charming. It was easy to walk to Cole Valley, where there are lots of great restaurants and cute shops. Plus the house is a short walk to Sutro Forest and Twin Peaks - we had a great hike.
Wonderful home with fun seating and lighting to make for a special experience for all guests. Well-appointed kitchen and cute back yard patio made cooking and entertaining easy. Clean home throughout, comfy beds, quiet street, responsive hosts and Fantastic location with a surprising amount of consistently available street parking right out front.
This was our second trip to this property. I can't say enough good about it. Gorgeous house in the most lovely neighborhood. 5 star experience from every respect. Thank you so much-We will be back!
We really enjoyed our Thanksgiving stay at this lovely house. It is an old and quirky place with lots of character. There are really only 3 bedrooms to sleep in unless one has younger kids who could sleep in the daybeds in the TV room but we were 6 people so the 3 bedrooms worked perfectly for us!
The owner could not be more accommodating .
Our goal was to bring our family together to enjoy the city.
The community in this location was perfect !!!!
There is so much to love about this house. Every corner of it is a visual treat, full of interesting art and whimsical details. The garden is a beautiful oasis that wraps the house in lush privacy. We enjoyed watching hummingbirds drink from the fox gloves and other flowers each morning.
As lovely as the house is on its own, the view is even more impressive. You can see most of the city from the master bedroom balcony, including the Golden Gate Bridge.
The rooms were comfortably spacious. Beds, linens, and towels were fresh and clean. The kitchen was a delight to cook in.
The location was perfect for us. It was an easy walk to Golden Gate Park (although I would Uber back up the hill next time.) We took quick Ubers to Fisherman's Warf and Chinatown, and the drive to Muir Woods was only 30 minutes.
The best thing about the location, however, is how quiet the neighborhood is at night. We slept very well, even with the windows open.
The hosts were gracious and responsive to our needs. They even left a puzzle for our family to work on during our visit.
I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a true San Francisco experience.
We had family and visitors from the UK over Christmas. Excellent space and a great location. Hosts were very gracious and had even set the dinner table for our planned Christmas dinner. Excellent cooking facilities. The views are great. Really San Francisco. Easy walk to Cole Street and central to everything.
