Cliffhouse vacation home is surrounded by the beautiful ocean of Hawaii.

You will enjoy gorgeous ocean views from the living room to the bedroom that will take your breath away. There is an abundance of amenities for you to enjoy that will make your stay pleasant. From the relaxing hot tub in the master bathroom to the kitchen with all you need to fix your favorite meal. You will find included a washer, dryer, TV, and other items, so you will feel at home.

Cliffhouse has, 2433 sq ft and will comfortably sleep up to 6 guests, with the two bedrooms and den that has a queen sleeper sofa. The Master Suite has a King bed along with unmatched sweeping views of the Pacific. Watch whales in winter soaking in the warm water and comfort of the Master Suite Spa tub! The Master Bathroom has a walk-in slate tiled shower and a double sink vanity. On the same floor as the Master Suite, you find a second bedroom with a Queen bed. There is also a Guest bathroom which has a wooden tub and hand-held shower. One floor down, with the fully stocked kitchen, is a den with sleeper sofa and a third bathroom. An open dining area with dining table next to the Kitchen offers gorgeous ocean views. The Living Room and Kitchen are open and have all the comforts of home with a TV, Wi-Fi, lounging furniture and an ocean view lanai for hanging outside. These areas are spectacular for viewing the ocean. Outside seating spots can be found on every level of the home to enjoy whales in winter and birds and other ocean life year round.

The master bedroom has an amazing view of the ocean.The property location was excellent. It was nice to have a private pool. However, the maintenance and cleanliness was lacking and not up to my standards.

Vacationed on the Big Island for my 40th birthday celebration with my husband and our daughter. Had a great time making hreat memories! The best part of the house for us was the location, view, swimming pool and my personal favorite was the jacuzzi tub in the master bath, overlooking the ocean!

Amazing experience

We will definitely rent this home again and recommend all our friend and family. It is perfectly placed close enough (30min) to all the restaurants and shopping but very private and secluded. The owners are wonderful and so very helpful. 3 days in a row we saw whales breaching right putside the living room windows. Love this place!

The view was amazing. However, the house was unkept and dirty. So many things were broken, including the 2 AC units in the guest bedrooms. There was also a rat that ate our food repeatedly, on top of the standard ants, centipedes, and roaches in Hawaii. If not for the view and cool nights we would have left.

Perfect getaway

Stayed at the Cliffhouse for the 8 nights in July, it was absolutely the perfect environment for our family to reconnect and relax. The host was attentive and responsive. I highly recumbent this home to anyone looking for the perfect place to unwind and relax.

Stunning views and great place to stay

Eight of us stayed on the property for 6 days. The property has stunning views from every level. The stairs may get tiring if staying for long periods and not used to them, but weren't an issue for us. Richard was very helpful ahead of our stay and Rich, the property host, was very responsive during our stay.

Stunning Views of the Ocean

Gorgeous views of the ocean from most rooms. Comfortable beds, clean (besides a stained couch), and refreshing pool. The kids and I swam most every day of our stay. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony, and definitely used the washer and dryer (so nice to have when staying a week or more). Property manager was very responsive and quickly took care of the few hiccups we encountered. Beautiful house!

Best spot on the Island

Absolutely AMAZING location! The view from the bedroom can’t be beat! We watched whales breach from the bed! That was an unforgettable experience. We also saw a pod of dolphins. The kids had a blast in the private pool. It was hard to even leave the property to go see the island because this house had everything. We hiked down the private trail to the rocky beach and saw pigs on the way down. Communication with Richard was top notch! It’ll be hard to beat this VBRO experience!

Amazing experience!!

Our host was amazing! The house was clean and beautiful when we arrived. They had so many seasonings and sauces to use for when cooking at the house. The host gave us amazing insight on all the fun local places to visit on the island, as well as giving us tips on saving money for fun adventures! Definitely recommend this stay! It has the best view on the island!

