Location is great for Park access and you could walk to the little Main Street. Easy Parking and very quiet neighborhood but you do share the building with another family. The ones sharing ours had dogs that barked the entire time they were gone. Property is comfortable but worn. I wouldn't put an adult in the twin beds but the King was very comfortable.
The apartment was perfect for our quick trip to MDI. A little bit longer drive to the park and Bar Harbor, but the views and the quiet made it worth it.
Aunt Hannah's Apartment was clean, charming and had the most extraordinary view! We would most definitely recommend it to friends. There was definitely some confusion in communicating with those who managed the apartment, however everyone was very nice, followed up and in the end it all worked out fine.
Beautiful property and a perfect spot for a quiet vacation
Everything went as smooth as it could've. We were thrilled with the location and the property of this darling cottage. It's quaint and decorated in a New England antique kind of way. The only down side of the whole week was, the owners rent out the main house as well. And the last 1/2 of our trip, it was rented out to a group of 10 people, who were very loud and partied hard. Only one wooden door divides the house from Aunt Hannah's apt., so we could hear everything from their kitchen right next to ours. We were disappointed that the group wasn't more courteous of their "neighbors" next door.
The views were incredible. The place itself was comfortable for four adults. The two bathrooms were great! We stayed in the fall and there were no nice/comfortable blankets. The only bit of feedback Iâd have is the decor and finishes could be updated. But the outdated feel kind of adds to the charm.
House was great-- just what my wife and I were looking for.
Beautiful historic house which has a unit for rent (which we stayed in), and a large adjoining house which is being renovated and updated. The house has terrific views, is close to Acadia, Bar Harbor... places to eat, hike ...
Mike who maintains the house is an awesome guy, and helped us to get situated, and understand how everything works.
Thank you! Hall & Beth
Our stay was very nice but there were items that many other VRBO and others Include with our stay. There were no bathroom hand towels, wash clothes, only 1 kitchen towel.....also, TP only roll in each bathroom was 1/2 gone, paper towels only had maybe 1/2 roll. There were no additional paper products. Plus the French doors to sit outside and view the bay was so broken I could Not open it. The departure instructions they wanted us to start a load of towel but they did not supply the detergent?
Lovely apartment in a spectacular setting.
However it needs some attention. There was a broken light fixture in the kitchen hanging down from ceiling , kept hitting our head on it, bathroom drains run slow, sounds like a water leak under house (we reported), dirty pillows. Water stains on bedroom ceiling, ripped lampshades. Owners belongings in closets and bathroom cabinets (really should be removed). They expect you to strip beds and start laundry upon your exit!!
Why are we paying a cleaning fee then? Listing stated there was a lobster pot and utensils on-site. There were not. Didnât realize until we returned with lobsters . This can be a spectacular rental but needs some work.
We have loved vacationing in Northeast Harbor as a family. However, we didn't know how much more so we would enjoy it being waterside. Aunt Hannah's is about as perfect as it gets for being on the water, watching the tides roll in and out, being in close proximity to the village but also feeling secluded. We loved the historic nature of the property as well. The accommodations were well appointed with what we needed and spacious for a relaxing vacation. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation and plan to stay at the property again...Hopefully next summer!
The setting was absolutely stunning overlooking a cove where we watched the tides change. There is a lovely deck overlooking the water with hydrangea plantings and a small lawn in front.
The living room is comfortable although some of the furniture is quite worn and the lighting could be improved.
We were disappointed with the kitchen because the cooking pots and pans were old and very scratched or rusty and there were no serving bowls. In addition there were only two mugs (the apartment sleeps 4) for coffee, both metal and one was rusty and chipped.
We would like to return if the kitchen supplies are updated.
Stunning, quiet, comfortable and overlooking the waterfront
The neighborhood is wonderfully quiet, and the apartment overlooks the northeast harbor. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. It's lovely, clean, spacious and comfortable. Loved the actual wood burning fireplace as it turned cool in the fall.
I'm happy we choose this place. The property and view were amazing. The unit is bigger than it looks in the pictures. We enjoyed the fire place and they had plenty of wood to use. Sitting on the porch for breakfast was great too. It was an easy drive to all of Acadia and Bar Harbor.