1st Hawaii Family Vacation

The house was very nice with th most amazing views from all floors. The sound of crashing waves 24hrs a day I found relaxing and tranquil. The main bedroom suit is awesome the ceiling to foor windows overlooking the ocean was my favorite room in the house

Architecturally interesting house with amazing views

Great size, plenty of room to spread out. The master bedroom is a masterpiece, curved windows around the entire room that offers the best view! A wonderful cove right underneath the property offers crashing waves all day and night...so soothing! Good location, with small local market close by. Almost midway between Hilo and Waimea. Look forward to a return visit.

Outstanding location and it was wonderful going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean, and sitting on the lanai and seeing whales swim by. Richard was prompt in responding to my inquiries. The main reason for my 4 instead of 5 stars is that the house needs attention. It was fairly clean (the kitchen could have been cleaner - cob webs in the lights and counters and table had a greasy film). A few things needed fixing. Richard said he would have the maintenance man look into it once we were gone, so hopefully those will be fixed shortly. Also, there was a shortage of glassware (only a couple glasses and no wine glasses of any kind) and the coffee maker is a 4cup drip. This would be fine if the house only housed a few people. In addition, there were only towels for 4 people. We were there for 11nts so 1/2 way through our stay, we washed our own sheets and towels. Which was fine, but would have been nice to have a spare set of sheets to change the bed without having to wash the ones on the bed. There were some dirty sheets and towels in a box next to the washing machine. We washed those as well, but the sheets didn't fit the king size bed. The only other thing I would warn people of, is the house is on a cliff - so there are 3 sets of stairs to go from the driveway to the kitchen. We had no problem, but I can imagine some people may. In closing, the house is a gorgeous property and was at one time spectacular. Sad it hasn't been maintained.

A dream home in a dream location

We were trilled with our 3 nights at the Cliff House. The home was very well appointed and neatly kept. We were most surprised by how beautiful and unique the home is. It is a gem. And it’s amazing to wake up and look out floor to ceiling windows of the ocean at your feet.

The house is lovely, It was warm on a regular basis. Probably due to weather, no WiFi or tv for a week. Pool is connected to an another property, no one live there, and yes I’m a chicken, the water was cold. Headed to the other side of the Island 👍

This place was not as advertised. Listing stated 4 bedrooms and it only had 3. It was an absolute mess when we showed up. Beer bottles and zyn cans throughout. The only part of the house that appeared clean was the beds were made. The poll had not been cleaned in a long time. It was not swimmable. Contacted host upon arrival and didn’t get a response until the next day. I had already booked a hotel and decided we were not staying there. The host sent out cleaners and a pool guy, but I was not willing to go back after seeing it. It requires a lot of work. No refund and a complete waste. The host does not live on the island and clearly does not know what type of shape the house is in. He also didn’t seem to care that it did not have the bedrooms as advertised. I would not recommend renting from this host.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry you did not have a good stay. There are three bedrooms in the house. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the other two bedrooms have queen size beds. We also have a pull out in the living room. The house sleeps eight people. The cleaners came before your stay. If there was anything left from the previous guest, the cleaners would revisit. They did not find any beer bottles or items that you mentioned. The pool guy comes every week. On rainy or windy days, he will need to come a second time during the week to take out any debris. This is why we had him come a second time after your complaints. I hope the rest of your stay on the island was magical.

Views to die for!

This house is incredible! Very unusual but beautiful decor, and an incredible view from every room. We had never stayed on this side of the Island before, and loved all the lush vegetation and different kinds of birds. The house is quiet, with few other homes nearby, but close to a store/cafe that had good food. It's also close to a golf course and small town. Every room in the house was nice, and the Master bedroom is fantastic, with a comfortable bed, huge shower, walk-in closet, and an amazing view of the ocean. The only thing I would warn people about that I don't remember being mentioned on the website, is that the house has multiple levels, with stairs to each level. We liked it, as we felt we were getting exercise going from room to room, but anyone physically handicapped might have a problem. The pool is a nice size, and the water a perfect temperature. We used it every day as the weather was perfect, even in mid-May. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we pretty much stayed there the whole time, except for getting food for dinner. Will definitely be back!

Fabulous location, amazing house --with things to consider...

The Positives: The house boasts spectacular ocean views and soothing sounds of the waves. The layout is great, with three well-appointed bedrooms, a comfortable sitting area for TV watching, and spacious decks perfect for enjoying the stunning scenery. The location is peaceful and scenic—an excellent choice for those looking for a more remote getaway. Future guests should note that the lovely hideaway location also means a bit of a drive time to reach common destinations ( beaches, Hilo, snorkeling, etc. ).Things to Consider: The Cliff House living areas ( entry door, bedrooms, kitchen/living room, etc ) are separated by stairs on three different levels, which could be challenging for those with mobility concerns. Additionally, we found a disconnect between reality and the VRBO photos, particularly with the unexpected house under construction by the pool, and changes in the home furnishings that were not reflected in the pictures.The Disappointments: We ere disappointed by the lack of cleanliness and lack of responsiveness from the owner, who was at times less than welcoming in addressing concerns. For the premium price we paid, we expected a higher standard of upkeep and hospitality. While we understand that no rental is perfect, a more proactive and attentive approach from the host would have improved our experience.

DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY

We had high hopes for this property based on its VRBO listing and planned to stay for the entire week of November 8th–15th. However, upon arrival, the state of the property was so unacceptable that we left after just 45 minutes. This left us scrambling to find alternative accommodations on short notice, which caused significant stress and disrupted our vacation Detailed Issues:     1.    Overgrown Driveway and Hazardous Access: The driveway to the property was overgrown with vegetation, including sugarcane that scratched our rental car. To make matters worse, an abandoned truck blocked part of the driveway, making navigation difficult and unsafe.     2.    Poor Lighting and Unsafe Conditions: There were no lights to illuminate the entrance or the property itself. We were forced to use flashlights to navigate the steep, dark driveway, which created a hazardous and unwelcoming arrival experience.     3.    Unsanitary and Uninhabitable Conditions: The interior of the house was in a deplorable state:     •    Cobwebs were everywhere, indicating that the property had not been cleaned in a very long time.     •    Both live and dead cockroaches were present throughout the house.     •    Rodent droppings were found in multiple areas, along with chewed-up insulation scattered on the couch, clear evidence of rodent activity. I HAVE SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES BUT NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO WRITE HERE

Hi Tash, sorry you did not enjoy your Hawaii stay. I expected this review as you seemed like a person that would carry a white glove. Please note that we attempted to contact you multiple times during your stay to help resolve any issues, but you would not answer my calls/texts and Vrbo requests. Vrbo contacted us (as you filed a complaint) and ultimately did not find any issues, either. Please note that we do not have any sugarcane on the property, and there are no vehicles on the driveway. Your making it sound like you went through a jungle to get to our home. :) Yes, the place is remote (that is why it is such a gem) and it can get dark for the lack of neighbors and city lights. We do have outdoor lights that can be turned on and some that stay on for guest arrival. We have a professional cleaner come by after each stay and they did not find the issues you mentioned - this is one of the reasons why we attempted to contact you multiple times to have the cleaners revisit the property for any additional cleaning that you identified. We also have the house sprayed quarterly (like any other house) for pest control. The cleaners did say that there were some gecko droppings outside (not in the house) the window area. Beautiful but Not Typical

We stayed at this home a few years ago and were stunned at the quiet serenity. A home on a cliff 100 feet above the ocean. Waves crashing on a tiny beach at a river mouth below. The cacophony of thousands of frogs chirping through the night. 180 degree views of the pacific. A nice lap pool out front to cool off and chill out on warmer days. On a piece of land with no other homes in sight. The feeling of being adjacent to a rainforest. This is not a mainlander’s idea of a typical Hawaii tourist destination. But if you are looking for peace and quiet in a climate the likes of which you can not experience on the mainland, this is it. All that said, on this trip we arrived to find that the new owner was building a separate unit right next to the pool. This was a let down because we had experienced the property without it and it made the location feel less serene. The property felt more crowded and completely a different style than the main house. Plus it was mid construction so there was always someone walking around working which eliminated that feeling of being there all by yourself. Had we known this was happening we would have rented elsewhere. Last but not least, the pool had an algae bloom prior to our arrival and we were only informed the day we got there. It was pea soup green and totally unusable which was a bummer. Regular pool maintenance is important. I suppose the new unit will allow for larger families and groups to stay which may be a plus for future renters.

Great view would not stay again

Rented for 21 days. I would read reviews by Sherrie, Aygul, and Juslyn before renting. Additional info Rich - property manager, voice mail always full. Richard- owner WEEK ONE - Grill pipe between burners broke. Took Rich over 30 hours to text/call us with response. New grill 4 days after request. Per Rich clean grates with aluminum foil. -propane stove ran out of propane, no grill, friends arriving for eggs and bacon in 15 minutes. -No ice maker, freezer was 3/4 full of frozen food, very little room to make ice cubes, store ice, purchase our food for 3 weeks. -food waste stored in freezer per manual at home. -light bulb at the base of steps burned out, stairway up very dark -informed property manager that screen door in master shower is torn across bottom. -Asked about pool service. No bleach in dispenser for several days. WEEK TWO -Stairway light bulbs above garage door and main door upper level now burned out, no lights on any of 29 steps.No bulbs replaced for 4 days. NOTE: husband fell up steps, told by Rich that there was plenty of other lights, to count steps, to use hand rail (no hand rail from garage steps to main entry 3 odd angled steps) -consistent questions and concerns regarding pool maintenance ADDITIONAL COMMENTS -No cooler Only 9 glasses for up to 8 people, told to wash glasses. -No Wine glasses - 7 doors and only one had a functional screen - Tin foil in the holes where the rats must have come in. Much more limited, please consider what you want if renting.

Sigh... I knew this negative review was coming the moment Jill demanded that we purchase her groceries prior to her stay. Tenant also demanded we purchase a new BBQ grill because the one that we had was too used and dirty (we ended up buying a new one because of the constant text messages and calls). Tenant also went through the entire house and demanded that we replace anything broken, e.g., a light bulb, because she paid for the stay. We don’t mind fixing immediate problem; just don’t like to get a bombardment of texts and phone calls unless it’s an emergency or something that can be done the next day. Host was constantly running around for the tenant. Tenant demanded immediate action and responses from the Host, 24/7, and we received text message late at night and in the early mornings. Best for last - tenant wanted my Host to wash the dishes during their stay. Check out her review. Best of luck to you Jill.

Once-in-a-lifetime-view, otherwise very disappointing

We arrived Thursday evening, and the pool was dirty. The guest book says the pool is cleaned every Thursday. When we asked the host’s representative if the pool could be cleaned, he said they recently had a storm and didn’t know why the pool guy didn’t clean it. Then he said we could clean it ourselves. Um, News Flash: We’re on vacation and paying a lot to rent this home. Needless to say, the pool remained unusable during our stay. There was little to no silverware. When we made the representative aware of this, he said, “Yes, the last family must have gone on a picnic and not brought it back.” He indicated he was resistant to making a long drive just to get us some silverware. A total of only one dish towel, one hand towel and one washcloth was provided for a house with three bathrooms and in our case, four occupants. The representative said there are paper towels; however, only one roll was provided, that being in the one-dish-towel kitchen. There were only a few plastic trash bags available, which we ran out of and had to use paper bags that easily soaked through from trash. I don’t handwash dishes at home. Why in the world would I want to do that on vacation? Nonetheless, there was no dishwasher soap here. Representative’s response: “Yes, it seems I’m always having to restock that.” He then suggested we use the Dawn dish soap. a sponge and some elbow grease. I had to send my husband 45 minutes each way to get what is always provided in even the cheapest of home rentals – which this is not. Bottom line: This place had a great view, but in our opinion, it DEFINITELY was not ready to rent and the host responsiveness via a representative was unsatisfactory. It’s not what we expected when you finally were able to come to Hawaii for rest, relaxation and family fun.

Hi Sherrie, glad that the views were fantastic and that the house itself is as phenomenal. Sorry that the host was not as accommodating as you would have liked. The house is in a remote location and he was not aware of the missing silverware upon arrival as guest wander off with them. We have a pool service come out every week. I spoke with them and they claimed to come out during the week. The matter has been fixed.
